  • great video probably one of the best i have seen the sound is rare and perfect.cheers sham64andahalf

  • Punky blues I love it!!!

  • and what was my 'vintage' of fan liked.,. well maybe the aggression, majesty, beauty, irony and bluntness that sealed the deal for many of us. Rattus Norvegicus, as a 14 year old kid on holiday in Wales I begged my parents to buy this for me . Blimey what an album, definetely not suitable for such a tender age hehe

  • has any1 read hughs book? is it worth reading or not? cheers 4 any input

  • @southendboi17 yeah it iz....

  • is JJ playing a 5 string there? i cant quite tell

  • No. It's just a Yamaha BB2000 4 string.

    AL

    USA

  • shades of morrison hotel...great tune of course.

  • Well spotted dude!

  • the version is really great.

the funny thing is, that later that evening the german audience began hissing and insulting the band and they insulted back.

there was a lot of bad feeling at this gig and they finished it playing lousy on purpose!!!

  • itram63..hugh is not the cornerstone of the band, he is the tombstone of the band!

  • Hugh WAS the band.

  • if you say so...........

check out who wrote which song,

like in the beatles, everyone sang his own

  • Somebody mentioned support bands. I remember the following, Hazel O'connor, Tea-Set, Steel Purse, Doctor spratts 20th Motets, Dictators, Cure, Boys in darkness, I'm sure U2 once supported them too, Didnt JJ smack one of them?

  • remember flying pickets at manchester appollo 79/80 saw them 5 times at the old apollo

  • amazing song with a super cool bass sound !

  • JJ Burnel.....best bassist ever!!!!

  • what can you say, timeless song, always gives you a great nostalgic feeling when you hear it? long live the ratius 1v

  • Heaven is this brilliant, brilliant! JJ (Burnel) and company channeling Jim (Morrison) and The Doors bluesy idiom. The Stranglers - the band that time will not forget! Honest - thank G-d for the Web and YouTube.

  • I think this was the first song jj sang why he didnt sing more i dont know, i saw a iinterview with him where he said he couldnt sing how wrong you are jj. most origanal band ever so distinctive. its Such a shame hugh cornwall left whta was he thinking. Iheard he wanted to return to the band but jj said no apparently when he left as asolo artist he first refused to play stranglers songs but when hes solo carear failed he stated puttng there hits on the b side of hes singles.

  • shuggy was a knob

JJ and Dave had all the tunes

Shug had the ideas, image attitude and wherewithall..hence he plays pubs these days and looks good but plays shit

  • @glastonburysong

I dont agree entirely. The Stranglers output since Hugh hasnt been (with a few glorious exceptions) of the qaulity of the initial years of the band. Hugh was the VOICE of the stranglers. His singing voice was so emblematic of the band. In the early 80s and after the Hugh period in the 90's I saw the band live a number of times. Without Hugh the band wouldnt have been famous, period. Without the others (JJ Jet and Dave) its doubtful too

  • The diversity of this band is second to none, love it.

  • raw and wonderfull, RATIUS NORVEGICUS 1V

  • is this the first song that 'jj' sang?.......i liketo think that hugh was the cornerstone of the band

  • watch your back shes behind you? ooh ooh

  • one of the most amazing things about this performance is that Hugh doesn't play a single bum note.

  • can anyone remember the strange support acts the strang had in those days?

i'm sure i saw the great george melly once.

  • ratius norvegicus, my top stranglers album, one of many great tracks on album?

  • dave best keyboards i ever saw they strangled me to death

  • could someone help a brother out and send me this song? much appreciated

  • install soulseek!

  • For example - Amazon can. Or any music shop.

  • Wow. That was probably the best live performance of them i have ever seen

  • i've been playin bass for 7 weeks (my first instrument) and i got the tab for this song just yesterday and i've enjoyed playing it so much i can play the whole song already is that good??

  • grandi

  • JJ is a fantastic bass player, but a mediocre singer.

  • thats a matter of taste, cocksucker :)

  • long live to 80's rock

  • smashin' stuff! I used 2 play this as JJ 'n' Hugh!

  • Now this is a performance...JJ excellent on the bass, Hugh playing an awesome lead/rythmn riff.

And to say that some people seem to suggest that he's not a good guitarist...

  • "Princess of the pack..."

  • brilliant!

  • YEP. BRILL. TA VERY MUCH

  • excellent,cheerz
