I really love the look of the Evo I shoes. One way of reducing issues with material chafing causing blisters is to apply a light smear of vaseline on the toes. Nice review, thanks.
@sharpanator I have the same problem and can offer some recommendations. First and foremost use some stretching techniques, massage etc, before your run. A nice gadget called The Massage Stick is priceless when comes to calf muscle. Wear compression socks during your runs, to minimize oscillating muscle movement on impact . Pick your running route close to bailout point and listen to your body. Run on soft , natural trail and avoid stepping on roots , stones etc.
hey nice review. my one suggestion would be to review minimalist shoes based on the assumption that someone watching this review has a base-knowledge about barefoot/minimalist running, so you're not having to explain the concept during each video. encourage those who don't have a base knowledge to research barefoot/minimalist running on their own (or refer them to some sources) before they watch this video. This way, it can make your reviews much more effective, in my opinion.
We would happily replace the shoes with an alternative size. But we would charge you to ship the replacement pair to Japan. So with the cost of returning them to us added this could work out a bit expensive for you.
@BarefootAthleteVideo hey, do the evos have a roomy toebox? one of my concerns is how shoes deform and weaken toes overtime.. i know with barefoot running, toes and lengthen out and strengthen gradually. can this be done with evo??
This shoes suck.I bought a pair of vivo barefoot Neo , it the worst shoe i ever wear , too tight over the instep , too wide on the heel area , heavy and too ugly .Before making this shoes they should wear them first .All vivo barefoot have the same sole shape , good luck buying these shoes .
Before spending 150.00 dollars on a pair of these get yourself a 1.50 pair of wallmart water shoes. Ive ran in them after my vibram five finger's gave me blisters. I would still run in them if the upper mesh didn't stretch. I'm actually buying a pair of these tommorow since they wont stretch but honestly its a water shoe with laces as far as functionality goes. Still a grate shoe.
You don't "become a barefoot runner" by running in shoes... even "barefoot running shoes." That said, evo's probably have their place in a barefoot runner's closet.
Hi, You are right of course. We seem stuck now with the term "barefoot running" when most people really mean forefoot strike running in shoes. But the term is used so much that there seems no chance of changing now.
@BarefootAthleteVideo I still think people should stop referring to minimalism as "barefoot running" because it could make people think that running in minimalist shoes is equivalent to running barefoot. A lot of people get injured because they start running in a shoe like the Evo without realizing the importance of actually going barefoot.
@cmalchik some us dont have the luxury of living in the country... I moved from the Country to the city, theres glass and shards of stuff everywhere trust me I'm glad I have minimalist "barefoot" shoes.
Great, thanks for this review! This is the only explanation I've seen so far of the difference between the Evo and Evo II. And now I'm conflicted, because the original Evo seems more breathable, but I don't want any blisters! :)
I'd suggest you try Evo I and assume you are among the majority who find them comfy. Evo II are quite tricky to track down anyway. We have sold quite a few Evo I and havent had any back so far.
Hi, Both Vivobarefoot and Five Fingers shoes are completely flat. I had high arches but my feet have changed since I have worn barefoot style shoes all the time for the last 6 months. I no longer have high arches and my feet have widened as they sit flatter.
By all means give us a call if you want to discuss this further.
where did you find those grey and black evo 2 's im conflicting between those and the neo.

Decent review, but how to they handle trail running?
Also, any chance you'll do a video review of the Neo?

will they fit people with high arches?

Maybe the best review on both shoes I have found. Great price on your site too, I think also the best on the net.
Keep on the good work.

Great review of both the Evo and Evo 2! The only downside for me is the price. 160 USD is high price to pay. Any idea what the lifespan might be?
