  • Philip Morris tried marketing a cigarette with "valuable coupons" in 1964 [initially featuring Richard Carlson as their spokesman]- "Galaxy" (also made available on packs of "Alpine" as well). That brand was more successful than "Colony"...

  • Colony Cigarettes were introduced (and apparently quickly failed) in 1967. I found this interesting tidbit about them out on the 'net: "Colony was an unsuccessful attempt by The American Tobacco Company to add a filtered coupon cigarette to the specialty brand niche dominated by Raleigh, Kool, and Alpine. An illustration of a colonial tobacco farmer rolling his hogshead to market was used for the pack graphics."
