  • HAHAHA THAT LUCKY BITCH

  • SO How the fuck did he pick the right one at the end? Damn this Brit. If he was in US we'd force the secret out of him we would. A gun t the head or some water boarding, proven methods.

  • @TheFoadolfat Yep, proving yet again how idiotic Americans can be. I mean anyone can be stupid, however it takes a "real winner" to support torturing someone for monetary gain. Good job keeping the American stigma up and running, ruining it for the rest of us.

  • So. How did he predict the horse racing experts? in like 4/5 or 3/5 or something... Did he do it with thousands of other horse racing experts? o.o He also did this in episode where he played 9 chess grandmasters... He can't have done it thousands of times to predict the chess pieces left...

  • @jamyupsuhsuh no he made them each other. he just copied the moves of half of them and jused them aginst the other half and vice versa :)

  • @TheGame999999999 i know how he won against the chess players... i don't know how he guessed the number of chess pieces left on the board at the end of the game though.

  • He always/almost always has some little "oops, it didn't work" near the end before revealing that it actually did work. I hope she won't continue gambling!

  • My god, what a total mind-fuck. I could see him putting a 4k bet on all five horses, guaranteeing a win. During the race, he must have held onto 4 of the tickets, while mangling them the same way she was, and then exchanging the winning ticket with her at the end, right before the reveal -- only way for this to be guaranteed to work. Lot of cash to spend on what was essentially a gag.

  • @FlashJack85 this was what i thought

  • The stupid part is that she know still believes he must have some sort of system *sign*. He had probably just placed a bet on all of them with his own money and then switched tickets or something simalar^^ to bad it wasn't for me though:(

  • the thing is Derren could place a bet on ALL the horses and it'd hardly be any big deal to him. Its more important to have one winning ticket at the end. How do we know what he did when he went away?? Or even if someone else did it and then gave him the winning ticket. 4000 on however many horses is not that much money for Derren... Just saying...

  • 3:38

    and the ill cry.

    derren ._.

  • He could have used the dog race "this is the horse you're looking for" trick instead of worrying about buying the right ticket.

  • why did he collect from the bookie when he put the bet on with the tab. Gullible peoples. have a look at the end of part 4 at where he goes to put the bet on and then have a look at end of part 5 where he collects it from.

  • THIS VIDEO PARAPHRASED:

    Lady: "Ohai, here's 4000 pounds."

Derren: "Ok. I'm just going to go around the corner and place your bet. Don't look."

Lady: "OMG, I'm so excited and nervous!!1!"

Derren: "Just so you know, I have no fucking idea who's about to win. LOLOLOLOL."

    Lady: "Fuckin' hell!"

Derren: "Well, this isn't looking good for you now, is it?"

    Lady: "Aww, shit. I'm broke."

Derren: "Look at your ticket, moron."

  • Lol I like the way when she's freaking out about the bet she's just placed watching her horse in forth, how Derren Brown hardly looks interested in her plight all focused on the race pointing out, "Yea, it isn't looking good where your horse is at, is it?" loooooooooooool

  • 2:41 "OMAIGOOOOTTAAAAA"

  • anyone think they gave back the money to the final 6 people?

  • Derren Brown has a lot of money to spend on this stuff. :P It's great though. It's great to show that there is no system or magic or lucky charms involved, even if you win 5 times in a row. Sometimes that just, well, happens.

  • so derren talked to 8000 people???

  • @ukijhu97

Workers/interns or people that worked for him probably mass messaged thousands of the same e-mail, and then it narrowed down from there. What I don't get is the part where four participants chose a picture in the picture room. For that to be possible, did he talk to thousands of people?

  • @TrevorKingKwong No I think he influenced them

  • when he first tells her, if i were her, i would punch him in the face.

  • wouldnt it be easier to just give her 4k and tell to act?

  • @errorrestricted

Weres the fun in that? ^^

  • OW MAI GAWDAH

  • there is a high probability that he is some what better than madoff...

  • Thanks for my lovers guys :P

  • @Crimewave9

    harr harr XD

  • I think the show did pay for those who have lost by the 4th bet. Or else, people would have complained about it. Or maybe Darren would be in trouble for tricking people in that sort of way.

  • LOL! Imagine she actually lost, and when she did, Derren Brown turned around and said, "HAHA! GOTCHA BITCH!"

  • I can't believe that she wouldn't have looked herself and see that it wasn't moon over miami that was on the ticket

  • It wouldnt have mattered to the people who got eliminated from the odds, because they won more money in total than the money they went in to bet with

  • I just feel so horrible for those who lost so much money on this. Can you imagine how many lives were ruined because of this?

The knowlege that even past this some of the failed people will go and gamble more makes me feel even worse.

  • @remowilliams8 They reinbursed all the others lost bettings. The uploader cut the last seconds of the clip which said just that. Just watch the other part 6 from computersolutions164

  • @Trickndel Thanks. That makes me feel better.

  • haha that would suck if moon over miami actually won

  • @169405 Derren probably had bets on all the horses in the last round and replaced the one she had for the winning one. He almost said it himself ("Do you really think that I would just gamble..."). It cost him "only" 4000 * number of horses.

  • fuck u Derren Brown. Giving me a heart attack.

  • That was an incredibly elegant lesson by example. I'm blown away by the clarity and emotional impact he achieved by simply showing a situation in which one person comes to believe a claim that, from their perspective, makes sense and feels to be true and then showing that same situation from the perspective of the person making the claim.

  • he used hypnosis suggestions to get the 4 ppl to get the pictures. he used the same initials knowing they would pick them. as 4 the 7000 ppl in the study, yes some 1 is bound to get a winning streak , thats just luk,

  • @badassreinitz "That's just luck"? Try: "That's just a mathematical certainty"

  • But still... how did he get it right with the 4 people in the room with the pictures?

  • @misterblackdark That most have been the only thing that was luck.

  • But how does that explain the stuff he did with racing experts with the pictures and the numbers on the back. A pyramid system cant explain that.

  • beepin' awesome

  • Well doh!? Figured it out 1 min into part 1.

  • lol what would he say if moon over miami won

  • Derren brown is brilliant..

he shows us the system question it and shows its flaws..

Then he leaves us with that...its just like WTF LOL

  • The way to beat the system is to rig it.

  • Brilliant! Seemingly one of a sadly dwindling few left on British TV who knows how to entertain without mocking or talking down.

    Thanks very much for posting!

  • I wanted to punch him in the face when he was explaining the system and while the rave was ending. But it turned out ok.

  • Stock brokers use this same scam in order to gain loyal clients.

  • wonder if the rest of the thousands of people he emailed will get compensation for their bets from the show?

or they just blame it on their own greed and naivete?

  • no way guys! this is how he really did it.

when the horse loses, she was sad and at that moment derren said "SLEEP BITCH"

and hypnotised her to sleep, then afterwards, he just changed it to the right ticket in her hand and the camera's rolled again.

of course he got 4 tickets for all 4 of the horses to change at will, how did he get all 4 horses?

he said "SLEEP BITCH" to the ticket man and got all 4 tickets

along with the woman's 4000 dollars in his pocket.

and he gets away with it with xtra 4k

  • lmao

  • @Crimewave9 hahahahahaahah you are fucking funny lol

  • @Crimewave9 I think he used the 'paying with paper'-trick at the cashiers

  • @Crimewave9

Crimewave9, u live up to your brilliant name. xD

  • @goldragons thx i wish it was brilliant as as Derren's SLEEP BITCH trick

  • @Crimewave9

    hhahahahahaha best ever!!!

  • @pyrointeam Thanks haha :D

  • @Crimewave9 lol wtf dude

  • He placed a $4000 on EVERY horse and slipped her the correct ticket after it had won. Which is exactly the same method he used for everything else in this episode...nice touch. :D

  • i dun think there's another layer to this pyramid, i think she really was the last one, the only one to go face to face with darren, but how did darren guess it right? well, he didnt, his guess was wrong, but by simply saying that the bet was on no.2, she wouldnt look at the ticket, and she never did i'd assume. and there were 5 horses, £4000 x 5 is £20000, which isn't alot to be part of the budget of a tv show. he simply switched the ticket after he found out which one.

  • wow

  • LOL. F the system.

  • I'm also surprised that after explaining how he did all that, you think he ACTUALLY "knew" the winner in the end... there was another round of people beyond the original thousands, she was not the last one... she was still 1 of 6, they just chose to end it there, creating the illusion.

  • Brown spent the entire time with her. It seems more likely that he make a 4k bet on each horse, and swapped out her ticket after the race. This has the same effect, but requires 38880 fewer people.

  • I don't think so. He said the dame exact thing to the remaining 6 people, not just her. She just happened to "win" out of them thus that is the only one out of the other 5 hopefuls that they showed at the conclusion of this Darren Brown show.

  • I knew he was going to do this to her.

  • I'm so glad he let her win.

  • Its genius and all, but i do not understand how he picked the last horse? was that just another random, computer programed decision, and he just thinks its going to be the winner because SHE herself is lucky?

  • He just placed a bet on all the horses. He's not looking to make money on the bet itself, but on the show he's producing; he gets paid by Channel 4. So he places a bet on each horse, knowing only one of the tickets will win, and the rest of the tickets won't. If her horse happens to win (as it was favored to), then Mr. Brown looks like a genius. If her horse loses, then he gives her the winning ticket after a moment of worry. And he looks like a genius and a clever showman to boot.

  • @PianoWallaby

but he says himself hes a showman and a illusionist..

he also here if u listened carefully

asked "does the system really exist?"

  • @fireking345 I am not sure what your comment is about, but in case you thought I was criticizing Mr. Brown, I was not. Someone had just asked how this trick had worked, and I explained it. I think the show was brilliantly done.

  • I feel so sorry for the ones who lost, especially in the last round :(

  • @hermanessences Nobody lost in the last round. He placed 5 bets, and gave her the 1 that won.

  • @hermanessences they didn't didn't lose any money .. they actually ended up having more than what they started with (20P) .. that's why derren only apoligized to the losers in the first race because they actually lost 20 pounds

  • @gorogawa the players in the first round did not make any bet, if you remember, the tip said " DO NOT BET" first time

  • @iosk8 maybe .. who cares anyways? :)

  • @hermanessences They were paid back for sure. :)

  • @hermanessences I would hope the show paid them back...

  • @hermanessences

Fortunately (or unfortunately), this video clips JUST before the end of the episode. At the real end it states that at every stage, every participant was offered a full refund.

I still do wonder how he knew to stick with her during the race to be filmed, but I think he placed the bet on all of the horses and swapped out the right one when her's lost. This is merely speculation, though

  • @Muffinzeshlongun how do you know the video clips. i dont see any change in the time counter. i am just curious and if you dont mind telling me. thanks. i know this is a comment from a year ago, but i do hope you will tell me.

  • @SuperLoganjames

If I remember correctly, I watched this episode on a different video and it went a bit farther than this one did. Again, I really can't remember that far back

  • @hermanessences nah he told them to bet less than they had won in the previous rounds

  • @hermanessences They were refunded - so that's more than most losing betters can hope for.

  • He was fortunate that she didn't look at her ticket he gave her as when he swapped it later for the winning ticket she'd have known the trick.

Do hope the others were compensated though I would have thought they would have said!

  • actually just saw another clip which said at the end all participants were offered a refund on bets they had lost.

  • doesent matter

  • As others said, they almost certainly bet £4k on all the horses and then swapped her ticket for the ticket of the winning horse. Though I do wonder whether they compensated all the 7000+ people that they had bet on horses from the start onwards!

  • Everyone was compensated, but they didn't need to compensate 7000 people because in the first round, they were told NOT to bet, but just keep an eye on the result to gain there trust,so thats over 5500 people eliminated without spending a penny. In the 2nd round they were told tojust bet a small amount that they could afford to lose, about 10 or 20. Small change for a TV company.

This left just 216 people, and the bets were still relativly small, about 20-50 each.

  • he's always fuckin' fooling me the bastard.

  • if i would lose that much money coz of derren id beat him up :P

but he ll probably make me not wanna do that with some kind of trick

  • i was hoping he would do the thing where he gets money for losing tickets like he did with the guy at the dog races

  • but she won :)

  • When This Was On C4, I Was So Gutted, My Sound Stopped Working On My TV On C4

  • wow haha, intense

  • If that were the case, they were lucky with a stranger's acting skills. :) I think Derren just swapped it while she was staring numbly or something, he's really good at pickpocketing anyways.

  • surley they wouldn't trick us like that ?!

  • i don't get it there he goes debunking the whole system thing yet he knew which horse would win !

  • all the losing participants were given a refund... weren't they?

  • Yes.

  • did u watch the whole thing? or are you just a tard?..she fuckin won smart ass.

  • she won. watch it again

  • I don't like this - I thought to myself that this was the only way I could comprehend a working system but when he revealed how it was done I could have hit him lol

  • Makes me happy to see her happy.

  • what a twist and a smashing finish! derren brown is simply amazing

  • holy crap

  • lol

    hes a genius

  • she looks like she`s gonna slap the shit out of him 3:35 hahaha

  • look at her quick change of expression at 1:38

  • He said there were only 7,776 contestants at the start but I think this must be a further trick on the audience; he must have used 46,656 to make this work and not told us about the others who actually lost the bet on the final race - at least they were refunded =)

  • He probably just bought 5 tickets 4k on each, and swapped the ticket in her hand.

He will of told her to hold the ticket no matter what and to not read it.

  • It probably makes more sense to simply pocket the cash when he's out of sight and use an actor as the bookie when the payout is made rather than lay out 20 grand. He may have switched the tickets but it's more likely he just used the, "this is the winning ticket" trick.

  • It's very unlikely he used that. Way to much money and not the appropriate conditions. He could pay for 1000s of video cameras, he can afford to bet 6 times.

  • Perhaps, but that wouldn't make sense because he was standing with her the whole time. The only way it could have worked is to have the final race different for each person, but even then if that were the case the odds aren't narrowed in the final race, it still remains 6:1

  • very true, i withdraw my comment ^^ though there is definitely something we haven't seen

  • lol at derren's face at 3:40

  • wota climax. loved the programme. bt feel sorry 4 the thousands of other people that put hundreds of pounds on haha.

  • Only the ones that lost on the second race actually lost any money all the rest wagered their winnings from the previous races.

  • Erm... you seem to have missed a few minutes out between part 4 and 5. You probably already know this, it's just slightly annoying. Oh and in response to the comment below this: it's not rubbish and Derren DOESN'T USE STOOGES. he never does. he simply doesn't need to dumbass

  • okay listen to my system, when u went from part 4 to part 5 did u bother the to check whether they are from the same person, i mean the person who posted..the answer is no..u didn't thats why u lost those annyoing minutes..lol

  • OH yeah i forgot coz you live with him??

  • . . . you do understand that it aired as one episode AFTER the races happened.

It's pretty clear early on what he's doing. There was only ever the chance of some illusion being the point of the episode (see his dog track clip), however when he starts talking about probability. Remember, numbers don't lie.

As for the end he almost certainly bets on all 6 horses.

  • "NOOOO NOOOOOOOO OH I DONT BELIEVE IT, my horse didnt win."

Thats a tough life youve got there love.

  • that fucking wad of cash

  • this is so so great! "a belief system"!! Amazing!

  • I can flip a coin and get head every time

  • People are still saying whats the system?

He explains it in the video lol. It is a trick of deception.

If he had only showed the footage of this lady we would be mystified also.

  • how about the experiment with the pictures and the envelopes etc. did he also perform this experiment with 999999 people who are racehorse trainers, journalists etc.

i also think the same way as durmiendo, if he did not bet for all the horses in the last race then it would be a total violation of the system.

  • well i spent an hour watching that! what a conn!

  • If that women really thought that D.B had just cost her £4,000 she would have laid into him in my opinion..

  • its a pyrrole amide scheme.

  • i think that its fuking wasome :p

  • if i wouldf lost 4000 i woulda wooped derrens ass..lol..j/k

  • THERE IS NO SYSTEM. he explained it.... were you not listening?

  • oh come on man, you missed the sarcasm?

  • Ok here's my though on this: I think Derren and the TV show producers agreed to pay out the winning amount no matter the outcome. I believe the slip he gave to Kadisha was just a make believe for us the viewers. Since we cannot see the content of the slip, it remains controversial whether or not he really chose the winning horse. Kadisha would have won no matter what, not because Derren was right but because the show would have paid her money no matter the outcome. Y'all let me know what u think

  • I think a lot of "figuring out" D.B. depends on if you believe he doesn't use stooges. Assuming Khadisha wasn't just bs'ing - and it really looked like she wasn't - D.B. could have placed bets on all 4 (or was it 5?) horses, and switched the slip before she looked at it (but after the winning horse was known). Some of his other tricks are rumored to use this method (like the chess trick, and the b-day present trick), so it's a likely explanation...

  • SO WHAT IS THE FUCKING SYSTEM?

  • There is none. The whole idea of it was that he could create a system of 'belief' that was so powerful it could make a person willingly bet impossibly large amounts of money on something so impossible as a gamble. That 4,000 dollars, no matter how little it might seem to you, represented her livelihood. So, of course, 'the system' had to be quite powerful to convince her to - of all things - gamble it willingly.

  • Wait. That means the last bit is just magic. How the fuck did he do that?

  • bet 5 different tickets, 4k each

  • but he only gave her one ticket before the race :P

  • He could have just used some sleight of hand to place the winning ticket in her hand.

  • genious

  • OOHH MY GODDDDAAAAAAAA

    WTF lady...

  • Deren should let her lose the money, so she would learn a lesson. No pain, no gain.

  • lol that lady was excited about 4k pounds on her horse

derren probably had like 400k on that horse

  • Great showmanship :-) I like him

My guess is he bet his own money in all of them and managed to swap her ticket in a moment of attention, he's good at misdirection.

  • yes i guess too! or mayB the TV-Channel paid it =) but its a very nice trick for this (now not longer) poor lady ^^

  • Haha, at 3:40, after she says she'll cry until she dies, look at Brown's expression.

  • i rekon theyre are possibly 6 or so ppl left tht have been filmed throughout, but we're only seeing the story of the winner

  • Exactly, the deception was that there were still more people who are being filmed, we're just being showed the footage of the person who actually one. The others who lost, probably got their money refunded back to them by derren.

  • Yep!

  • But how? Derren can't be at six places at once?

  • Absolute genius, not just with this, but with all his presentations. However i question why did he change the bet? How was the winning horse chosen, if this really was genuine?

  • since she won £13,000, that makes the odds of the winning horse around 3:1, probably the favourite. if it had lost, maybe he would've given her money back or put £4000 bets on all the horses, which isn't unlikely when they'd refunded almost 8000 their money already.

  • Derren Brown is tha best

It works for me one time when i wasn't aware of it.

Fuck with the mind. The force is strong with you ;)

  • I had guessed it fairly early in the show, but purely due to his book, in which he says how probability is just a measure of frequancy, and how perception is decieving.

    Brilliant book, highly recommend it.

  • I was the guy that said 'you win some you lose some', damn my classic lines lol

Pretty cool i got in the final six, but shame about not winning and all

    Paul

  • Paul, did you bet as much as kadisha did ? Was she 'talked' into getting the large amount of cash ? Are you allowed to publicly talk about this ? If not, just let me know :)

  • I can't help but think that if anyone else did this except Brown you would be VERY pissed off that it was basically a 'scam'. Somehow I just thought at the end -"fair play". He is a true showman.
