@SOTOLI1 The ZA was the original car, coming out in '53. It was the first car sold by BMC that had the now legendary 'B' series engine. The ZB came out in '56 with an improved 'B' series 1500cc engine, with stronger bottom end and more power, improved gearing, a larger rear window with curved glass, an improved dashboard, indicators rather than trafficators (my indicators on my car were not original, they had been added later) and modified chromework. The ZB was also available with duotone paint
This video brings back memories to when I was a child growing up in the 1960s. Not long after I first met my stepfather in '65 he had an MG Magnette. If I win the National Lottery I'm going to buy one. Then I'll take my test on a manual as I'm only qualified to drive automatics. In the meantime I'm on the lookout for a die cast model.
@SOTOLI1 They really are a wonderful car. I've sold mine now, but its great to have this video as a momento of such a great vehicle. 'Oxford' produce a number of dicast models of the MG Magnette ZA and ZB range with a choice of colours.
I once road in a 'private hire' car that was a magnette! superb :) I think it was i Wilts. but it was a long time ago so memory is very weak...still, nice to see this vid!
When using a fifties car in modern day traffic, one must remember they are driving an old car. I guess a car like that will draw attention wherever it goes.
@1plaiboi They are a lot of fun, but any 55 year old car is going to struggle to be used as a daily driver.
Performance, ride, comfort and handling is up to the job, but 55 year old mechanicals are getting tired, so expect some reliability issues if you use the car every day.
I do make sure I use my Magnette every week though, and that does include commuting to work on occasion.
What was the difference between the ZA and ZB?

Lovely to see one of the old ZA`s in such immaculate condition. So many of these ended up as stock cars in the 60`s.

I'm thinking about buying one of these, and using it as a daily driver. Should I just kill myself now? Lol.
