They might explain more about Blackbeard in the next pirates movie; to make him more interesting. I don't know if they really are, but it's my theory that if Blackbeard will be included and not in the same way as Barbossa, that's what will happen. After all Jack and Mr. Gibbs have to find a way to get The Black Pearl out of the bottle.

Every time the clergyman opened his mouth, I groaned. His dialogue was so stale and the mermaid was just there to be there after a while. Say what you want about Orlando Bloom, but at least he held a sword and fought. His "replacement" did absolutely nothing. Oh, and the whole "she drowns him thing"......I wish they would've added another scene because if you listen to one of the pirates earlier, he says a mermaids kiss prevents drowning and she kissed him.

@7Rochester1 They didn't add another scene with them because they wanted people to wonder what happened...for suspense:P Supposedly both philip and syrena are coming back in the next pirates movie.

I liked the first 3 a WHOLE lot, but On Stranger Tides it just didnt seem.........right, I guess. I mean, it was just too off step or off key with the plot and I am hoping they correct that in the next one (if they make one)

I like Blackbeard but Ian McShane could have done better but I do really like his death. One thing that they should have used more was how he can use voodoo magic as I think he only did it once in the film

Don't know why everyone say Pirates 3 is so bad, I loved it, I kinda thought it was the best in the series, it had the best action,acting,and overall the atmosphere of the 3rd film is really good, my only 2 complaints are 1 yes it is to complicated, and 2, 170 min long, thats way to long. But overall I love all 4 Pirate movies, I hope for a 5th one.

I've only seen Ian McShane in this and 'The Dark is Rising'. He brings gravitas and foreboding to his characters but sadly not much else. I liked Elizabeth and Will but their story ended with 'At World's End'. I actually liked the Philip/Syrena subplot. In recent times its become rare to see a sympathetic religious character.

I know. You'd think that with getting rid of Kiera Knightley and Orlando Bloom that would be a sign that they've learned that the Romantic Plot Tumor does not work and is very much unwanted by the fans and casual audiences alike. But, of course not! They had to add an interspecies romance between a priest and a mermaid.

What did they think was going to happen? Add more female fans? I'm female and I went with my girlfriends, we all groaned in disgust at those scenes

The original pirates movie was very good, probably because they didn't believe there would be any more. 2 and 3 aren't terrible, but they were unnecessary.

Another point, a trilogy isn't bad in and of itself, but they do tend to work best if they were designed that way from the beginning, it's really a lot of work if you decide after the first one comes out.

The first 3 movies are some of the best movies I've ever seen. The 4th one sucked. The only good things about it were the Mermaids, Rush, and Depp.

And really, if you're going to try to top Davy Jones, you need to do better than boring character with a smoking beard.

The mermaids are actually the main reason I thought it was better than 2 and 3. In my opinion Penelope Cruz was the person who made the movie worse. I loved her accent, but the fact that she tried to sound smart, but wasn't, was just plain stupid. That's just my opinion. I did liked the movie better than 2 and 3,though. Because it actually has a plot xD.

The reason he doesn't want to zombify himself is that he wants to keep his humanity. The traditional voodoo zombie, as is shown in this movie, is a dead body that has its soul controlled with no will of its own.

I really loved all four films but he is right about it being a little too complicated. When the movies were over I found it really hard to remember and relay the plot to others when talking about it afterwards and I'm usually pretty good at that.

@MadameTamma - Yea. Not to mentioned that these movies are made by DISNEY themselves. Regardless they are live-action movies, disney does a great/good/decent job at letting the audiences breathe into the story, plot, and characters without going overboard with its complicated material. Even a very younger person would know all the stories from the Disney animated movies.

Why does EVERYONE say that 2 and 3 sucked. I agree they weren't as good as the first but I thought they were worthy successors. That is only SLIGHTLY annoying. What REALLY annoys me is the fact that people say the 4th one is the best since the 1st. This is the movie Pirate fans have been waiting for?!? That was the most dull Pirate movie I had seen yet. And I heard so many good things about it too. A disappointment.

IMO Best Pirate Movie to Worst:

1-Curse of the Black Pearl=Best of the series.

2-Dead Man's Chest (and/or) At World's End=Totally fun and satisfying sequels.

3-On Stranger Tides=I didn't hate the movie but I didn't love it either. The only Pirates movie that left me unsatisfied. Overrated too. I was bored at certain points.

It wasn't the holocaust that was "At World's End," but it is a sure sign that the series is so close to death. It gets so many things wrong that it's actually scary. And it's even more disturbing knowing that it made as much money as it did. This is simply my opinion; for those of you that loved it, that's awesome.

@GESSO217 I agree with that. It was like Disney decided to add in a "Little Mermaid" subplot, with a touch of Will-Elizabeth to the film. I often felt like I was watching a Disney movie within a Disney movie! There were many times that I felt like gagging every time they came on screen. Hopefully they won't be in the next one!

Every movie usually has flaws and giving out the positive and negative aspects on what you think is a great way to express an opinion. There are plenty of movie trilogies besides pirates of the caribean that are better anyway. That isn't to say that do not enjoy these movies, we actually do... but not without its pros and cons.

that last two movies were good the third one is a disappointment. This fourth movie, to me, felt like, it may have very well saved the Pirate franchise. And it FINALLY had a Black Beard, and it sets up for a Pirates Five which I hope they'll make.

I rarely disagree with the critic, but i loved this movie ( and the original 3). it was honestly my favorite movie of all time. the critic says that blackbeard is a boring character, but it's kind of just that he doesn't get enough character developement. All that they really do is say he's evil and then {spoiler alert} kill him
