Just because their child is financially successful doesn't mean they'll change their lives just like that. But I would at least move her out of the projects and into a decent home.

Evelyn is full of it. First off, there's no way in hell her mom is an accountant living in the projects. NYC Housing is for LOW income people/families so there's no way housing would allow her to stay there making that kind of money. Second, nobody wants to stay in the projects. I feel her on not wanting to leave the Bronx but the projects? C'mon man. Even if it was a cute little house across the street from the projects that still would be way better.

That's the same situation here, Evelyns mother grew up in the pjs and is now an older woman still up in there, that's all SHE knows. The projects (dispite the bad rep) is HOME to many people. Especially seniors. Her mother is not a materialistic woman. Clothes on her back, a roof over her head is all she needs.

I honestly believe this might be true. I know plenty of older plenty in poor neighborhoods but refuse to leave because they feel comfortable where they are. When you've lived somewhere your whole life you grow to love it. It not anything out of the norm.

@shasanni , part of what you sad is so true. I have 2 friends that still live there now, one is now in TN (my home state), and she absolutely refuses to move back to NYC. She said everyone lives on top of each other, you can barely find a place to live, too crowded and what not. I had a job offer there, and quickly found out that $47000 a year is considered "measely as hell."

how expensive is atlanta? ur closer to it than me. i keep hearing about how affordable it is, but too many people r moving there. i feel like over time it will be expensive, if it hasn't already.....

@shasanni , It is getting more expensive to live in Atlanta. When i lived in memphis TN, we would make weekend runs to atlanta (about 5-6 hr drive) and there were times that it was just conjested or something. The more nicer quieter areas are getting more expensive to live in. I'm in MD right now, thinking about PA. It is nicer than NY in my opinion. Nashville is really growing, very affordable yet still nice, not much crime at all. You should visit there soon.
