Actually, what he says reminds me more of that Doctor Who episode with the living sun... He says that the "planet will never stop" until the marker is returned, implying that the planet crack unleashed the necromorphs in reply to the removal of the marker.

well the necromorphs could have ganged up on them when one of them was alone or they didn't have any guns but i wouldn't kow that because this game is some what new to me
And yes, I know you mean the military ship, but they also didn't know to shoot limbs off. Plus, it's only Isaac's suit that survives necromorphs, cause he's a Future Daddy. (lol)

It's all about the armor. Without it, it's just a matter of their spikes through our skin. Insta=death.
Like the Halo Flood effect, Master Chief survives because of the armor, that's it.

there are several thoughts y the military ship was eaisily killed off.
1.)they were unaware of the whole, cut off their limbs thing and just shot like hell, which would take ages to kill even 1.
2.)They were caught unprepared as they did not know someone infected was in the escape pod.
3.)The slasher may not have killed everyone, as it managed to crash the ship as well
