  • if this is an A harp what position would you call this. third?

  • hi, I'm new to harp playing and would like to ask any trained ear if this is a C harp. I hope it is, because if it's not, it means my ears suck :p

  • @benjiskhan I'm sorry for your ears man. It's an A harp.

  • EXCELENTE!

  • DAMMMNNN THAT WAS GOOOOOOOOD!

  • im related to Charlie Musselwhite my last name is Musselwhite!!!

  • Guitarist is just a bit too slow, but Musselwhite is on it. Hardest part of being Charlie is finding musicians who understand and can play blues.

  • Oah yaas!

  • Two people are without heart...

  • THIS IS AMAZING!

  • am a noob in harmonica, whats the secret of such characteristic notes? is he bending or overblowing or what? or is it just the key of harmonica?

  • @Szczepan07 Here's a little trick: If you have an harmonica (for example in D), play a song which is in a key a fourth lower (or a fifth upper) the key of your harp (If you use a D harp, play an A blues)! ;)

  • @Szczepan07 Hi go to interview with Charlie musselwhite.

He will show you his hamonicas.

  • Anyone ever found it on iTunes?

  • @TheMagnificient

Hallo Magnificient, the Clip can be found only here. This is the Original. May be, we have some more stuff out of this live Concert . . . soon.

  • That's some soulful harmonica playing. I saw Charlie play in a small bar a couple years ago with his band. He sounded and looked great. The guy is still putting out great CD's and performing excellently!

  • Yes.this is great....blued feelable unto the bone, deep in the heart...

  • Awesome duo ! - Great blues feeling ! - Good sound ! - Thank you !

  • This is the blues....a little sugar for us from one of the all-time great bluesmen, not just harp players. I thank God that Charlie did whatever he did to further his health and longevity. As you can easily see from this magnificent performance, the man just keeps rolling along, voice and playing getting better and better. So tasteful and sharp to employ that wonderful amped harp rather than the acoustic. He's been going strong since the mid-sixties.....keep tearing it up, Charlie! We love you.

  • now that is the way to make music . no overblown theatrics , no xfactor type dancing , no crap about hair or makeup . Just pure heart and talent . You get drawn in cause you listen to what they play and sing . Now where is my Uncle Jack Daniels

  • omfg this is awesome

  • does anyone know where i can buy this? I found the Little Walter version but couldn't find this one on itunes

  • Brilliant harp in the 3rd position...I think Charlie loves that style.

  • damn, who is that one person without a soul? this is so deep

  • fantastic.........

  • Love CHARLIE and LiL WALTER!

  • Wow!! this is Grrrrrreeaatt !!!!!

  • Melted my face right off and i think we dated the same girl

  • Pure poetry. Period.

  • I need some help from Dr. Jack Daniels after this. I want to be this man.

  • Brilliant. Oh man. Thanks for posting this.

  • Awesome!

  • Foda demais!!!!!

  • NICE)))))))))))))))))))))))))

  • im not really have no clue at harps, but i gotta know, what is the key of his harmonica?

  • @ivanjsh The harp key is A.In the harp is write A.

  • @ivanjsh is an A harp, he is playing in the key of B (3rd position)

  • @orugamaldita Key of E crossharp

  • @manixman111, i disagree... try it.. grab an A harp and play some crossharp licks over this song and then some 3rd position licks, you'll see that this is 3rd position, key of B. in any case, what a great song!

  • @orugamaldita Sorry was thinking 3 steps, anyhow, Charley is out there man, love him!!!!!!!

  • very nice, deep and sweet...

  • Every time I meet Charlie someone is asking him what harp he uses, what mic he uses. I usually here a different answer. Its not the harp its the harp man.

  • Charlie is the best living harpmaster on earth...the harpmaster yes he is.

  • wow

Blues Therapy from the Memphis Mud Charlie.

    Enriched

    thx

  • I feel like saving this a hundred times. It's pure blues magic, and that harp - there just aren't words for what it makes you feel when you hear it.

THANK YOU so much for uploading this gem. Cheers, exzeluke

  • He's brilliant Live..lots of personality, along with a shitload of style.

  • His harp playing is pure poetry

  • @MrTBlues he has a voice too !!

  • the way he makes the harp crying, and his voice so powerful.... brilliant.

    long live Charlie

  • Wow!!!!

    Super geil!!!!

  • Wow!!!! super!!!!

    Schön richard nochmal zusehen!;-)

  • Got to be the best 3rd position (song in B,harp in A) I've heard in a LOOONNNNGGG time!!!!

What a great team!!! Charlie, ya just keep getting better...........

  • overblows galore! Killer equipment and pure f-in talent!

  • @gregjohnkw overblows? I didn't hear any

  • @slimpickinses Surely i may be wrong because I prep myself like a surgery patient before i use one myself in front of an audience but that run down at .37-.45 seconds sounds like he's throwing them in for those half steps. then at 3.40 that note !!!

  • @gregjohnkw Sounds to me at 3.39 he starts with a bent 6 and brings it up and goes to a slap 4-8 draw octave at 3.40 then a 4-7 slap blow octave to a slap 6 draw to a slap 6 blow to a 5/6 draw then 4draw 4draw bend 3 two step bend to a 2draw slightly bent and release it happens pretty fast so it's as close as I can get.

  • @gregjohnkw The run down and 42 sounds like a 10-6 draw octave then a 6-9 blow then 5-9 draw to a 4-8 blow then a slap (8draw slide to 6) then slap ( slide to 7 blow) back to a slap (8 draw slide to 6) slap 6 blow and finish slap 5 draw

  • @gregjohnkw oops in the 42 one it should be a 5-8 blow octave not a 4-8. What was I thinking?

  • This makes me cry. Then he sings! Never heard his voice so powerful

  • how th hell is is he making those sounds

it looks like harmonics, how can we do that on an harmonica !!!

  • @notfoundyet1 octaves tongue in middle blow out the sides 4 hole split on all blows 5 hole split on upper end draw notes

  • Man, Mussel is still the man! And I would steal that jacket he has on, if I got the chance!

  • this is magic!

Charlie is incrdible on harmonica, all the emotion of the song goes out of the harp

  • Beautiful, heart-tearing song captured on a minimalist video -- truly emblematic of "less is more." This live performance offers the viewer a small window into Charlie's soul, as he channels the powerfully deep emotions of true blues.

    Simply remarkable.

  • grandeeee

  • In diesem Song steckt die gesamte Erfahrung zweier Musikerleben.

Der perfekte Sound passt wie die Faust

    auf´s Auge!

  • Heh... I fell in love with beauty of this video and music in it. Charlie Musselwhite surely deserves to be one of the big Chicago blues musicians.

  • Check that chvaky, Thats Delta Blues, it's pure Delta Blues Style..... Seen Charlie at the Tap Room in Buffalo a few times, late 80's and early 90's. Awesome.....

  • Blues wie man ihn heute leider nur noch selten sieht und hört. Great stuff.

    Gruß Geli
