  • fucking love this song. reminds me of the 5th grade

  • I used to sing this into my lava lamp, like it was a microphone, and watch the video on Alternative Nation with CC on so I could learn those tricky words! Thanks for the great flashback. I still love this song!

  • Oh my god me too!

  • How many of these views are because of Parks & Rec?

  • Ben Wyatt sent me here.

  • @KJScorpio I bet they're all wearing Doc Martens in the video.

  • @KJScorpio thank god im not the only one who remembered this band when i saw that tshirt

  • @KJScorpio i just watched that episode too. lol

  • opps dip

  • id like to did her n cheese and spread her on a cracker

  • The early to mid 90's were a golden age. Sumptuous diversity in FM radio music, introduction of internet, the WindowsPC revolution, no Cold War/Nuclear War fear (if you were there, you know the capitals are deserved).

  • Devamevanevastevarevajevalevabevaheva Jemalevafevarevabevalebajebaseba

  • damn i wish girls today were like her: simple and cute!is that hard???all snobby bitches....

  • by the way!great song from he great american grunge era of the 90s!!!!!!!!!!

  • That cute lil squeak!

  • yes the 90's. the last great generation for music, and the last great decade of mtv

  • What's with the frogs?

  • If Reese Witherspoon fronted an alternarock band....

They certainly went under the radar, I think their last album was their best one. HoweverIstilldontunderstandwhatshessayingduringthespeedchorus.

  • @drstrangeblog I used to have the lyric sheet that came with the tape. If I remember correctly, it's "The comfort of a knowlage of our rise above the sky, that will never parallel the challenge of an aquisition in the here and now". Hope this helps.lol

  • Amazing vocals, lyrics, and a down right cutie!

Letters To Cleo were never as popular as they SHOULD have been!

  • I'll definitely dress like this at least once in my life.

  • Cutest girl on earth!

  • @prozacpeople She was my first girl crush. <3

  • @jenacious7

I will love her forever and ever and endlessly...my eternal love...

  • GOD BLESS GRUNGE GIRLS!!!

  • @biba83 Aw, thanks.

  • I never heard about this band... sad I didn't knew...

  • This is why I miss the 90's so much. Music these days are rehashed, overly synthesized, and the so-called singers "voice" isn't even there own, it's evened out with a voice machine. I hate about 90% of the music out there now.

  • singers hott

  • The original Melrose Place series was one of the best high drama serials of the 1990s. Having this Letters To Cleo track as its closing theme for much of its run just made it all the better!

  • girls that r head singers rock!!!!

  • i wish girl bands rocked like this still in this decade!!!!

  • I loved the mid nineties. I remember watching 120 minutes on Sunday nights. I love how her hair looks un-brushed and kind of dirty. This is a good song but I would not have admitted it back then. This singer gives me much to think about.

  • I always thought this band would blow up bigger than they did. One great song, other good songs, maddeningly cute singer... The sound and look of the band was very "now" at the time. Maybe that's why they didn't get bigger; rock fans were very skeptical at the time, always wary of being snowed by music that was too "hip" or "corporate." Great band tho.

  • I feel like a doofus that I overlooked this group back when they were new. (I remember seeing the vid on Beavis & Butt-Head, and maybe on 120 Minutes.) At least I stayed out of the Nirvana vs. Pearl Jam debate. (Everyone in my high school was embroiled in it, but I stayed out of the loop by being partial to Matthew Sweet.)

  • @GOFLuvr Matthew Sweet was awesome...but Nirvana stomped a fuck'n mudhole in Pearl Jam's ass, walked it dry, and Eddie Vedder will swear to it!! =)

  • @NxDragon76 Oh yes, I remember that! There were the "cooler" kids (IMHO) who took the side of Nirvana, and then the not-as-cool kids all wore the Pearl Jam shirts. But I had plenty of friends on both sides. Fond memories. :-)

  • Love this song, very much miss those days; the 90's. Homesick for those days.

  • Here and now--a place I'd NOT like to be. I must be getting too nostalgic. I lived the 90's and couldn't wait they were over. Now I wish I could go back.........

  • 00:3(hehe i wonder what the rest of her looks like)00:6(hehe o yeah hehe ty very much hehe)

  • isent she in alot of movies now?

  • @wescoolya porn movies

  • this band rocks..too bad thier not around any more and can she get any hotter...;lol

  • Definitely nostalgic watching this video.. Ah.. the 90's!

  • I would like to put my pee pee in her hoo hoo

  • the girl look sooo cute...

  • Thumbs up if Beavis And Butthead bought you here!

  • Ah, when MTV used to play videos, and when those videos were actually of good music.

  • @markd325 It's funny, whenever I read/hear comments like that I feel privileged because mtv here still plays video's 3/4 of the airtime =D

  • I LOVE YOU, KAY !!!!!!

  • This look (the non-tight cutoffs-over-black-tights) is having a major resurgence in San Francisco right now (spring 2011) among teen/college-aged young women. :)

  • not many rock chicks can rap but this one can

  • Goooood, I've been on a 90's nostalgia kick forever now. When I hear this stuff it actually brings tears to my eyes, because the 90's was a great time period for music. The shitty thing is, I didn't realize at the time how great it actually was. Now that it's gone, I wish it were back.

  • @tigerslilly29 can't agree more

  • you said it ,90's had some sickness that todays crap cant compare to:)

  • This track is just the total sickness

  • The comfort of a knowledge of a rise above the sky above

Could never parallel the challenge of an acquisition in the

    Here and Now

who writes shit like this anymore? oh well

  • Jumped Shark- I am totally in agreement. BTT - Women in the 90's were so sexy! Smart, bold, passionate about life, social justice, open minded.... Man I miss those days!

  • @Darmia09 tell the women around you that THAT's what you find sexy rather than too tight too short too slutty and too stupid ;-)

  • The comfort of a knowledge of a rise above the sky

but could never parallel the challenge of an acquisition in the

here and now, here and now.

  • Every video from the 90s has the same comments" music rocked back then" "music sucks now" And there is a reason for this. ITS TRUE

  • I remember this one! SO GOOD! :D

  • You guys do know she does the theme song for My Friends Tigger and Pooh now, right? (Well, as of what? 2007?)

  • BEST. CHORUS. EVER.

  • Damn my friends and I had the biggest crush on her in 1995. I thought the 80s had great music but looking at what is happening today the 90s are a golden age compared to 2011. Sad

  • @ashland1977 I thought the 80's had horrible music, 90's was a big improvement, but right now there are so many fantastic adult contemporary, rock, blues, and folk bands it is mind blowing. Rap and Pop have taken a hit in quality imo.

  • @pallerdog You make a good point with rap and pop. They have taken a hit in quality. There are some great blues and folk bands out there.

  • so HOT, pigtails= priceless

  • great 90s boston band

  • Too Awesome..Can't withstand it's Magnetic pull of....REPEAT.

  • That's like mid-90s alt-girl in a nutshell: cut-off thrift store jeans that aren't tight with belt and black tights. There ya go. Just add sum Breeders, Veruca Salt and call me and we'll do shrooms later and listen to Phish.

  • @suzylux

Is that an offer , challenge or deal? Either or , it sounds like a good idea.

  • @suzylux

phish? most people who listened to veruca salt, sneaker pimps, letters to cleo did not listen to phish.

  • @suzylux how i loved u chics

  • @suzylux Yeeaah baby!!

  • Does she look like a trainwreck now?

  • @DrunkenOJ

Yes. Kay Handley is kinda tatted and tore up. The poster who thinks otherwise will never see her that way. I'd pass on a casual encounter with her. I suspect most guys also would unless they can close their eyes and picture her from this video. Just google her pictures.

  • This would be a tough karaoke song. Damn though I think I just might try it...

  • I used to have a crush on her :) Infectious tune.

  • She is Beautiful!

  • love this song. you people are awesome really!!!!!!!!!!

  • thank you may i have another?

  • i love Letters to Cleo specially Kay, she rocks!!

  • ...then fonzy jumped the tank

  • I WISH WOMEN STILL DRESSED LIKE THIS?

  • @BTTis4me hell yea

  • @BTTis4me yea me too..........nowadays women dress like whores

  • @BTTis4me jajajaa I was looking for this video because no one understands the way I dress! funny to find your comment.

  • @BTTis4me hahahaha I was looking for this video because no one understands the way I dress! funny to find your comment.

  • @BTTis4me why on earth would u wish that?? i would die if i was dressed like that x_x

  • @BTTis4me I'm 15 & I dress like that;

  • @BTTis4me I dress like this. I actually thought I created it, the cutoff shorts with black tights, but I've seen people in the 90s wear it, so I guess I didn't.

  • Funny, I was just thinking about the comfort of a knowledge of a rise above the sky above can never parallel the challenge of an acqusition in the here and now

  • what year did this song come out?

  • Kay is my eternal love!

  • I love 90's

  • Kay is impossibly cute in this vid. Every other one of her is either sexy or downright grunge, but this one.....WOW! Cutie-Pie!!!

  • I love this crazy-ass song. And anybody that claims they knew the lyrics [the chorus anyway] before they looked them up is a big fat liar liar pant on fire.

  • Letters to Cleo track on The Craft OST - OMFG.

  • This group introduced me to "Melrose Place"!

  • @MuscleJacker That's how I remember this song. I used to watch that damn show and this would be with the closing credits. I should be embarrassed but I'm not. haha

  • Wow. She talks fast. Whats with the eels and frogs and what not?

  • thank you... may i have another?

  • haven't seen this video in ages..been watching it over and over..think am giving myself brain damage..but it feels good :) :)

  • the song come out in 1995

  • I LOVED them...I wish they would've gotten bigger...surprises me they didn't

  • @tnlentz well, you can thank veruca salt for that!

  • she's so cute!!

  • Beavises coment to this song is so priceless..."Wonder how the rest of her bodey looks like, yeah thank you very much"... But beside that a very talented singer, only good thing on the film version of Josie and the pussycats BTW

  • come on girl give a sniff of that prize

  • Great tune!

  • I love her voice, but for some reason I jsut can't make the connection between her and it.

  • This is great. Cute girlie, group really hammers the music. Thanks for putting it up!

  • shes hot i love to know what she says at 0:55

  • @MultiFalsename "the comfort of a knowledge of the rise above a sky - could never parallel he challenge of an acquisition in the here and now"

  • @fliponline thanks

  • I gald I was a kid threw the 90's cause todays music blows it all crap

  • It's kinda sad she ended up as a backup singer for Miley Cyrus

  • sweeeeeet bass lick at 2:54 - overall this is a nice little piece of power pop, bit gimmicky but well done

  • i know it in bauhaus (lima , peru disco)

  • oh, the 2000s have a sound all right. AUTOTUNE.

  • Does anyone know what she says in the "fast part" of her lyrics?

  • @81tflores The comfort of a knowledge of a rise above a sky above can never parallel the challenge of an acquisition

  • @mporr316 Thanks... Its hard to hear whats she saying cause shes good at saying it fast...

  • @81tflores ... it's a boston thing; we're known for being extremely fast talkers. ive been told to talk slower so people can understand me... makes me wanna talk faster instead.

  • @81tflores she's saying: "the comfort of a knowledge and i'll rise above the sky above we never parallel the challenge of an acquisition in the, HERE AND NOW...". I LUV THIS SONG!!!!!!! THANK U BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD for introducing me to this band and song =)!!!

  • @Phitsamay79 Thanks!!

  • 2:53, that bass line is bad-ass.....

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • omg omg omg i want a fricken time machiiiiine!!!! *sigh*

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • This song makes me so happy. I love this band and I love the bands it spawned (Stacey Jones would go on to form American Hi-Fi and Kay is now in Palmdale). They're also super sweet people every one. Love it.

  • @Colierrannd2 Heck yeah to all of this!

  • I heard this song at my gym recently that plays 80's & 90's songs from commercial free satellite radio. . A refreshing Alternative Edge Modern Rock tune from 1995. Having an attractive lead singer always helps draw you in as well.

    Great song!

  • jumping rope. cunt.

  • Who liked this song before melrose place? anyone? thumbs up if you do

  • @Colossus3999 wtf is melrose place? sounds shitty....

  • @celticurse extremely popular 90's tv drama. kind of a precursor to "the oc".

  • @celticurse A very Shitty TV show back in the 90's this song and video were in the credits

  • @Colossus3999 I never watched Melrose Place. Beavis and Butthead actually introduced me to this song. Only then did i start to see the video on MTV. Hmmm. Videos on MTV. What an odd concept.

  • I miss the 90's Music today music blows

  • @JumpedShark I'm 52 and I agree with you 100%. The best music came out in 90s. What comes out today anyone could write.

  • @JumpedShark I agree todays crap all sounds the same to me, it SUCKS!!!!!

  • you could have just said "Hey, i know the really fast part, so i live this song"

  • White Ford Bronco's 90s Song of the Day 10/5/10

  • the first time who I see this video

    I finished kiss the screen

    I love you girl !

    90S RULES !

  • One of my favorite songs from the 90s. The entire CD is excellent!

  • always loved these guys and have all the albums and now following Kay's solo work...one of the most underrated voices in pop

  • I listened very closely to the chorus and I think I got the lyrics :

"Ubba nubba gubba flubba dubba wubba wubba wubba

Tubba tubba wubba flubba rubba dubba gubba zubba"

  • @gwxk It's actually, "The comfort of the knowledge of the rise above the sky above can never parallel the challenge of the acquisition of the here and now, here and now."

  • @luna124 You're probably right. But my version makes more sense than that meaningless drivel. BOOYAH !!

  • great song I forgot about

  • I LOVE THIS SONG SALUDOS DE CHILE DE VALPARAISO ESPECIALMENTE !!!!

  • She is so beautiful and I'm addicted to this song!

  • Boston Rock at its best they put on an awesome show

  • i like dangerous type....that song rocks so hard. if u listen she kinda sounds a little like madonna in dangerous type (to me anyway)

  • i love this fcking song really funny and smart written

  • I was just thinking, doesn't she look kinda like the chick from the show "Fringe"?

  • nce song

  • I love Heavy Metal but Letters to Cleo is one of my favorite hidden guilty pleasures. Great band!!!

  • @tat2kat70 never ever ever let anyone make you feel guilty about your pleasures. I love metal too, I love punk and pop and LTC is in my top 5 ever. Always will be I suspect.I've seen big burly bikers with tats everywhere get excited when I put LTC on the jukebox. Gotta love them.

  • Not true, I lived through the 70s 80s and 90s and although different people listened to different things, they all had character that this decades lacks.

  • @Zippymt I don't agree at all. Maybe its because you're a bit older that you can't see it, do decade squish together once your hit 30? But its not like the last 10 years was dull.

In 2020, now-teenagers will hear Kings of Leon and feel the same nostalgia that I feel for Letters to Cleo, Sneaker Pimps, Elastica and the Cardigans.

  • @bearofhappiness I did not mean there is no good music out there now but the norm is very lack luster. The last Decade may not have been dull but what was it about? I may very well just be getting too old to appreciate the world around me as I once did but I honestly think it is more that there is very little culture right now.

  • eh, you cant define the music of a period until its far enough in the past to look at properly...

  • i love kay, i love her doll face, is my platonic love,

  • I just wanna grab those pig-tails of hers and do all sorts of dirty things.

  • @turdpyle she still looks like that now at age 41, I will be impressed.

  • @turdpyle you and me both lol

  • @turdpyle ---been thinkin that myself for years
