New Video up when he was at Rice last year

  • Man.... too bad he had to show up at Michigan at literally the worst time in history. Him and Denard could have dominated. But he really got unlucky and got beat up. Plus he wanted to stay closer to home, so I wish him continued good luck

  • @xmichiganfanx all richrod had to do was redshirt him. After a year of a college weight program dude looks buff, like a completely different person, in this video he looks like a high school boy, in the recent games at Rice he looks like a grown man. It wouldve been sick with them two running the option, the carries wouldve been more evenly split up, perfect system for both, Sam has had trouble w inside runs, with the option he could just get pitches from Denard to the outside

  • @dwid1984 well, RRod came into Michigan needing to win and win now. McGuffie was a weapon he had to use. Not saying it was best for McGuffie, but that was the justification behind RRod's choice

  • @dwid1984 not a UM fan sam Mcguffie is a bust

  • @cainepittman2 how is he a bust? in his 2nd year he had 1300 yards from scrimmage and 9 touchdownd on a crappy team with no blocking and no passing game, they went through 4 quarterbacks. He had 661 yards and 4 touchdowns back as a TRUE freshman when Michigan's line was stil gelling together, and they were trying to run the option with Steven Threet and Nick Sheridan. He still has 2 years left to play, and has done well each time he has played, how is that a bust again?

  • @dwid1984 Rich Rod was dumb, I said redshirt him too, he was small but extremely agile

  • All he needs is to get on a diet and gain about 210-15 lbs. None of those defenders will even try to stop him. Don't give up kid, God has blessed u. Use it at your own advantage get in the weight room and see the machine that u gonna turn into

  • @belingafred gain 215 pounds? thats a little much for a runningba k, that owuld make him over 400. hah just messing. have ou seen him lately? he did gain weight, his framed filled out, in this video, i dont think the guy was finished hitting puberty, cuz he looks a little taller and like his bones filled out

  • @fancypantschance yeah, tell me again, where did Chris Johnson play? oh yeah that small school East Carolina, what conference do they play in again? oh yeah Conference USA, the same as Sam McGuffie, oh yeah and Matt Forte who played at Tulane, last time I checked they were big time backs in the NFL

  • what can't this dude do thumbs up if u agree

  • haha dwid you are the man..i love your arguements! i really wish mcguffie woulda stayed at michigan seeing as this year all we need was that speed complement to have the west virginia offense..(pat white and steve slaton) just imagine denard robinson and mcguffie in the backfield..woulda been incredible..its good to see him doing well at rice though. I just hope an nfl team will give him a chance so he can prove himself

  • and if he can work more on his quads and hams size wize, and tweak his stride out just a little bit more...for that to work will take a bit more leg strength and alot more stretching...that will put him over the top..check out barry's legs...he was stacked and had a very long stride.....i like this kid...seems old school personality wise...alot of people miss that...respect for the game... i hope his mind can take everything along with the family issues..

  • @way2real78 you are going to write him off after being the first true freshman to start in the modern era of Michigan football? yeah makes sense. He didn't go to Rice to stat pad, he went because of family matters, he wouldve like to go to Texas but I guess they want to keep their sorry ass halfbacks

  • @dwid1984

ya i agree. i just read about him, he wanted to return because of family matters, and he was mad with michigan. he liked rice's offense and made the choice. I'm from michigan and also a michigan fan. it would be great if he stayed

  • @donsteckleon yeah I guess guys like Chris Johnson and Matt Forte shouldn't have wasted their time in C-USA, its not like they are in the NFL or anything

  • Man...almost every single weekend I put a bet on the team playing against Rice to win. This year they have blown a nice parlay for me multiple times. I check the box score and always see S. Mcguffie having a pretty good game. I am like who in the world is this McGuffie dude....now i see why. That's a badass white boy. Mcguffie...Gerhart...Hillis....the White Boys have returned!!! Everybody always said that era would only last for a little while...they were right!

  • And they say white guys cant jump... I can't wait to see this kid in the nfl. He's like a white Barry Sanders.

  • Well this many is fun and exciting to watch, but he needs a lil more patience and wait for his line to set up some of the secondary blocks once he figures that out he'll gain way more yardage

  • thts my team

  • The worst thing u can do as a white athletes is assume just because somebody is black there more athletic, if u think like that you'll get eaten alive

Is sad because for some players is not there fault, as a kid there Dad or some male figure usually tell them some BS like that.

Like my old boss who is Italian-American, he's still very old school, he believes most blacks athletes are fast and dumb, n most white are smart and slow, if u still believe that in todays game u'll never make it!

  • @futurehalloffamer It's an American thing. Granted, your average black athlete is going to be better than your average white athlete, but it's overblown here in the the States. They are not all Kobe Bryant or Barry Sanders. Our National basketball team has started to get it's shit together, but even in these last Olympics Spain kept it very close. The reason? They don't grow up hearing how they are inferior to blacks. The (MOSTLY) Jew run media has been the driving force behind this.

  • love to see white boys who can run like that! its kinda refreshing. don't hate on my brotha from anotha motha. plus he only a youngin. give a year or two. he'll be a even better runner.

  • He definitely appears to have legitimate sub 4.4 speed (and maybe 4.3) and very good acceleration (which is critical for an undersized RB). The reason I say he's undersized is that while he does appear to be atleast 5'11, he doesn't have a very good frame (kinda short arms) so he probably can't carry a lot of weight . Plus he looks kind of herky jerky when he's running......can't point my finger as to why that is......

  • @jasonemilio you watching the Rice game? the guy is huge compared to what he was like at Michigan, so much for all the people saying his frame couldn't handle any more weight. The guy was really young in this footage and still maturing.

  • @jasonemilio he actually runs a 4.2 i whent to highschool with him he ran a 4.22 his junior year in highschool

  • highschool career alone 83 TD's

  • any idea why he chose rice?? i mean, yeah he'll do good, but why rice? I imagine he'll wanna go pro. I mean at least go to Houston. Even though they like to throw, he'd still get his carries. Fun back to watch though. He'll tear it up wherever he goes.

  • @papitosabe family issues, its right by his home where he grew up. Going to Rice won't hurt his pro career, its Conference USA, Chris Johnson played in C-USA and so did Matt Forte

  • @dwid1984 exciting guy, but that line is gonna have to block a bit more against big teams...46 yards?... I def think this guy can go to the show, but I hope his decision to go to Rice won't hurt it...hawgs need to step it up bigtime

  • @papitosabe well to be fair, the line isn't going to be facing many teams like Texas. He won't have to try to make something out of nothing every play

  • yeah hes not good breaking tackles as a FRESHMAN.

  • really wish mcguffie woulda stayed at UM now that we r getting some players to fit the system. leaving a starting spot at UM to go play at rice? i dont get it but love watchin him run and wish him well at rice

  • God he runs very strange....he runs like a quarterback scrambling out of the pocket...He's got great speed but I wouldn't trust him as a workhorse RB. And NO, I'm not knocking on the guy because he's white.... He's a super fast scat back, but I've seen some scat backs that run with a lower posture to protect themselves, not to mention it helps lower the center of gravity and allows you to make quicker turns. He needs to atleast gain a little weight too.

  • @lurchipoo hes already gained about 15 pounds, he was a true freshman in this vid thrown to the wolves, he has been working on stuff all last year and made sure to keep his speed up by running track since he had to sit out of football due to NCAA rules. He will do fine at Rice as the main runningback, if it were the SEC or BIG 10 id say give him like a Jeff Demps type role who has also ran upright quite a bit but is shorter, there were a few times McGuffie lowerd his pads when facing a defender

  • @lurchipoo he's prob make a good return man.

  • he's a good player of course but doesn't look great at breaking tackles

  • @bayernballack he is a scat back, most aren't good at breaking tackles, but there are few plays on here where he bounces off a few defenders

  • Comment removed

  • He's gonna tear it up in CUSA. I'm looking at about 250 carries, 1500 yards and 14 TD's. Probably will also contribute about 300 receiving yards and 4-5 TD's. Wouldn't be surprised if he took one or two back, either.

  • What all you had was tape from Miami (OH), Toledo, and Nortre Dame? I wish Sam the best but he wouldnt make it in the Big10(12), the boys here are to big.

  • @Jeaurod 9 ypc against Wisconsin, 70 yards against Illinois. The guy is 5'11 195 pounds now, wt are you talking about, Ohio State loses to the SEC every year, teams like Florida dominate, with guys that are like 5'7-5'8 170-180 pounds. Mike Hart was only 5'8, Tyrell Sutton was like 5'8. Everyone tries to find faults in white backs, except there are none in Sam, except hes not big enough to be converted to a fullback, so they say hes too small. I don't know when 5'11 195 pounds became undersized

  • Oregon back LaMichael James is 5'8 180, had 95 yards from scrimmage against Ohio State in the last bowl game splitting carries

  • i can go on and on about smaller backs doing well against or in the big 10 but you would still think sam is too small. I think his problem is he is too white to be accepted as a legit rb

  • did you stop to think those were the only games i had footage of? just maybe, there are other youtube clips with him playing other teams

  • @dwid1984 I never said anything about him being white! The man was afraid of contact. I watched every game he played that year and at times he would run with his back towards defenders and was scared of contact. Thats something Mike Hart and Sutton would never do. Like I said before I wish the man best of luck.

  • @Jeaurod you mean like at :52 seconds where he runs into 2 defenders? or at 1:29 where he breaks a dlineman's arm tackle? only to run into a defender even though hes already going out of bounds? or the run after that where he runs up the middle and breaks a few tackles? how is any of that being afraid of contact? or at 2:28 he bounces off of several defenders for extra yards. Or when he goes across the middle to catch a pass, gets hammered but still hangs on to it?

  • the only reason you turn your back to defenders is to gain leverage and push for extra yardage, Hart has done it, so has Sutton. Sam is a scat back, he will not run over ppl but I have never seen him be afraid of contact, now u r just making shit up. He might have played a little more cautiously being that they played him too soon after getting a concussion, did that ever occur to you? that your genius of a head coach put him at return duties when he wasn't fully recovered from his concussion.

  • @Jeaurod you didn't mention it, but the way you are talking its obvious that is why you don't like him, because you are reaching to find faults that aren't there

  • first it was "he was too small" now its "hes afraid of contact" you have been proven wrong on both of those points, so it points to the obvious, you don't want a white man running the ball in the big 10 and i highly doubt you " wish him the best of luck"

  • a true freshman that avg close to 5 yards per touch in a crappy michigan offense that oline struggles. Had 661 yards from scrimmage, 800+ total yards starting about half the games that season. The reason he struggled is because the scheme, hardly any players fit the scheme, the oline struggled early on, in RichRods zone read offense to work you need a qb that can actually run, Steven Threet and NIck Sheridan couldn't run. Plus Sam needed a year to add about 10 pounds of weight, which he has now

  • and I wouldn't even say he struggled, he just looked like he was adjusting to the college level and was working with what little blocking he was getting, until some defender cheap shotted him because he was a white rb (he was lined up as a slot receiver when it happened), which he got a concussion, which your supposed to wait a while before playing again, RichRod decides to put him on punt returns, the most dangerous thing while recovering. None of his injuries were from rushing

  • there were tons of runningbacks that were rated higher than Sam that year who did much worse or nothing at all. Sam is going to light it up at Rice. Nobody gave a shit that Chris Johnson played in the C-USA and what did a guy like him do last year? oh thats right, rush for over 2000 yards setting records in the nfl with 10 30+ yard td runs. Dumbasses like you can't evaluate talent and think Sam is hyped up cuz he jumped over some1, instead of watching the footage and how great of a runner he is

  • PLAYING FOR RICE THE COMPETITION THEY PLAY AGAINST HE IS DEF GONNA LEAD THE NATION IN RUSHING. I'M BLACK SO DON'T EVEN TRY TO THINK I LIKE HIM BECAUSE U THINK I'M WHITE. HE'S A GOOD RB AND IF HE DIDN'T HAVE THOSE CONCUSSIONS HE WOULD HAVE DEF BE FRESHMAN AA HIS FIRST YEAR AND AT LEAST A HEISMAN CANDIDATE THIS PAST SEASON.

  • sam is a beast.

  • almost a fight at 2:41 # 24 and # 5 they push for a second then at the end before they switch clips he hits him

  • dwid1984, i have to agree with you on that one, just looking through this highlight film there either was really good blocking or really sucky blocking. you gotta have consistant blocking all the time to give a running back like sam a chance. but i went to highschool with sam and seeing him was like watching a flashback to the past, only smaller cuz of the facts that you listed. hopefully he will do great things at rice.

  • at 2:44 it looks like number 5 punches the other guy

  • pleasee what this song ?? :(

  • Not impressive at all!!!!! Guy has no break away speed and no power. In this highlight I see has gapping wholes but he cannot hit the home run. Better high school player. I don't like to doubt people but by looking at this highlight he has no future in the nfl. And what i just said has nothin to do with race...i mean yes i am black by toby gerhart happens to be my favorite college player. I give credit where, credit is due and this guy just doesn't deserve any.

  • @gotmoney77

    1. He was the first true freshman runningback for Michigan in the modern era

    2. RichRod's first year utlizing a scheme that the players weren't suited for

    3. No passing attack, they kept switching between two qbs

    4. Horrible oline, there weren't that many gaping holes like you claim, it took the Oline halfway through the season before they started doing anything decent

    5. Sam McGuffie had 8 20+ yard plays despite missing over half of the season

    6. HE WAS A TRUE FRESHMAN.

  • 7. You are not black

    8. Toby Gerhart even struggled his first season, averaging 3.5 ypc, and he had just broken a Cali state rushing record in high school, he is still 3rd all time in high school history. It takes players a year to adjust, which is why true freshmans rarely see playing time. Redshirt freshman's barely get to see the majority of carries at runningback.. McGuffie was straight out of high school. Look how Gerhart turned out his last 2 seasons, Spectacular playing

  • I don't get it. why souldn't someone white doesn't play rb? is this some racist stuff going on like white people are not athlectic enough and black peple too simple to play qb? explain please cos i live in europe and just don't get it. thx

  • 2:17.. i was like ohh...

  • Stop hating on this man, hes got skills.

  • hahah at :38 thats a blocking fail haha a michigan blocker tries to lay out a notre dame guy but he ends up getting laid out haha

  • hahaha i saw dat

  • Im a Michigan fan through and through, and I gotta hand it to this kid for how he played as a true Freshman. Hats off to him this year at rice. KID IS TUFF. GO BLUE!

  • your the one that must feel threatened, having to come to my channel to make those comments. If you didn't feel threatened by the presence of a talented white runningback you wouldn't flood their videos hating on them, but you know in the back of your head that they good

  • This is why white guys dont play tail back.. this is the most ungraceful shit ive ever seen.

  • 661 yards from scrimmage as the first true freshman to start in modern Michigan football, this is with a new offensive line gelling together and not blocking well until halfway through the season, and a total change of scheme, going to a spread option which nobody on the team was suited for, the linemen, the qb, no passing attack. Bush looks awkward as hell running, dancing around for 20 yards to get a 4 yard gain at best, dont matter what it looks like, if the guy goes forward

  • I guess you never heard of Toby Gerhart, who just won the Doak Walker award, 1800+ yards. In 26 states whites were the leading rushers. What if I came to your channel and said "this is why blacks shouldn't play qb, because their inconsistent, can't throw accurately, aren't smart enough and choke under high pressure situations" youd get pretty pissed off, wouldnt you? because you know it isnt true, so don't come on here with that black power shit and make up stuff about whites that isn't true

  • Couldn't agree more

  • @dwid1984 idk what was said before me...but i really believe white and black can play any position if there coached right and have THE CONFIDENCE (thats the key)

Im a Black WR/DB and i went against plenty of good athletic white dudes, the common factor in all the good dudes was they didn't give a fuck if i was a black db, they looked at me just as a regular db and didn't play timid

  • @dwid1984

Yea but toby was a power back and hillis is a power back. White speed backs are black listed in NFL. Teams wont give him a chance esp since he doesn't have that well of vision for finding smaller holes in the line to run through.

  • @MrCpfaff10 Yeah there is a guy called Danny Woodhead right now, 5 8 200 pounds. Has about 600 yards from scrimmage this year splitting carries? maybe youve heard of him? he did have the all time rushing record. Sam's vision is fine. He plays for a crappy Rice team, yet still managed to get 1267 yards from scrimmage. It took him about half the season to get used to playing halfback again, he did take an entire year off. And the Rice playcalling is horrible, he did best with traditional run plays

  • not to mention McGuffie has shown a tremendous amount of power this season. He looks like a boy in this Mich video, at Rice he looks like a man. It is a fact that white guys develop and finish puberty later than blacks, on average. His team needs to stick with one quarterback, they rotated 4 quarterbacks (and ppl thought the 2 qb system like LSU has is bad) , one wasn't much of a qb, just an option guy, and barely made the right reads on whether to hand off or run

  • so yeah, 884 rushing, 384 receiving, 9 tds rush/rec, once he got back into his groove at the end of the season he broke off a few 40+ yard plays. He still has 2 more years of eligibility left. He finished the year ranked 50th in FBS for rushing. There are quite a few backs that were ranked higher than him didn't even come close. Look at Texas, the team that didn't want to recruit him, how are their running backs doing? pathetic. Only 1 back in C-USA did much better than him, ZACH LINE white guy

  • @dwid1984 90% of what you just said is true.

  • @ripwalter34 whats the 10 percent that is false?

  • @dwid1984 You said "because you know this isn't true." More like 5% or something.

  • oh, you wanna bring race into it???? alright..... uh, why do white people play QB? they listen they don't show off or try to when they can like Mike Vick TERRIBLE. Sam McGuffie is a fucking BEAST

  • The 2 concussions are what Sam should be worried about. That is scary. 2 good years at Rice and this guy should be headed to the NFL. Get that contract as soon as he can. Two good NFL contracts and he is set for life.

  • The longer you refrain from contact sports after the concussion the least likely they are to happen. After over a year away from football it shouldn't be an issue. Guys get concussions all the time. His coach was stupid to put him back on the field while recovering, at returner no less, one of the most dangerous spots, thats why he got the 2nd one.

  • i am friends with sam.. hes 5'11'' 200 lbs.. and can run a 4.28 ... please tell me who that sounds like? reggie bush. give him another 2-3 years and hell be 215-220 entering the draft.

  • @texans1251 Why didn't he try to play corner? At that height and with that speed; he would have been great at it.

  • why the fuckin did he serious leave to go to rice...there not gonna put him on the map rice sucks at football...their just good at baseball

  • @morgan73 it was because of a death in the family so he wanted to be closer to home

  • has good vision and a strong will.. just not big enough or fast enough for d1 college

  • yeah there are no backs in d1 that are under 5'11 190 pounds. oh wait there is one going pro right now, played in the sec, you might know him, Dexter McCluster 5'7 165 pounds. McGuffie is no smaller than guys like Noel Devine

  • @dwid1984 He should move to corner back.

  • and he was timed at the Houston Nike combine electronically at 4.32. Shuttle speed was 3.7 which is also elite, 43 inch vertical which would put him top ten for players in the nfl.

  • "He has one of the best SPARQ ratings in the country among his peers. A SPARQ rating consists of these tests: vertical jump, standing broad jump, 10-yard dash, 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, L-drill, bench press, 5kg Power Ball throw and two vision/reaction tests" He is a freak athlete, his vision is actually the only thing he needs to work on besides patiences, both were getting better before the conccussion

  • and tons of football players get concussions, regardless of their size, its just none of them had coaches that were dumb enough to put them on returns several games after they received one. The longer you wait to play after a concussion the less likely it is to happen. Dumbass Rich Rod put him on one of the most dangerous spots to be while recovering. Since he sat out a year it wont be a problem now

  • and last time I checked, he will be playing D1 FBS ball next year, at Rice, in Conference USA, you know, the same conference that produced Chris Johnson and Matt Forte

  • @baronking25 I saw him at Michigan... He was plenty fast enough.

  • Hes not that fast and hes not that good. His claim to fame is 2 or 3 plays in high school where he jumped over kids on the way to the end zone, So what.

Glad to see him get out of the big ten, he was going to get himself killed if he stayed any longer. I thought they were going to burry him right there on the spot after that double shot from OHIO.

  • yeah it had nothing to do with his running ability.

where he rushed for a total of 5,847 yards in 699 8.3 ypc total carries and scored 83 touchdowns against tough competition in Texas. Those numbers include a junior season where he carried the ball 358 times for 3,121 yards and also scored 44 touchdowns. But I guess he gained close to 6000 yards and 83 tds in 2 or 3 plays

  • and he was the fastest guy at the nike combine, and not to mention a 43 inch vertical, which would put him in the top ten list of all time nfl players

  • glad to see him get out of the big 10, why the big 10 keeps losing in national championships, no speed, look at florida, small speedy backs

  • After watching Michigan have such ridiculous seasons under Coach Rodriguez, it is amazing that all that scouting energies go to waist. Michigan lost, amongst others, this very reliable RB and that Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett. I am hoping that if Rodriguez does not get his act together next year, that he be run out of town. So far I can't believe how far down he has dragged the team.

  • Rodriguez is just not that good of a coach, mcguffie and mallet couldnt play in his spread option crap, the spread is starting to get old now because of the problems players are having at the next level, coach's shouldnt just be thinking about themselves and winning but getting kids ready for the next level if they go to the next level. The spread sets QB's back and it takes them longer to develope in the NFL. RB's dont learn proper fundamentals, mcguffie will run for over a thousand this year.

  • Family isses = picked up the little bitch gene from his dad. The kid is a lockeroom cancer and will not be a very good college player...at least he won't live up to the hype out of high school and he will never be the legend he thinks he is. He is a cocky little shit and no one likes him. Michigan players are happy that he is gone.

  • you don't even know what is going on with his family. He was totally quiet and humble in the locker room so I don't know where you get this "he was cocky" crap from

  • he doesn't even think hes a legend, friends convinced him to put the video up on youtube, he said hes embarrassed about it. Your just pissed that MIchigan lost a great back, thats why the Big 10 keeps losing games, they don't have speed

  • the only michigan players that are happy he is gone are the backs that he was going to continue to beat out

  • runs too upright. def couldve used a fullback like schmitt at wvu. the kid is only 5'8"

  • hes 5'11. And he didn't do too bad for the first true freshman runningback in michigan's modern era. 118 carries for 486 yards 4.1 ypc . 19 rec for 175.

661 yards from scrimmage and 4 tds. thats w missing a few games from a concussion, which he got by lining up as a wr, not rb. and michigan's oline took a few games to gel together plus they had horrible qb play the entire season

  • If he was Black, you be saying that he had all the moves to be great, I bet u dont say that about Devine!

  • that is the programmed biased mentality of the NFL, that is not my personal mentality, there is even a study that has been done that proves this pattern. but dont fret its bound to happen sooner or latter, Mc Guffie or some one else. the Jets have one named Woodhead, he ran well over a 100 yards with great speed and moves, but then he got injured. bad luck. but we hope he will be back.

  • Dwid go check out Cam McDaniel Junior Highlights- 2009 he might not have as much speed as mcguffie (not a lot of backs do) but he's got the hops.

  • when he gets to the NFL they will put him on special teams and kick off returns, seems to small to be built up as a full back, the NFL has a programmed mentality, a certain biased stigma against any non blacks as being a running back in the NFL. they dont even give them a fair chance, just look at Jacob hester.

  • if you keep that mentality that is what will happen. You think blacks started getting a shot to play quarterback by accepting the discrimination, no they bitched about it and didn't accept it, spoke out about it. Hester offered to play waterboy instead of demanding to play halfback. Gerhart demanded to play halfback and went to a 1-11 Stanford instead of a LB at USC. Just like he will demand to play halfback in the NFL, the reason why hes not in the senior bowl, they wanted him to play fb

  • so he politely declined and is focused on the combine. He has a degree in mechanical engineering and he also has baseball to fall back on, he doesnt have to play football in the NFL if they want to put him at a position he has never played before. Halfback or nothing.

  • white players that are good enough to start at skill positions need to demand to play those positions instead of accepting roles as special teams demons or fullbacks/g-backs/back ups

  • hah g-backs, meant h-backs

  • @dwid1984

im black and i say thatthere are plenty of white guys who are better runningback than most black dudes, jacob hester was nasty, sam is a lil small but hed have to put on some weight for me to really consider him a solid back. and gerhart is a straight up larry csonka type runner. alot of white guys can play it but arent given a shot..same with white receivers

  • I agree with you!! Mack Brown chose to go with Tre Newton instead of McGuffie, even Black people that I know were shocked at that. Newton nor any of Mack's recent RB recruits are nowhere near the talent level of McGuffie or Ryan Swope, yet he ignored both. What a shame!!!

  • If your white and a great RB talent..now-a-days the white football player has to prove at least twice as much as the black RB does..PERIOD...there is NO arguement and yall know it..it's called reverse discrimination..i.e. NFL runningbacks...I.E. JEFF Lumsden..check em out..if you don't believe me..tell me what you think........I thought so..

  • I could not find any thing on a football player named Jeff Lumsden. Only a hockey player from Canada by the same name.

  • his name is jesse lumsden

  • My bad it's JESSE LUMSDEN..what dwid said.

  • @birkizzle2003 Sounds like black men in corporate America.

  • didnt nd beat Michigan this game, like it was 40 to 14?

  • 35-17

  • white running backs!!

i remember John Riggins..big, fast and strong.

i see a lot more white rbs or even welker types in the nfl tearing it up.

i'm not anti black..just pro white.

how can you not be proud?

    love those wht boys.xxoo

  • very much an elusive back. liked the clips but the video bored me. the music was awful for the clips.3*

  • its weird how just all of a sudden in the last two years D1 schools and NFL teams started giving white dudes a chance at tailback

  • because ppl finally started to question why great runningbacks werent getting a shot. Gerhart broke a Cali rushing record by over 1000 yards, 3rd all time in high school history, ran a 4.48 and yet every school besides Stanford wanted him at fullback or linebacker. They still aren't getting much of a chance in the NFL. Peyton Hillis was great running the ball last year, 5ypc 5 tds in the 5 games he started, yet hes on the bench for a guy whose avging 3.8 ypc 5 tds in 15 games.

  • it really started in 03 when Rutgers started giving carries to Brian Leonard who had 2775 rushing yards in his career 4.1 ypc and 32 tds, helped put Rutgers on the map. Then in 07 Les Miles started giving carries to Jacob Hester, who rushed for over 1,000 yards in the SEC, a team that won the national championship

  • well actually there was Luke Staley who won the Doak Walker award in 01. 1600 rushing yards 8ypc 24 rushing tds his final year but he had knee injuries which hurt him in the pros. Now there are a few in college, Wegher, Burkhead, Martinek McGuffie. Gerhart, Lippincott, Sharp etc. Still not that many considering there are 120 d1 fbs teams. Sharp, Lippincott and Gerhart are all seniors

  • @dwid1984 White backs have been given their shots in the NFL. Mike Alstott just finished a long productive career at the position for the Buccaneers. McGuffie was beat out by Carlos Brown and Brandon Minor last year.

  • you mean Mike Alstott, one of the best power runners of all time? that was never given the shot to be a feature back and only given the ball on short yardage? what other backs have gotten fair chances? Brock Forsey? rushed for over 100 yards in one game for the Bears only to be cut. Peyton Hillis, led his team in rushing last year and had 100+ yards against the number 1 rush defense at the time, that hadn't allowed a 100 yard rusher all year, only to sit on the bench this year.

  • Sam McGuffie wasn't beaten out He was a true freshman who received a concussion going across the middle as a wide receiver, to get his team into field goal position, the kicker misses! what a lousy team. Then while hes recovering from his concussion, RichRod has this bright idea of putting him as return guy! and Minor and Brown were upperclassmen while McGuffie was a true freshman, which shows he had more potential than them putting up similar yds when the oline wasn't good first half of season

  • @dwid1984 I saw a the game where McGuffie was taken out for poor performance and replaced with C. Brown.

  • there was no game where McGuffie was replaced by Carlos Brown, in fact Brown only really played one game in 08

  • Brown's one game where he played was against Northwestern, Sam Mcguffie didn't get any carries in that game, so I dont see how you "saw the game where he had poor performance and was replaced" There was the Penn St game where Minor got more carries, but Sam was averaging 9 ypc that game, hardly a "bad game" Sam's lack of playing was due to the concussion he received that he was recovering rom, RichRod kept trying to play him even though needed time to heal

  • @dwid1984 Peyton Hillis suffered a severe injury in '08 that continued to plague him this season. That is why he sat on the bench. But he was given his chance to be a starter; contrary to what you stated.

Alstott was Tampa's premier back for at least five years.

  • no, he had a hamstring injury and was fully healed this year. He was never given a chance to be a starter. You don't draft a runningback in the first round with the intentions on giving someone a real shot at starting. They struggled to run the ball and still never gave him a shot, despite looking healthy in camp and pre season. He sure didn't look like he had an injury there. Alstott was never the starter, Dunn was. Alstott only had 2 years with more than 200 carries, thats not a feature back

  • @dwid1984 Hillis was officially named the starting rb for the Broncos in '08. It is on his Wiki page.

  • yes he was named starter in 08, after injuries to SIX other runningbacks, Then in 09 season, THE SEASON I AM TALKING ABOUT. He was back to the bench, despite producing great results when he was a starter

  • I dont see how that is a real chance, he proved he could be a feature back, 5 ypc, 5 tds in 5 games, Got better every game, had 100+ yards against a jets defense that was the number 1 ranked rush defense that hadn't allowed a 100 yard rusher all season (he injured himself on a freak catch where he landed upside down, nothing related to being a runningback) Then the next season he was forgotten about and spent it sitting on the bench while the Broncos struggled to run the ball.

  • @dwid1984 Did you ever stop to think that he was beaten out for his job at the start of '09??

And you keep griping about white guys not given their shot at skill positions. What about tight end? Shockey, Boss, and Whitten along with others are starters in the league and are among the best at the position.

Hillis may win his job back in the future, if he is good enough... McGuffie looks like he belongs at corner, it seems to me anyway.

  • beaten out by a guy that averaged 3 ypc and couldn't find the endzone? No he wasn't. McDaniels is a stubborn prick, fans kept screaming for Hillis to play, and he used Moreno in spite, and Moreno kept getting stuffed. I never claimed it was race. McDaniels also screwed over Eddie Royal and Tony Scheffler. You know why Shockey and Witten are the best? because they are basically bulked up wide receivers, thats what they do for big white receivers, bulk them up to tight end, Shockey runs a 4.5

  • how the hell does McGuffie belong at Corner? I haven't seen a rb with this much potential in a long time. He is like a poor man's Barry Sanders, his runningback skills are sick. He just needed time to develop, you do realize McGuffie played just as well as guys that were juniors? while he was a true freshman the first true freshman rb for Mich in the modern era. Mike Hart played as a redshirt fresh

  • @dwid1984 I just think that with his hands and speed he would be better suited at corner. If he is drafted at tail back; he will never be a feature back. Like Reggie Bush and Dunn he will have to split time with a bigger back and will be primarily used as a trick play or receiving back.

  • thats the way the NFL is nowadays, thunder and lightning for runningbacks. Look at the top backs this year's draft, Spiller and Best, both on the small side and will have split time with a bigger back. Dunn had quite a few seasons with over 200 carries. There are very few feature backs right now in the NFL, most split carries. Personally I think powerbacks should be rated just as high as scatbacks but apparently powerbacks are less valued at the moment.

  • @dwid1984 That's my point with guys this small playing tail back. I have seen these videos with guys like Sproles, Garrett Wolfe, Mike Hart and even Reggie Bush. They are not stars. Heck they don't even play. Bush will be backing up Pierre Thomas next year.

If McGuffie would change positions now he would have a much better chance at the next level.

  • not always true, look at Chris Johnson, hes a star. We don't even know if McGuffie can play CB, there is more involved to it than you think

  • when has 5"11 been too small for a RB? Sproles is 5"6, Wolfe is 5"7, Hart is 5"8, Bush is 6 foot. Mcguffie is perfect for the RB position, I think what he could do better that he's not is lower his pad level a little more before contact with a defender. Mcguffie needs to also be in a pro-style offense, the spread is terrible for a lot of RB's. He was just a Freshman. I guess if Maurice Jones-Drew, Ray Rice, and Barry Sanders (was only 5"8) took your advise they would of been better huh?

  • @Jwall7007 The first group of people that you named barely play a down. Sproles primarily returns kicks. Also it is not his height; it is his weight. Mcguffie can't weigh more than 175lbs. Now tell when someone that small had any kind of real success in the NFL.

He ain't no Barry Sanders...no one is.

  • MJD barely plays a down? what have you been smoking, he carried the ball 312 times 2 less than Adrian Peterson. Your missing the point, small RB's thrive in the NFL because they have a low center of gravity and dont take as much punishment as bigger backs like Earl Campbell did, his career was cut short because of leg problems. Chris Johnson is about the sam size as McGuffie, McGuffie was about 185 at michigan but he is currently 200 at Rice and benched 385 pounds at the Iron bowl at Rice.

  • @Jwall7007 I believe I stated that the first group of backs named barely play a down. Wolfe, Hart, and Sproles(who is known primarily for special teams). Drew for a smaller back; runs with an extraordinary amount of power. That is not McGuffie's game. His game is more like Wolfe; ducking and dodging... This is great for college yet rarely is successful in the NFL.

Besides Sanders name one back that had a great career that was not primarily north to south runner.

  • @Jwall7007 Ray Rice Weighs 215lbs. McGuffie is at 185. See the difference. Playing rb is not about height; it is about weight. You need to have the meat on your bones to take the incredible amount of punishment that you will take in the NFL. Folks like Wolfe, Hart, and Bush are a concussion waiting to happen, hence they don't play much. CJ had a great year because no one knew him, but we will see how he does next season when the league has prepared for him.

  • McGuffie is still in college, he still has time to put on more muscle and he weighs 200 pounds, Chris Johnson weighs 200 pounds also buddy. And Ray Rice weighs 205 go look it up and learn something for once. Maurice Jones-Drew weighs 208, Jamaal Charles weighs 199, any other brilliant things you want to post? Small backs and big backs both work in the NFL, Barry Sanders weighed 205. You are comparing a college RB who has only played 1 year to RB's in the NFL makes no sense.

  • Im telling you he's going to bust a thousand yards this year, his first game is against Texas, Rice so far actually has somewhat of a tough schedule so far playing Texas and Northwestern, should be good though it will test him. And I ment Iron Owl not Iron Bowl. Its a competition thing at Rice were they bench press and stuff. Give the guy a break it was his first year let him develop a little, people usually get redshirted their first year. Plus he played in that retarded spread offense.

  • when did I ever gripe about "white players" ive said player a or player b. Ive bitched about black quarterbacks not getting a fair shot too. You need to stop confusing my posts with other people on this page

  • the fact is, the best players don't always play. Hillis is not going to get a real shot in Denver, the only way is if he leaves. McDaniels is a stubborn first time coach and wants to prove that Moreno, the guy he picked in the first round is going to work out. In fact he doesn't want any of Shanahan's players, he changed the blocking scheme which will require all new linemen, the linemen were greatt for a zone blocking scheme, but are no good in McDaniel's man blocking scheme

  • @dwid1984 If McDaniels wants to keep his job he will start the best player at every position. If that is Hillis and he is not starting because of his race then McDaniels is a fool; and the next coach of the Broncos will start Hillis.

  • you are talking about tight end. Oline (guard, center), qb, te, fullback are mainly white positions, runningback, wide receiver, left tackle are mainly black positions. Thats where players usually get slotted to. Tony Dungy said it himself, that players get slotted early on in high school and in college and some in the pros because they are a certain race, rbs, wide receivers, he was actually a qb that was forced to play db cause he was black.

  • there aren't any white rbs, no white cornerbacks, very few safeties, no number 1 receivers (every white receiver in the nfl is either a number 2 guy or a slot receiver) There are very few black quarterbacks. They keep trying to draft black qbs that are dual threats instead of drafting traditional pocket passers. McNabb is one of the few that made the transition. No white defensive tackles?!? The only white defensive ends allowed to start are on a pro bowl level like Jared Allen

  • @dwid1984 What Dungy spoke about was something that happened 30 yrs. ago. And he was right about that Warren Moon was not drafted at qb because he was black. Today is different. I gave you examples of some great white tight ends, but that does not make it a white position. Antonio Gates Ben Watson and Vernon Davis are all black and are some of the best in the game. Lorenzo Neal may be the greatest full back of all time and he is black.

  • no Dungy's quote was THIS decade about white runningbacks and receivers

  • @dwid1984 A head coaches job is predicated on winning. If these fools are not starting the player at any position because of their race; then they are going to be losing games and will get fired.

  • "You've got guys in high school, white players, who are discouraged from being wide receivers, defensive backs or running backs -- I think we do have that. It's "this position is a white position or black position." I definitely believe they are channeled early on."-Tony Dungy

  • @dwid1984 Hell, maybe he's got a point, because there hasn't been a white corner in the NFL in about fifteen years.

I still think that McGuffie would have a better chance to star at that position than at running back though.

    PEACE...

  • I didnt say tight end and fullback were whites only position, its a position whites are allowed to play at and aren't discriminated at

Ben Watson is overated and Davis had one good season

  • @dwid1984 Watson is decent.. Davis has had 500 yards receiving in 3 out of 4 seasons, and this year had damn near 1000 yards he could be the best in the league.

  • and Alstott mainly got his carries on short yardage situations which brings ypc down, the box is stuffed. Unless by starter you mean fullback, which he got to start at for the end of his career, before that he was a tailback labeled fullback.

  • @dwid1984 Alstott and Dunn split carries. In '98- 99 Alstott had 245 carries in the '00-01 season he had 215 carries. In the '98-99 season Dunn had 245 carries. In '00-01 he had 215 careers.

  • thats only 1 season where Alstott had more carries, and only 2 whole seasons where he had a similar amount. Gruden screwed everything up for Alstott later on in his career. The rest of Alstott's career he had around 150 carries or less, thats like 9 to 12 carries a game, not much for one of the best power runners of all time. Feature backs get more. 215 carries is only 13 carries a game. 245 is 15. Feature backs get 20+ carries a game
