In the series he plays he a uncaring bastard and in the movie a villain, but he's downright hilarious in real life. Same for Dr Bob Kelso in scrubs - I can't remember his real name.
Anyway, it pertains to a LOT of people who play the baddies. In fact, playing the bad guy is harder than playing the good guy - FACT.
NPH, come to think of it, would've made a good "Alex P. Keaton"..There are very few actors who could fill Michael J. For all you curious little buggers, Neil won the celebrity Jeopardy. It was glorious. He was all nonchalant, and got $50,000 for his charity helping homeless in LA get back on their feet. He was against Bebe Neuwirt (Frasier fame) and James "Something" (I can't remember the guy's last name, but he is Mike on Desperate Housewives. Alex asked his if he got paid to be in a coma. James replied "Yeah, they wanted to showcase me to the best of my acting abilities.)

I have clicked on this interview at least a dozen times and have never been able to watch it before just now. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Letterman wasn't nearly as much of a jerk to Neil as he usually is, and there were some pretty good laughs in there. The "Gravitron." lol!
