Learning Yiddish is not necessarily about practicality. As for Hebrew, it would be harder for me since it is so different from English.
Although Yiddish does contain some Hebrew and Aramaic words, it is essentially Medieval High German classified as Western Germanic (along with English, Dutch and other west German dialects). As such it is easier for me to learn (not that it is easy). It's actually most similar to Bavarian, Swiss and Austrian dialects. Yiddish just sounds good to me.
