  • Thanks! This is GREAT!!!

  • @sisqsis you are welcome!

  • американский кулибин

  • Your videos about the chicken stuff are great! Thanks for sharing.

  • 2:07 plymouth-rock hen right?

  • @NIGHTCRAWLER504 you are right!...great chickens!

  • @NIGHTCRAWLER504 your right! Great birds!

  • @NIGHTCRAWLER504 your right! great chickens!

  • kind of educative watching this video, show how to take good care of chickens.

  • @cyril24150 Thanks! I try ....I have had a lot of chickens...best hobbie I have!

  • water nipples work wayyyyyy better, just need a tank, some rubber or PVC pipe , pipe connectors and as many water nipples as you need. it's way simpler and more reliable then a water bowl like this. and they don't burst as long as the water is kept above freezing due to conduction heating and it's gravity fed.

  • @flamedrag18 yes , I got a few systems like you mentioned and I agree nipples are

great....my water bowl waterer did NOT live very long.... for 25 dollars I thought it would last longer! This system died in 3 months!

  • @london1817 hi matey, would you please tell me the catalog name of this nipple/product? cheers.

  • @BLOODYCLQ ...I just ordered them off Ebay ...they still work great!! I think they are a good product.....they are alll over ebay..

  • Cool

  • The trick is unobstructed and level. there are adjustment "nuts" inside that allow for very delicate flow adjustments. It's a bitch but take your time and you'll get it. Also, mine waters 4 different cages. yep I have 4 wire walls intersecting the bowl. Also the bowl is sorta on the second level. Ladders allow the chickens to get to the water. There is also a 5 gallon bucket on the floor directly under the bowl to catch any spills. I really try to keep the floors dry.

    G

  • @thedongarry Thats cool...I will try mine again..Thanks for the advice! I might need to ask for some '

more when i get it back going.

  • @thedongarry

What do you call the brass piece that has the water float in the bowl? What is the original use or intent for that part? Where can it be purchased (kind of store)?

    Thanks.

  • @afjimenez2 I am not sure on the part...but you can buy one of these at any feed store.

  • Get rid of the bucket. Hook it uo direct mine has been running maint free for years. It should be level

  • @thedongarry I thought about it........ but something happened to mine ad it leaks over the bowl...what makes that happen?

  • @thedongarry do the chickens get stuff in the bowl? Will it freeze if I have a nice well insulated coop with heat lamps turned on? I'm hoping to keep the temp at about 50-60 with about 50 chickens total. I want to put in a frost free style spigot inside the coop, drilling a hole through the floor which sits on 4 x 4 PT posts, using blue foam to box the pipe into the ground at least 4 ft. down as we get some super cold winters here in Upstate NY. Will the nipples work hooked direct to the well?

  • @firewoodguru umm...yes..no..& they will eat the blue foam. & no the nipple will burst under pressure.

  • @london1817 The blue foam would be under the coop in the middle section where there are no chickens. I guess I'll have to use the bucket or large drum and fill that every so often, run a hose to pvc where the nipples are. I'll leave the bucket right under the water spigot. Thanks!

  • Well done tom great idea

  • @lexe777 Only on my good days! haha...thanks!

  • Thats cool!!! where did You get the fountian ?

Agin thanks for the video Tom

  • @thomasl100 I got mine at tractor supply but any feed store would carry these.

  • You did not explain the main details of you project, poor video...

  • @AKABUZSAW I'm bad like that sometimes.

  • What exactly is the stop valve? Did you construct it or did you buy it. If you bought it what is it called? Thanks for sharing the info.

  • Why did you fast forward the mose important part. Putting it together?

  • @dbrtripp cause it made the video shorter.

  • whats the name of that fitting?

  • @peri525 it comes with the chicken fountain..

  • Ahahah thanks whats it called yeah i just got 6 baby chicks like a week ago and their getting big fast so i gotta build a chicken coop thanks of u cud post a link of the vid please tnkx bbye

  • @seanlms98 make a nice coop for them!

  • Yup u seen smart can u post a video in making a chicjen coop 4 6 hens but not to big and not to small with easy acces to collect eggs thanks mr bbye

  • @seanlms98 I have the chicken tractor video up....really good design for 5-10 birds.

  • my mommy thinks ts a good ideA

  • @seanlms98 good!! Its a great idea!

  • ناااايس ^______________^

  • ناااايس ^______________^

  • Do they drink irigated water? or fresh water from the house? Or does it matter at all?

  • @Buccaneerfan13 just water from the garden hose connected to the well..Give them fresh good water.

  • @Z71Ranger You expect me to stick my dick in one and go AWW AAWW? yOU WATCH TO MUCH DEVILS REJECTS?

  • what if the chickens takes A SHIT.

    in the bowl ?

  • @MARTINLARSENFOX Then he gets a warm meal.

  • @london1817 yeah, they don't care, they do it all day every day and never learn any better, its funny, i love my stupid chickens, lol

  • Actually I gotta show to this my husband Richard...Would ya believe I too have chickens...Only four..But I think we need more..I should show him your set up..We are truly beginners

  • Actually I gotta show to this my husband Richard...Would ya believe I too have chickens...Only four..But I think we need more..I should show him your set up..We are truly beginners

  • Just an idea for you to try out... You can actually just run the PVC pipe directly to your water bowl. Just have the end of the pvc pipe below the rim of the bowl. Then when the water level drops under the pvc pipe, an air bubble will bounce back pushing more water back into the bowl.

Same principle as water chillers or automatic water bowls for cats/dogs.

  • Why not catch the rain water from the coops roof ? You could use a 55 gallon drum also. Just a idea. Good Video.

  • @trasWow For the chickens?

  • @london1817 yes, i have one setup like that at my grandmas house for her, she doesn't hardly ever have to water them

  • @weldermatt07 Mine started freezing and busted a pipe...so I am back to the old way!! haha

  • ENABLE THE COMMENTS ON THE VIDEO OF YOUR CAT BEING SHOCKED!!! WE WILL BE SILENCED NO LONGER!!!!!

  • @JPyr0 Oh shit! No...no.,....not again.

  • @london1817 I can tell you guys do these videos in one continuous take and seeing it fast forward like that leads me to believe that you were talking that entire time. My favorite part is when it fades from you talking about the chicken breaking it to you saying, "So the next day". My point is, if you can exercise your free speech that much in this video, you should enable the comments on a video like the one with the cat. You will get ALOT more views.

  • @JPyr0 The same amount of people will watch I think ...just less crap for me to

deal with. How would I get more views?

  • @london1817 It gives the viewer the freedom to comment and thumbs up your comment or down. That's what the whole democratic comment system of youtube is all about! lol

  • Rick, I really like your chicken watering device. That's a really good idea.

  • @JosephStetson Thanks man!

  • I have a gravity feed water pan just like that. I hung it from the ceiling with pex tubing - and hooked it to the city water line with a ball valve. It works great!

  • Rick, great video, good job. Thanks for sharing your information.

  • @jsmith6266 I'm here for you!

  • For $13.99 you can buy an automatic waterer for livestock at Southern States that you hook to your hose and leave the spicket on all the time. What ever that AW is attached to it will fill to the float then cut off. You can attach it to a large livestock tank or a small pan. Anything really that has a side lip where you can screw the attached screws to like a vice and the float isnt sitting on the bottom. Its great you should check it out.

  • @qhhorselady I will check it out! Thanks.

  • Just wanted to say you have some great idea's, Keep them coming..

  • @Rugger0430 Thanks. I will try.

  • Rick I think u have a really good idea. If u go on vacation someone would have to water the birds every day or else. I may try to copy it. I have my children check them in the morning and evening for food and water. We are getting 2-3 eggs a day from 3 hen that we have had for only a few months. You have many chicken what do you do with all the eggs? Sell them give them to family and friends? We got 3 more r.i.r. we should be looking at a half dozen a day before long.

  • @Larryd1001 I have an updated video on this waterer. Apparently the valuve only last a couple months at best. Mine died and the replacement part was as much as a new one almost. I have plenty of eggs for 3 neigbors I supply weekly.

  • london anther way to do this is with a toilet parts or a ballcock and your water hose will fit right on the end and you would never have to fill it but in the winter i would be afraid it migh freeze.

    just an idea

    the cheap guy

  • @iwantosavemoney Well thats cool....This project already died a while

back.....I am back with the one I had first off.....but wasted money...I konw you

    hate that!

  • if you did some thing ike the feeder and put 1 hole in the bucket and put it falt on the ground

  • @thequado Maybe it would work.

  • Thanks for taking the time to explain how to put this stuff for chickens together. I am in a rural area of TX however, I have a full time job & my chickens are kind of a hobby besides helping me feed my kids. These frugal (cheap, lol) ideas are wonderful!! Please KEEP 'EM COMIN' ;)

  • @jjlynn40 Hey ..thanks for the comment! I am trying to put some more stuff together!! Thanks ....Rick.

  • whats that pipe that stops the water called

  • @wrestleorsurf The pipe is ran to the automatic poulty fountain.

     the fountain stops the water.

  • My bird know how to use the waterer that a parrot uses. I added that to a 5 gallon bucket. They peck out the water when they need it. That's cheaper than the pan

  • nice... if you realy want those pipes to stick together for a long time you should use purple primer then glue....

  • Now add a RAIN GUTTER to your chicken coop and direct the run-off into your chicken waterer bucket. Put a lid, cut a hole for the water, alittle bit of screen to catch any debris so it doesn't clog your valve. - Alex

  • @KayakFisher01 I had a friend that did that and it was all algaed up and the smell.......whoa.....I am a fungi.....but not that fun..Haha...Thanks for the comment!

  • Man this is a great video. I think your use of various widgets and everyday things to get "urban farming" chores done is pretty ingenious! we are considering goats and chickens on a 0.52 acre tract of land. Do you have any ideas about how many of each or which one over the other would you chose? Thanks, hope to here from ya soon. We live in the western NC mountains.

  • @mountainman28713 Hey that is when we are! I don't think goats are a good idea at all. to be honest with you they are a pain in the arsh! Really chickens are way better. I would get like 6 hens and build a nice coop and let them free range during the day. If you have to get goats. Get the little pigmy ones . they don't eat much.. Thanks for the comment. Rick.

  • Have you thought about putting a solar powered fan in there to help cool them on a hot summers day?

  • @maddogg862000 That is a good idea.....They are under a huge tree right now. It stays very cool ...compared to the rest of the property.

  • yay, new vids! Missed em!

  • yay, new videos! :D

  • So this thing limits their beer? How cool is that? :)

  • @Praxxus55712 Hahha....wishful thinking!

  • nice job Rick, how long do you think it will take them to drink it all?

  • @doug2877 It will take my 23 birds 3-4 days to empty it...in hot weather.

  • rick i had the same waterer, the thing that was the best , i just plumed it to my water source. that way they allways had water, what if you have a break down, or stuck at work, or have to hurry to something. the chickens will allways have fresh cool water.

oh by the way, you look like the termanator, cooooooool

    mr wildkat

  • @MrWildkat Haha...terminator minus muscle! Haha

  • thats pretty good not much to do to improve on that

  • @shanewald Thanks....I take chicken raising very serious....I love my birds.

  • What is the red bowl? Where do you find them, or how do you make that part?

  • @marsjuli I ordered it off EBAY ...google it....Its called a automatic poultry fountain.

  • I like your idea Rick. I am build my first ever chicken coop. Almost done. What are the best laying hens to use. Plan to get a about 3 hens. According to what I have seen that should produce about 2 eggs a day.

  • @Larryd1001 I have dominique's that lay everyday...hot or cold outside! My buff orphintons lay 1 egg every 2 days...Those are the plain yellow birds. My next door neigbor swears up for rhode island reds.........

  • Just one thing you might want to place a small mesh over the top of the water in the bucket as stagnant water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. and with a small mesh they will lay their eggs through but the mosquitoes won't be able to get out. Otherwise Good job.

  • @johnnyboy41 I do havea lid for it....Thanks for the comment!

  • great....

  • Hi thats a good set up there!Could i suggest one thing i have plumed with pvc alot and for a good while after the glue dries the water that runs through the pipes can taste bad.I hope you will flush that out and refill it with fresh water.Specially since thats all the water they have to drink. Thanks

  • @arkansastrash320 I have the other waterers for them in there still. They haven't been drinking much from it......I should dump it . I did wait a day for the glue to dry. Thanks for the comment!

  • And I thought chickens drank tequila!

  • @breezebro No,no...that's for me....Hhaha

  • Great idea!!! I could see this working for dogs or cats, too!! Very nice!

  • Hey Rick thanks for posting all your videos man...it brings me back to my childhook on my grandfolks afrm... god bless them... Take care!

  • @steva30 Haha....no problem! Thanks for the comment

  • Cool idea, Rick. The bowl looks like the right height. Mine's too close to the ground and the chickens poop in the water sometimes. I need to readjust that. I hope your summer is green and full of enjoyment!

  • that was great.........

  • @ironhead41 Hey ironhead41 I have watched all your video's ....you are awesome! I wish we were neigbors.

  • Great idea. Thanks for sharing.

  • great fountain! i'm working on one that uses the condesate from my ac to supply the water with a condesate pump. anyway man thanks for the great post please keep 'em coming.

  • Awesome idea. I was just talking about how to make watering the chickens easier...Thanks.

  • How much for the fountain?

  • @anyonefindAMERICA The fountain was $20.

  • Long time dude! I see you still got your chicks! That is a pretty nice set up!

  • @jihadacadien Thanks...I am trying to get a serious set up for the birds! Hope everything is going good your way.......Rick.

  • @london1817 It is, thanks!
