  • Magnifico magnifico, me parece algo que vale la pena y que deberia preservarse a traves de las generaciones

  • @tigersforchrist, the beautiful thing about music is that it transcends your foolish dogmatic views and is available to everyone to appreciate. These two amazing masters ate doing nothin but playing music, leave the politics to your no doubt uninspired and racist rants to your ilk, and let us who appreciate beauty in all its forms enjoy it, untainted by your mindless hate filled dribble.

  • I find this...

    quite easy to masturbate to.

  • Incredible!!!!! The complexities are beyond my grasp, but every time I listen I hear and learn something new and inspirational about it. I've been told the "ta tiki ta" vocals are also the method of counting. If anyone can steer me towards a site where I can learn more about that, I'd like to know. Thanks~

  • @drumlove42067 Google Jacob Adler and his book 'Wheels Within Wheels' - it explains the verbal rhythmic language and teaches you about Carnatic Indian rhythms. Very good book. Only 15 bucks, you just email him and he emails you a pdf of the book. There ya go!

  • let us not forget about the bros in the back keeping time with their hands. Keeping time to this must also be incredibly hard to do.

  • holly crap!!....that was some amazing playing!!!

  • is this on a CD?

  • To God and to my parents i owe a lot who introduce me to BHARTIY SHASTRIY SANGEET. Great Great Great TABLA players. God bless us so we can ENJOY THEM.

  • WOW these guys are simply ammaaaazzzzing. they never make a mistake even with such complex pieces. this must me a lifes work to become this accomplished.

  • they must learn to sing the basic rhythm-tabla patterns before actually learning to physical play their chosen instrument. Ustad Allah Rakha is a musical genius. besides the meditative aspect of indian music, it reminds me of jazz in that players listen and riff off each other when soloing

  • Legends of Great Indian Music

  • Legends......Awesome Awesome Awesome.

  • @ffaaassssddddddddd please put a check mark for the right option for you "you are mad/ psycho/ moron/ idot?" please note you can choose more than one option...

  • From the perspective of a music lover, who is just beginning to love traditional indian music, this is an incredible show of skill... It is also heartwarming to see the older man jamming with the younger, the humour and the good feeling thats being produced.

    Great stuff.

  • @Iluvtogekiss the older man just happens to be the younger man's father

  • 7:59 ITS SUCH A GOOD SECOND

  • @FILMSCHOOL121 obvious troll is obvious

  • amazing talent!

  • During the late '60s, when Shankar was already established in the west, he taught the history of Indian music at the City College Of New York. The course was open only to music majors, which excluded me. But he also agreed to play a concert for the general student body. The day of the concert was extremely cold and snowy, and Shankat was late. But Alla Rakha was there and he agreed to play solo until Shankar arrived. Rakha was fantastic, playing about an hour and the students were enthralled.

  • @JHelak Man, thanks for the memories- love to hear about those "events" that were not scheduled. Allah Rakha was the greatest - everything he plays is still beyond me...gosh, he is sorely missed- we saw Zakir in Dallas with Ali Akbar Khan's son on Sarod... it was incredible of course. Would have loved to have been there to see the maestro work out for an hour before Ravi made the scene. Thanks- Sitarnut

  • @nayzenilkay wtf?

  • Da krtindin da da ti trin trindin da it means meet me in the shouer after the show for some trin trin da...

  • Wow nobody understands what I'm trying to say I'm not bashing their style they are fantastic musicians im trying to get my point across that playing music fast does not equal a great musician as SO many people think nowadays. For the record i know several people that play tabla so don't even pull that "you dont know what youre talking about" line I know exactly what I'm talking about. Learn to read.

  • @ffaaassssddddddddd But not one person here EVER said that playing music fast equals great musicianship. You are assuming that's why we are in awe of them. It's just not the case. Learn to read..

  • the dark circle is called shahi its made of iron fillings , boilled rice and boiled rice water applied in layers and dried after each layer

  • wowwwwwwwwwwwww great...

  • As fuckin crazy as breakcore... But without computers... Amazing...

  • @zandaiscool2008 agree...patterns up to 108 beats long...try that sometime on a trapkit...these guys are the real deal, hopefully there are young Indians keeping the tradition going

  • They say what there about to play....u should know

  • i like this video very most my dream is to meet zakir hussain

  • Battle is legendary.

  • This is amazing. They sound like one.

  • Thank you so much past 594!

  • i don't generally enjoy classical music..i don't understand it either..but this was magical!

  • LEGEND............................

  • past594 . . this is not past for many like me . . anyway thank you for sharing this . . :)

  • how the hell can those simple drums give rise to so many different sounds?? o.O

  • @SuperGukke The drum is just an instrument. Instruments don't give rise to the sound. It's up to the musician to pull sound from the instrument.

  • @SuperGukke They aren't that simple. The black circle in the middle is a dried, multilayered paste composed of various substances that changes the timbre depending on where you hit the drumhead.

  • hats off !CERTAInLY THEY R GREAT MASTERS.

  • Utterly Amazing!!!!

  • No doubt the Real Great MAESTRO pair of all the Times,Genius Masters in their Field, no match in Time to come .GOD bless them ,..///

  • Legends...

  • nothing can be sweet to see father and son ....

  • omg, this is so amazing! made my day!

  • Hindustani musicians prefer to play as slow as possible to as fast as possible, because that's what this classical music is dictated as by it's innovators. Certainly to play fast doesen't mean anything, but only those musicians can keep the tonality clean concise and meaningful in all speed ,who have gone through decades of consistent intensive practise. These musicians are not trying to display how fast they can play but rather how clean the sound should be to be considered as genuine music.

  • @ffaaassssddddddddd Just because you dont understand something doesnt negate it. Im sure you dont understand General Relativity either but that doesnt mean its beautiful. Get a clue.

  • @past594 woooosh that comment went right over your head. I wasn't saying ANYTHING bad about them if you even read my comment i was giving him a compliment... I was referring to - christ sake do i need to repeat myself?

  • @past594 Playing fast with any music style, instrument, or meter is an example of good technique. As the video shows they are playing, with a man setting a pulse in the back, and also with plenty of verbal phrasing. The original statement made is a very viable one; it also needed to be completed though; this is not music, it is amazing technique. By the way I hope your not just patronizing this style of playing based on somebody else's prejudice; your own response showed a lack of know how to.

  • @ffaaassssddddddddd this kind of music is not for entertainment or general public. it's their tradition for centuries, and this is the way they learn it. For people who don't understand it, they have to simplify and improvise it.

  • @syasinshah i find this entertaining.

  • @ffaaassssddddddddd yeah and who said this was a song? its a solo, read the damn description :D

  • @ffaaassssddddddddd if you can feel only the speed...then you have understand nothing about this music..that is your problem..not alla rakka s.....

  • @ffaaassssddddddddd what they played was called a rela

  • @ffaaassssddddddddd u'r a troll, aint u..xD

  • @ffaaassssddddddddd (and to many like you) This kind of music is not about speed..or showing off one's control and skill. It is about culture, tradition and emotion. If you listen carefully... you shall witness the play of emotions relaying a story; stories carried down through generations in the hearts of not just the performers but also the audience. :)

  • @ffaaassssddddddddd - u are lull then u don't what a real tabla music is ....cunt

  • @ffaaassssddddddddd boss....there is sumthng wrong with ur perception

  • @ffaaassssddddddddd Not just music, a story. Listen

  • @ffaaassssddddddddd that man right there in the video with his instrument can make a sound of u fucking ur own mother..... n that wat makes him great

so u dumb chick ustar allah rakha nhis son doesnt give a rats ass to ur comment n neither do v so fuckoff

  • You didn't watch this whole video did you?

  • very nice

  • Awesome.

  • wat genre of music is this i need to know for a music assignment

  • @Ski4lif37 Hindustani Classical. The young player is Ustad Zakir Hussain, he is the son. Older player is Ustad Allah Rakha Khan, he is the father. The instrument they are playing is called the Tablaa (or tabla). Each beat that is played on the drums can also recited in human voice. That's what you hear when they say, "Dhaa teen ghen taa dhaa", etc.

So they challenge each other by giving vocal syllables on what to play, then they play what was given to them as the challenge.

  • wow, just wow .. too good

  • is teental a 16 beat cycle?

  • @JuJuHouse24 Yes, teental is 16 beat cycle.

  • Now where is the damn love button when you need it?

    thumbs up if u agree

  • @arjunpp123 and also Ustad Zakir Hussainji a very fortunate and blessed son...

Salute to the demi Gods of Indian percussion..!!

  • @arjunpp123 Right and Zakir Hussain is a very proud son I'm sure. What talent these two have!

  • @arjunpp123 I don't know if he can be proud of himself or of his son. I think he should be proud of both.

  • @arjunpp123

    indeed

  • It's fascinating to hear the rhythmic syllables being recited so rapidly (at the same speed that were are played) before they were delivered with such precision on the tabla by this amazing father-son duo. Zakir Hussain seems to have been obviously inspired by his father.

  • This master piece is a master piece i do love it but if some people dont like it its there own choice.

  • This is a clear indication that Western rhythmic vocabulary is thousands of years behind that of the East.

  • maestros of all time (tabla players ) father and son

    Wtf!! 18 Di(k He@ds

  • The Dynamic Drumming Duo! The Batman and Robin of Bliss!

  • WOW AWESOME :) NAMASTE :)

  • who are the 18 morons who did not like this?

  • @james20030 - Perhaps they are amongst the bunch that think rap is music and jazz drummers are the last word? - we saw wonderful ZAKIR in Dallas with Ashish Khan, Ali Akbar Khan's (rip) son- I'm still quaking and will never forget that concert.

  • @sitarnut I just saw Ustad zakir with niladri kumar on sitar, great jugalbandi,

although I do wish i had seen him with Pt. Ravi Shankar or Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma.

Don't get me wrong niladri kumar was great but he's more contemporary and I am a bit of an old soul!!

  • @james20030

    probably Beiber fans or Indophobes

  • @BJTjaggernaut Bingo!

  • they are the ones who hate music

    JK this is awesome

  • @james20030 probably pakistani's ;p

  • @dnnoory Yeah, don't say that. That's pretty offensive.

  • This is a Father and Son- how can you not believe in either genetics or some higher power that is in some way related to music. They know what is expected of each other, they know what to expect of each other, and they are feeding off each other' s emotions. It is a very personal experience they are sharing with us here.

  • @proghousedj i agree with you

  • too bad it does not have hi def sound.

  • tahrakithe therkithe thi tha they din the ta! I love the bol of the tabla.Allah Raka

is a master!Zakir husaain hes good!

  • holy shit this is epic

  • probably the only time Zakir Hussain got owned.. by his own father.. LMAO... Nobody can match Ustad Alla Rakha at Tabla...

  • @Ooga001 Ha ha ha ha . Abbaji (Alla Rakha Khan Sahib, when he was younger was compared to a lion on the tabla). And I know what you mean. When they did jugalbandis where his father was in his 70's it was less of a match. But this is when he was younger and had his stamina.

    Amazing, amazing stuff.

  • They could moonlight as auctioneers.

  • indian beatboxing in tintal=dha dhin dhin dha! dha dhin dhin dha! na tin tin ta! tita dhin dhin dha!
