  • If you watch Chet Atkins very much you notice real fast that he got a lot done without jumping around like a po-go stick. Connie is just gushing out music and song here and hardly more that her lips moving and heart beating. Yes, that Marty Stewart fell into the arms of the right woman here, that lucky guy.

  • I wish I could go back in time...I'd have married Ms. Connie Smith...

  • Thank You Bill Anderson for writing a geat song as usual.

  • Dallas Wayne IS her biggest fan.

  • they just don't come looking and sounding like connie any more.this is true classic country .beautiful in looks, extremely talented.

  • The Rolls-Royce of female country singers, sit down Taylor, shut up and listen to how it is done witout being mostly unclothed, and good looks, oh and something else you will never be blessed with---talent!

  • @drmountebank1 ahmen to that, todays country music shouldnt even have the tiltle, its all more like rock than anything else.

  • Rip the audio from this tune at soundnabber doht cohm.

  • Bill Anderson wrote this song

  • No one sings like this lady! What a voice!

  • Connie Smith was and is, FIrst Class Country! What a great voice. I've been an avid fan since first hearing her in 1967. Love this gal.

  • I have been a Connie Smith Fan since 1977,I think Connie and Loretta Lynn are the best singers around.Really enjoying your Connie Videos. Thanks for sharing them!!

  • What a beautiful voice, no one sounds like her ! And a beautiful person !

  • love the piano and the song of course ))

  • Awsome!!!

  • ty for posting good music love it

  • Well... Thanks Jack! But I'm not a brother. I'm a sister.... Glad u r enjoying Justin's version of Dicky' song. I'll pass it on.

  • Dern, she is good, very good, and still a great voice.

  • Isn't she terrific! This is my favorite Connie Smith song--the way she sings the first syllable of each line is incredible--no one else can do it. But I prefer the steel guitar version of the song.

  • Taylor Swift; are you out there? I sure hope so. You need to talk to Connie Smith. But then on second thought; forget it Taylor; you could practice till the day you pass away; and you could never develop vocals like Connie!! Connie knows Country Music; and Connie can sing!!

  • Perfect pitch is a great thing!

95 % of all singers out there today sing off key.

    Thanks for sharing this video!!

  • Absolutely Incredible Pure Vocals!! WOW!! WOW!! From An Absolutely Gorgeous Lady!! Thanks For Post.

  • She is like a diamond! So precious, and with such a clear voice!

  • I want to go back to 1965 and marry her.

  • Ditto!

  • @SatansMama666 she came back and married Marty Stewart.

  • the only reason I watch Marty Stuart Show

  • I love her delivery too. Just straightforward, strong, and pretty singing.

  • How well I remember seeing Connie Smith in person at WTAP TV in Parkersburg, WV just as her career was getting started. What a beautiful woman and a top-notch country singer. She is truly a queen of the Grand Ol' Opry.

  • Connie is such a wonderful singer and she is very beautiful even today she still is a very attractive woman.

  • clear - was the word i was thinking of... to describe her singing..... it's beautiful & clear!!

  • Conniw is just like a crystal clear brooke...so clear and pure!

  • I grew up through the 60s enjoying Connie and many others that sang (from the heart) REAL country music. And I admit that I fell in love with her not long after she began her career. She is simply the best; she has no peers. What passes for "country" music today is what I refer to as the bastard child of pop and rock. It is neither country nor music. Connie is the real thing!

  • you couldn't have articulated it better. I love Connie too

  • 3 months before I made my entrance to the world. Wow I LOVE the vintage footage of Connie and all the other great country artists of this era, thats when country was really country, listen to that piano!!

  • there was a little girl who had a little curl.....

right in the middle of her forehead...

    I've never heard this song...it's lovely...as is Connie's singing...

  • That's one hairdo I could have done without. She's really cute though, and her singing is great, as always.

  • this is classic Connie, thank u 4 posting

  • 2 days before I was born. Funny thing is, I grew up to her music and other great country singers of that time.

  • Could just listen to this one over and over. This has always been my favorite of all her songs, and she sings it great here. Lord, that lady can sing!!

  • Love to hear Connie. Great voice. Thanks.

  • The piano part is wonderful. That picker is Jerry Whitehurst, who used to play keyboards on Grand Ole Opry staff band.

  • I thought that was Floyd Cramer. I admit I'm no expert... but he SOUNDS like Floyd with that "slip note" styling.

  • By that I mean I like the Steel kick better. You just can't replace the steel guitar with a any other instrument. There should be a law against it.

  • I agree! Pedal steel just makes country music even better.

  • @kimeytonk 100% Agreed

  • @kimeytonk PREACH ON BROTHER! good steel intro on Justin Trevino's cover version on "The Scene of The Crying"

  • @kimeytonk I agree completely! To be fair though, Weldon Myrick played this intro on pedal steel. Jerry Byrd, who played non-pedal steel, was playing on this taping. He probably thought it best to let the piano man (Jerry Whitehurst, I think) take the intro here.

  • Wow... sounds really different with out the steel kick. I like it better but as usual Connie is flawless.

  • Magical stuff. many thanks for posting
