Also I think that the only thing here that saved Kordic from getting killed is that fat jaw of his. Boxing experts have debated for decades about what makes you tough (the ability to take a punch). They have speculated for a long time but it seems that a larger head and a robust jaw may help. Conditioning is also a factor. I used to think Kordic was native because of his high cheekbones. I heard that he was Croatian though. There have been some bad ass Croatians fighters over the years.

Yeah well last I checked despite blowing up the team almost entirely (after Kaberle) Schenn has the most seniority and despite that, were tougher, faster and better than we were last year and even the start of this season. We now have a Goalie playing like a number 1, a Penalty kill that's kicking ass, tons of speed and wait until Kessel and everyone else get training camp and Kadri starts playing. Not too often Kordic got out-punched but he did here. I thought Kordic would've Miller'd him but Clark got the jump and that was that. Wendel always got the first punch in -.sometimes when the opponent wasn't aware there was a fight...smart or dirty? I didn't like it but Wendel could throw the dukes.
Kordic really caught him with a left after eating about 7 rights. Would've liked to see them go a few times - starting with both squaring off rather than the onslaught approach Clark usually chose.

He was a Capital for awhile and I liked the energy he brought ot the ice. My term "freak" had to do with his rep for being a heavy user. @bbmtge Probably, but when you consider that Kordic played what 8-10 years, a 60 lb mass gain is not out of the question over that time period while staying clean. There's no doubt he used: he was in possession and his fiance admitted he used. But how much of his gains were clean and much were dirty is anyones guess. And besides I don;t consider roids cheating. Nature gives you certain genetics. If I am going to be fighting guys 6'6" and 240 lbs, then to me steroids are not cheating.

Also I think that the only thing here that saved Kordic from getting killed is that fat jaw of his. Boxing experts have debated for decades about what makes you tough (the ability to take a punch). They have speculated for a long time but it seems that a larger head and a robust jaw may help. Conditioning is also a factor. I used to think Kordic was native because of his high cheekbones. @bbmtge The truth is only Kordic (and his dealer) really knows how much he was doing and if it made him a better fighter (I say it could have helped strength wise but not necessarily). So accusing him of being a freak is not fair.

@SCROGY Kordic, according to his fiancee, was a heavy user of both steroids and cocaine. It is a tragic story as he seems to have had a lot of personal issues. He was a Capital for awhile and I liked the energy he brought ot the ice. My term "freak" had to do with his rep for being a heavy user. He is estimated to have gained some 60 pounds during his time in the league. My comment was not meant to slight him. I always liked JK.

@bbmtge Probably, but when you consider that Kordic played what 8-10 years, a 60 lb mass gain is not out of the question over that time period while staying clean. There's no doubt he used: he was in possession and his fiance admitted he used. But how much of his gains were clean and much were dirty is anyones guess. And besides I don;t consider roids cheating. Nature gives you certain genetics. If I am going to be fighting guys 6'6" and 240 lbs, then to me steroids are not cheating.

@SCROGY In reality I am leveling the playing field. If you start losing fights to monsters like Leroux, Brown Grimson and Probert and you're much smaller, why shouldn't you use something to help you? Realy the only thing they will do is make you stronger in a tie up or allow you to punch harder but you still have to train specifically for what you want. That's what I meant when I said roids will not turn Pavel Bure into Bob Probert. You have to be born a tough guy first.

Wendel lost a close decision but lets not forget, Johnny Boy was 220 to Wendels 190. We love Wendel because he would drop them with anyone....no mattter when or where...hurt or tired..he would drop em. Best Leaf of all time.

@amxrtdket True. Kordic's best asset was his ability to get his gloves off quickly and begin blasting his opponent, giving the guy no chance to get back in the fight. This time the guy he fought had fast hands too. Classic fight between the two toughest young fighters at that time. Clark landed the most shots but John landed the biggest one. Good thing Kordic had a cinder block for a head. Anyone else would have been KO'd by those shots
