Uhm, having gone back ~6-7 pages in this comment section I've yet to see a single person that claims that this game or the 40k universe is a rip-off of GoW or Starcraft but 8/10 comments on each page is people talking about how 40k is 25 years old and/or older than previously mentioned. Hence I must say: Since we are all obviously aware of this fact who the F* are you all trying to convince?

As a GoW, Halo and most of all 40K!!!!! Nerd (proud of it) I can safely say this game did in a way "reproduce" certain elements of the game but as for Space Marines and Gears being alike?... ahem... right... Gears are more like Catachan then anything else. The game though is COMPLETELY differently played on online... Gears also seems to be set in the Age of Strife (Learn your lore before you argue) In my little nerd world I put 40k, Halo and Gears in the same "universe"...

This isnt a rip off of "Gears of war." "Dawn of War" (which was the first were the space marine came from came out in 2004. Gears of war came out in 2006 two years later fucking idiots.). Gears would be stealing from this game not the other way around ur fucking stupid. even if it was similar ur a dumbass for turning it down. game play is much different than gears so it could be a fun transition since not many games try something like this. Get ur facts straight ur pathetic.

It is true a lot of GOW fans think that this is a rip off, which is in fact false, as the only thing the two games have in common is that both of them are third person shooters. The two games are completely different, however, since GOW is one of the more successful third person shooters, this comparison is quite inevitable. People who are not familiar with both universes will very likely make such mistakes of assuming Spacemarine is a rip off of 40k

@urukhai31 That's what I'm talkin about. One downside I will speak of here now that the game is out that sadly they KNEW how hardcore fans were to their particular sides. Why didn't they offer us a side preference option like Section 8 and many other shooters did? It didn't grantee you that you would play as one side or the other, but it would try and sort you to the side you wished to be on if it could according to your preference. Why this was not included in the final version is beyond me.

It even precedes the Starcraft universe!

@JasonStogia The Starcraft universe was born out of necessity of Games Workshop pulling the license from Blizzard back in the day. Yes, there is a reason why many things are similar. Including the Protos looking like Tau and of coarse the hulking power armour.

Sure the CG stuff looked quiet different, but when it's a little small avatar from sky high view, those little guys look about the same don't they? Blizzard did decent with an original story and universe that had to be forged for it.

@mnmIDesigns Well, everything is derived from something, and being that GOW is the younger universe, it is obviously affected by 40k in some way. COG armor design was likely inspired by Mjolnir armor of Halo universe or the Terran Marine of Starcraft, which was inspired by w40k space marines. The chainsaw rifle was probably inspired by any zombie movie or the chainsword of 40k.

I actually used to work with a guy who was previously employed with Microsoft and had quite a few friends on the development team for Gears. Apparently GoW was originally suposed to be Space Marine until they scrapped the project, changed it a little bit, and released it as Gears. Makes perfect sense if you've ever played Gears - especially since Blizzard did the EXACT same thing with Warcraft.

I like it, the community sucks on all MP titles so I did not expect any different with this. I like it though all in all. And its a nice change from the same old killstreak bullshit. Could have had more game modes instead of the 2 available, and I hope that is not a sign of DLC rip offs in the future including game modes that should have been in the box. Its a good crack but its going to be a long slog from rank 35 to 41. Looking forward to the co op DLC :)

@RazzyReikoCanFly People not working together has become a situation of the human condition. i actually have found people who work together. HOWEVER, the fact that many do not would actually lend it's self to the lore at times. Many loyalist Chapters, and several Chaos Legions, do NOT GET ALONG! They may have their separate orders and rivalries thus. They may indeed not work together.

As for assaults, they have weaker armour. Melta can one shot them, and devs can sometimes win in close.

THey will reward armor costumizations i think in the multiplayer but i do not see any room for a dread naught because it would simply crush the other team since you need more then 8 marines to take a dread. and heavy anti vehicle guns. and i dont even have to talk about terminator armor. which is actually worse then a dread.

@IIIMAVER1CK V only killstreak i consider game breaking was the nuke, the others can be dealt with by using your brain. kill rewards can be good, it adds more chaos, Imagen both teams bringing in a dread that is Ai controlled and, say kill-streak is unlocked through team play rather than solo which will also encourage working together something the COD devs don't even think of! so the team as a whole are rewarded than just one player, i think that would be far more balanced than one OP player

Besides, this was recorded with a test build where everyone was as high a level as possible so that they could try out every weapon and perk so the experience bar may've just been left out or disabled for the preview build.
