taywil64, the training is for mercenary specific details, such as advanced driving, or third party protection in a combat environment. Not all special forces are trained that. Mind you, Hostage rescue SAS don't need third party, and Delta Force is trained in just about everything, but most others need to learn additional skills, as well as refresh their old ones and keep them up to date and perfected. I know some BW guys and they are always training. Besides, its fun!
Such elite units, I believe, should be trained in such skills. I would think they could be brought up to speed on such skills quickly enough. But the CIA etc doe receive such training given their duties and that training should be extended to troops deployed to such theatres an Iraq. Mind you, I dont believe they should be there in the first place...

This and other Agencies serve other functions than just a payed military we train most of the nations top federal forces on tactics and proper technics in order to help save lives and defend you freedoms against all enemies both here at home and abroad.

The functions of the military services cannot be outsourced as one would outsource supplies for paper. Paying BW etc contracts worth hundreds of millions is not cheaper, it is political expedient. We need our troops given proper pay and promotions for the work they do to retain their services. Private companies cannot act in a war zone so what Bush has sanctioned in contrary to international law. BW etc have not done the job; the problems still exist. Reward our servicemen properly.

The deployment of trained men in other theatres and their training of future soldiers is an investment in a public servic enot a private businessman with political contacts. The idea that one must have a BA/BS before commission is no longer applicable; merit is the sole criteria. Better pay and conditions gets a better recruit and maintains high morale. It places value on the serviceman not the businessman; value our servicemen.

Time worked up at 1 + bonuses, so early retirement will encourage skilled resourceful servicemen to remain with the services. And it means trained men second to none who society recognizes as important people and not simply in words only. It will work. It will encourage recruitment of quality men.

We do not need new missile defense systems; technically we are so advanced of the rest of the world they dont see the dust we kick up. It doesn't bother me that Blackwater exists. The reasons for it's existence make sense, and they've done nothing that the US Military itself hasn't done really...
The part that bothers me is that such a well armed force of civillians exists for private corporations, and private citizens with little, or no oversight.

taywil64, the training is for mercenary specific details, such as advanced driving, or third party protection in a combat environment. Not all special forces are trained that. Mind you, Hostage rescue SAS don't need third party, and Delta Force is trained in just about everything, but most others need to learn additional skills, as well as refresh their old ones and keep them up to date and perfected. I know some BW guys and they are always training. Besides, its fun!

But the CIA etc doe receive such training given their duties and that training should be extended to troops deployed to such theatres an Iraq. Alot of these guys get out the military and can't do the 9 to 5 for 9 bucks an hour in a broke ass economy. They have families also and have to make a living. 200k a year isn't too bad. They miss the adrenaline rush, comradre, and honor of serving with other trained professionals like themselves. Are you going to get a few bad apples and cowboys in the bunch? Of course, but the majority of these men just want to serve something greater than themselves. It's all they know how to do well.

The functions of the military services cannot be outsourced as one would outsource supplies for paper. Paying BW etc contracts worth hundreds of millions is not cheaper, it is political expedient. We need our troops given proper pay and promotions for the work they do to retain their services. Private companies cannot act in a war zone so what Bush has sanctioned in contrary to international law. BW etc have not done the job; the problems still exist. Reward our servicemen properly.

Most are former military or law enforcement. a good percentage of that former special foces. how much does it cost the state department to provide there own security. and a lot of time these guys are on there own. there job being more dangerous then the average soldiers. they are worth and earn every penny they get paid.

Under international law the situation remains the same. Under national law ex-BW personnel can sue their company. If they are suffering from PTSD they need attention, not BW ignoring the problem. Ditto other problems. Soldiers deserve compensation from injuries and psychological distress experienced in the course of action. That is only fair and decent to such brave men. Again, armies are not the type of service that can be outsourced; one is not buying toilet rolls.

As it is our GIs are underpaid and undertrained. More battlefield commissions should be awarded. After 2-4 tours perhaps College or a larger persion.eraly retirement. That will keep the corporate memory and ethos of the services alive. We deserve the best, as do our soldiers.

The deployment of trained men in other theatres and their training of future soldiers is an investment in a public servic enot a private businessman with political contacts. The idea that one must have a BA/BS before commission is no longer applicable; merit is the sole criteria. Better pay and conditions gets a better recruit and maintains high morale. It places value on the serviceman not the businessman; value our servicemen.

I mean when a soldier does his 2nd tour he gets a bonus +1, 3rd tour bounus + 3 4th tour bonus + 6. That is an incentive. Pension to match. Time worked up at 1 + bonuses, so early retirement will encourage skilled resourceful servicemen to remain with the services. And it means trained men second to none who society recognizes as important people and not simply in words only. It will work. It will encourage recruitment of quality men.

We do not need new missile defense systems; technically we are so advanced of the rest of the world they dont see the dust we kick up. The Reaganite/Thatcher concepts from the 80s are not applicable to the privitisation that allows mercenary killers to operate in a war zone. I'm sure in any high paying job there are a few in it for just the money, there's a few hellbent on killing, but they are the exception, not the standard. So many people base their entire view of BW on the actions of less than 1% of a huge company. You can't say every BW employee is cold blooded killer because of a handful of people. Read a history book. The US was great and just in WW II. Nothing we've done since has made a bit of fucking sense. While other nations rebuilt, we squandered our scarce resources on carrier battle groups. Try eating those when this economy catches up to you. And it will soon. 300 million of us--8.5 billion of them. They hate us but it has nothing to do with our so-called freedoms. It has to do with dead kids and US financial bullying. Good point. The financial fall of wall St. took away billions from profiteers so oil is now ca. US43 a barrel. If you look at the US and GB, both who "went to war" against Iraq their currencies are struggling against the Euro. War costs money. Money that should be invested at home in making jobs, education, infrastructure, public housing etc. If revenue is spent on a war there is no money for the essentails needed for the domestic economy. Only war profiteers want war.
