  • he's doesnt start using his arms until the last stretch... hey but if it works for him...

  • His form looks a little bad, but if he's getting results who am i to question it lol

  • @Pangolinist They said the same thing about Michael Johnson. lol

  • I chew gum while I run the 100, 200, 400, and 800 because it keeps my mouth moist during the race. I figure he does the same thing for that same reason, but I'm not sure. The gum does give a "boost" of some kind, to be honest.

    PRs = 1:54.98, 47.92, 22.2, and 10.93 in the 800, 400, 200, and 100 respectively. At The University of Akron.

X is a beast, straight up. Still has some loose ends to tie up, but, a beast is a beast, haha!

  • hooly cow how could do all 4?

  • To be honest, lol, I don't know. I just happened to run an 800 in HS and did really well. I'm a sprinter by all meanings of what a sprinter is. Call it heart, maybe?

I hate the 800 but I love it; ambivalence. Eh...Give me the 400 at any given dual meet or invite and I'm good ;)

  • yeah if youre a sprinter and you did good in the 800 that really is heart. it takes a lot of willpower to do that.

how exactly is it that you hate it but you love it. and yeah the 400 is a good race definately one of my favorites even though i dont run it. im not even in good enough shape to run a 100. all 60s for me.

  • o and i was looking at your times and theyre very impressive i didnt even know it was possible to run 1:54 in the 800 and 10.93 in the 100.

  • Right after high school I hit 1:54 in the 800 and 10.93 in the 100, lol! It's very possible with proper workout regiments and discipline. I wish back in high school I had those times. I did, however, grab an Ohio HS state title in the 4x200m, Div II, in 2008; my senior year :D

...Just nothing in any of my open events :/

    lol!

  • oh you were a senior in 08? me too. and thats some good accomplishments. i guess youre right about the proper workouts and discipline. the bad thing about my community college is that theres no track program but the university im gona transfer to has a good program. i want to do some indoor next year.

and just keep on training working hard

  • @FlashPac17 nice times bro....

  • @goldfangz Thanks man. You run too? What do you run? :D

  • @FlashPac17 I used to. I dont run no mo. I was a sprinter as well. 10.78, 21. 43, 48.00, 100, 200, 400, i didnt run the 800. I played with it. my best was 2: 05. 200m state champion class 4A . Arizona

  • @goldfangz Dude, our PR's would make one hell of a race, mainly 400m. You would win the 200 by about almost 10ft and it would be a win in the 100m by about 3 steps and a lean, lmao!!! Good shit with the 4A title, man. Arizona...man, that's track ALL YEAR ROUND, LMAO!!!! Dude, I gotta fight with cold-ass weather in APRIL!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!! CLEVELAND SNOW!!!!!!! FUCK, MAN!!!!! LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Just a little venting, hahahaha, but yeah, lol, good work, man.

  • @FlashPac17 how can you run a 47.9 and 10.9 but only a 22.2? based on those times id put you as 21.5 or so

  • @mrcatohead I run the turn wrong, I believe. I come out the blocks crazy fast, but I think I lean toooooo much and it translates into fatigue. When I hit the straight, approx at 140-155m, I'm almost dead; no lie. If you have suggestions on turns, let me know. A lot of coaches back then couldn't understand it. Still can't! LOL!

  • @FlashPac17 everyone is dead at the 140-155m mark. when you hit the 100-110m mark you need to consciously relax and dont try to push any more. you will feel as if you are not "trying' but in reality youll be going faster than if you were actually straining. i remember when i did that the first time..took nearly a whole second off my pb. no joke.

  • Question for Everyone:

HOW and WHY does Xavier Carter run with chewing gum in his mouth while competing in a race as tough as the 400 meters?!?!

How can this possibly help him?

As a coach and former NCAA athlete, I've never heard of such a thing. Experienced coaches, please comment...

  • Some intermediate athletes ive seen have chewed gum so they don't get cotton mouth while they are running. It's rare to see a professional athelete chew gum while they are running, but it happens!

  • I am not a coach but I do ran track. I run while chewing gum sometimes..I mean, when your running a 400, your not really chewing it as you are running, its more for before the race and after the race..

  • um for me i chew gum because it gives me somthing to focus about instead of thinking about my fatigue during the race im mainly a 400m runner but i do 200 as well my PB are 400:49.21 and 200: 22.46. I am also 16 years old.

  • Maybe he was chewing that hydrating gum they have nowadays or he's just really fast lol

  • @Visionary0001 because hes a boss

  • i don't think we've seen the last of X just yet. he's still 2 young, 2 talented, 2 strong and 2 raw 2 b written off. remember, usain bolt was running fast as a teen but didn't have a breakthrough year until '08. not sayin X will run 19.3 anytime soon but he's so versatile, i see olympic gold in his future in at least one event (100, 200, 400).

  • Machine man!

  • It didn't look like he started out fast enough in the 400, but he finished very strong.

  • shit he is full in the front..that a 9 on the limpcan u imagine s...ff

  • Kenny take this bullshit off your favorites!! peewee is a punk! and he isn't def. not palm bay finest!

  • oh shit i just saw this comment

  • should have tripled that!

  • fastttttt

  • slimboyd u dont even no track x-mans 2nd race pro he ran the then second fastest 200m 19.63 n he was technically still a sophmore in college.

tyson gay just barley ran 19.62 and he been out of college..so get a life n hop his nuts..who agrees

  • at Cold shot mania. are you insane for claiming this guy can run consistant 19.50's in the 200m come beijing. This kid hasnt run a damn high 9 secs yet and your talking about running them consistantly. Come beijing the 3 medals for the 100M going to Asafa, Tyson or derrick, in no particular order.

  • wot about bolt? "slimboyd"

  • Not guaranteed - Don't forget injuries and random Chinese athletes you've never heard of winning things.

  • you forget about Bolt????? new WR holder 9.72

  • no ah kitten! I had a buddy who ran like him in high school, all brute force and leading with their foot instead of with the thigh. Their aren't many at the elite level who can run 19.63 or 10.08-1.8wind, let alone 10.2 or 20 flat while leading with the foot. His coach holloway has made this minor change, regarding what he feels when he runs. This minor change of leading with the thigh rather than the foot will illicit devastating results.

He ran 10.00w1.8 at US Oly Trials, about .....

  • He ran 10.00w1.8 at US Oly Trials, which is about equal to his 10.08w-1.8 from 06NCAA, with this new feel of leading with the thigh. Basically he's matched this past season08, what he done in 06, for the 100. Also pretty much matched what he did in 06 at 400 44.5, with running 44.7 at reebok 08 grand prix, with this new cue of leading with the thigh.

I'd assume he would have eventually ran 19.6X this year, with this new feeling, had he not been injured.

Not far from what I believed.

  • When I first seen these videos of this devastating 06ncaa meet, I figured he ran with different cues then most runners and relied on brute force, by leading with the foot. Then I seen an interview on Him this year, and his coach holloway confirmed my suspicions. His coach said he was getting him to lead with the thigh instead of the foot. I assume he's been only putting this new feeling or cue to use since the onset of 07 fall base training, the training base for the 08 track season.

  • What exactly do you mean when you say leading witht the foot?

  • Palm Bay's Finest

  • doing the 4x4 while chewing gum!!!

  • @GoNitroOnStreetz Lol, u gotta be a real bad brotha 2 do that!

  • I do 23.13 secs in 200M and i am 14 years old 5'6" if you whant to see vid go to facebook and add me search for Earvin Torres

  • lol whats your point??

  • he slowed down at the finish, thats a good way to have your first place robbed

  • he a beast for real but if he works on his form and his explosiveness he'll definately stake his claim this olympics get closer to the 200m record (wont beat it tho)

  • this xavier carter is a beast once he gets up into his running and comfortable. the 19.63 lausanne runs tells us this as well as this 10.09 run.

as we speak, off his talent alone, i think he will run consistent high 19.5X to low 19.6X-200's and 9.9X-100's(maybe9.8X) for this coming 2008 OLYMPIC year. Basically, staking his claim to the woodwork, so to speak.

  • You must be smokin some good stuff! The only way he does that is if he runs each event twice! It is hard enough to to run sub 20 and 10 more than once seperately! stop kidding yourself. In fact if he does what you say than I would want to know what drugs he is taking so I can get some too.

  • been smokin, drinking, snortin some good stuff lol. He can do this cause he'll be running with a new more efficient feel. I believe he would have matched his 200 PR this year had he not been injured, ankle injury, with this new feeling of leading with the thigh rather than the foot. Leading with the thigh is more efficient and could be maintained and built upon all day all year long, as opposed to his old brute force feel of leading with the foot.

  • wow, x-man didn't have a good start...and he stil won, he practically chased down everyone in that race..

  • i still think he got a good chance in the 200m period, the 400 he good need to train real hard for that, but the 100m naaa he ain't gon get it but he got some excellent top speed

  • Asafa Powell will dominate from now on. tyson will have trouble in the 200, bt i reckon he'll stilll win. and wariner is unstoppable.

  • horrible 100 meter form but crazy fast cadence and long strides, if this guy learns proper sprinting mechanics he could very well be a triple threat 100, 200 and 400 @ the Beijing Olympics.

  • hahahahahaha

u are funny man, he's got no hope, powell or gay for the 100m, gay for the 200m, wariner for the 400m!!! carter, who is this carter?? hahahahahaha hes crap!

  • nigga what.. boy u trying xavier carter foreal. the man don't even compete in the 100's that much and he got 3rd fastest 200 time right now. lets get serious and for the 400 we'a see bout that

  • yep, okay, lets see it, hes gotta beat 43.45 in the 400m (haha) and 19.62 in the 200m (19.63...ooooh so close). tyson gay and wariner win!

  • ok man but you tryning x man for a joke or sum shit, like ok the 400m i can see about that but that 200m he could get a 19.61. you never know, i mean the man ran a dam 19.63 in the 8th lane. and he jus came out of college so give him some time

  • im not dissing his ability, he obviously has plenty. but u cant come out and say that he might have a chance in the 400. thats rediculous. as for the 100m, hes gotta get close to powell and tyson gay. so to be fair, his only real chance at the moment is the 200m.

  • dude stfu, hes an amazing athlete

  • is 11.17 and 22.35 good for an eigth grader who competes in aau jr olympics in the youth age division

  • Thats really good

  • Man, I still have the memory of Maurice Greene stuck in my head, literally overtaking the other guys and decelerating into the finish line at the same time. He was such a spectacle. That guy had so much flare I could not believe it. He ran with such a swagger. Shauwn Crawford was not that pacey but he had a great flare as well. I want to follow this kid and see what he's got. Don't be like Gastin Gatlin though man, cause he's fast but he can't entertain. Too emotional too.

  • UNoITube, FYI it's "...you have another THINK coming..." (not "THING"). Just a little idiomatic assistance for you. :)

  • My sons mate is quite got the school record he in grade 8 and get 12.15 in 100

  • i'm in kindergarden and i run a 100m in 10.01

  • you wish DUMBASS!!

  • im a sprinter, and i ran a 2:02 first ever 800 on an asphalt track as a sophomore in high school.

anyone can run distance, anyone can sprint. thats not what its about, its about how hard you work, and how well you can do it.

  • boycee32, you've got to be kidding me

  • i ran a 100m in 9.50

  • man sprinters are good and all, but distance runners are studs, i doubt any of the college sprinters could beat highschool all state michigan runners.

  • i hope u r reading what jbrumndsmith said cause if u really believe that, than u have another thing coming. thst cold air in michigan have to be killing the brain cells to believe that

  • im talkin about college sprinters beating highschool distance runners, even in the 800. anyone can run a 100 or a 200, but i doubt they could do anything in distance, and baller2670546, your an asshole for saying you ran a 9.5

  • No not anyone can run a 200 or 100 thats insulting to even say that... basically you're saying that even a slow person like a distance runner can run the 100 or the two as for the 800 its naturally easier to move up than it is to come down in distance you should know that... and of course a sprinter cant beat a distance runner in a distance event cause uhh they dont do it...

  • I ran an 11.75 100 and a 25.1 200 in 8th Grade. Now Im a rising senior and I run a 10.81 100 and a 21.9 200. It all depends on what kind of runner you are and what other events you run.

  • im in grade 8 i run 200 in26.53 and 100m in 12.27

  • 100, 200 and 4x400 champ

    what a beast

  • Is 11.9 good for 8th grade? :D

  • its great its a good start but u gotta train hard!

  • I know >.< thanks for the advice lol

  • what's your 200 time?

  • 24.85

pretty slow compared to my 100

  • lol this is not the 400m~

  • it's 2 videos, watch the whole thing

  • lol yha i did my comment 2 early lol

  • damn he does it in 10 seconds i do it in 15 lol

  • I remember running against him freshman year in high school in the 400... he was a sophomore and ran a 46... that's insane

  • damn right

  • when you've run a 19.63 from lane 8 at 20 years in old your first pro season, i dont think he's really that worried. But i think he should stick to 200 and obv 4x400 and 4x100 relays. I think he would have a tough time beating Wariner over the next few years - eg Rome last year where wariner blew the field (incl Carter) apart

  • He'd better specialize in something soon otherwise he will get raped by A.P in the 100 or J.W in the 400

  • He is pretty damn fast. He won't beat MJ though.

  • are you stupid??? He did the 100 in 10 seconds...400 in 44 seconds

  • he did the 100m in 10 seconds, 400m in 44seconds

  • DEM FLAWDA BOYZ BE MOVING ALL DAY EVERYDAY.... OUR MOTTO " RUN HARD OR RUN HOME" - COACH HILL FLORIDA ELITE track&field allstars

  • NeoSoulStar - you're a fucking moron.

  • Damn straight.

  • fuck LSU!

  • wow

  • lookin good wearin that yellow n purple of the ole LSU

  • X-man is amazing, so fast

  • this guy is pretty special

  • this guy is crazie fast!.......

3 events in one meet.......anyone can do that.........

but damn!>.....he made it look too easy!!

  • wow!!!!!!!! Since 1930
