I prefer the anime to the movie. Love Charlize Theron, but the movie didn't live up to my expectation. I was watching the anime when I was a young teenager and I thought the movie would run along the lines of the anime and yet, if my memory serves me right, it didn't.

I went to see this with a friend of mine on my 14th birthday. There was literally one other person in the theatre. Were it not for the fact that Charlize Theron is entirely too sexy in this movie, I don't think I would have made it through the whole thing.

Aeon Flux the animated series is great. This movie however, gives science fiction a bad name.

I don't think Charlize Theron had any idea whom she was acting. They should have chose some tall and skinny acrobatics girl for the role. The animated series are full of black humour and perverse close ups. And the way the characters move in the animations just can't be depicted with clumsy wirestunts and starchy choreographies. This movie was yet another typical lame Hollywood fuck up. They took Aeon Flux and tried to make somthing like Equilibrium out of it.

@vanhavihamiehesi well charlize is a trained balerina.so acrobatics come easy to her. i think its about finding a better fit. i think maybe an unknown actress with gymnatic or acrobatic ability wouldve been good. i do see your point.hollywood really do tend to fuck up the best stories,animes etc....

The movie took one of the greatest pieces of animated art ever and turned it into... well... a Hollywood film. The cartoon spits in the face of the simplistic, bland storytelling that the film epitomizes.

This video, however, is great, both for Peter Chung's (who, by the way, called the film "a travesty") commentary on his characters and Theron at 1:43... mmm....

Completely agree. It's a shame that the plot of this movie was so lame. On the other hand, the visual effects, the sets and Charlize's wardrobe were awesome.
