  • I would go on the inter calm and tell them to get the f*ck out of my Way!

  • @jharms2000 People in NYC probally do not know how to drive in that city and happy 2012!!!!!

  • I'm curious to, what's up with the phone? Old school radio or something?

  • @AcyclicEarth Anyone correct me if Im wrong, but I've learned they do use modern mobile radios however they use a telephone style handset instead of a regular microphone so the officer can hear the dispatcher better.

  • @AcyclicEarth Also found that it's a Motorola HLN1220(B) handset for use with that Motorola Spectra radio mounted just left of the dash lamp.

  • wha'ts with the phone?

  • I love how the fire truck is getting passed! Do people know how to drive in NYC?

  • Who is "in control of" the siren? Is the driver doing it also ?

  • @Medionxtr Usually it it the officer running the sirens and E-Alarm. The driver operates the airhorn from a pull wire next to the door.

  • this seems like a long response time

  • I hate it when a fire truck gets stuck in traffic.

  • at 0:30, did anyone else notice the dumbass that had his left blinker on and went right?

  • @iluvicp89 I saw him :D

  • wtf are they going? Must be one hell of a fire if they are bringing trucks from that far away

  • I can't believe all these morons "passing" the firetruck??? What ever happened to "pull to the right and STOP"?

  • @howwon when we respond on the highway and traffic flows cars are passing by as well. Doesn't matter, rather would be even more dangerous when cars that go 80 to 100 mph all have to slow down to 65 or 70. We let them pass, and as soon as we get into the traffic jam (e.g. caused by MVA) we switch the martin horn on and pass them between two lanes

  • I think it may be easier to just switch the siren knob to Wail than to just keep pressing the manual button (or foot switch)

  • No Yelp, Federal Q ?? scary

  • No Yelp, Federal Q ?? scarey

  • Don't just tap it, lean on it a bit. lol

  • This is quite possibly the slowest response I have ever witnessed.

  • 911 Dispatch: Engine 53, pls return to base, your service is no longer required, building has been reduced to rubble.

Driver: 10-4, we will continue our journey to help clear the jam...

  • damn this truck is heavy

  • The house wouldve been burned to the

    ground

  • why do they have a phone inside the truck?

  • @TheFirefighter2000 to call the base or the captain.or dispatch

  • God, People are so ignorant when it comes to emergency vehicles. What if someone dies when they are on the way to the place they should be? people need to have more respect for other people and emergency vehicles

  • thats new york all the drivers there are horible

  • why does fdny not run continuous sirens?

  • Comment removed

  • @bobcats330 its up to the officer, the federal pa300, and on the new rigs, the federal eq2b- both offer siren cycle options, but usually the officer will use manual when he needs it

  • They should make it ok for the fire trucks to push the car off of the road.

  • turn the siren on, leave it on.

  • well wherever people are in the world, if an emergency vehicle needs to pass, they should clear the way...

  • Happens in the uk ,especialy on the motorway, a friend of mine who was a Sub officer (yeah proper rank, now retired), informed me that even under blue lights a fire engine is not permitted in the outside lane ,(classed and an HGV) and if they needed ot pass vehickes they should return to the inside or middle lane and not stay in the outside (fast) lane of any motorway,. hence why, vehicles overtake fire engines regularly on the motorway.

  • @mortgagewizard40 they can be in whatever lane they want. its easier to stay in the outside lane so the idiot tourists know where to pull over instead of having em go dif ways when ur in the middle

  • @hockypimp you're trained to use the middle lane

  • @curlman247 in the city, yes. any where else really no

  • wtf, cars are passing a Fire Truck? Where are the cops at?

  • fuck man long ass ride..was it a med aid call or a fire?

  • i believe they went to queens nice vid

  • they need to learn how to i am a firefighter its nice when they pull over

  • teh engine is very loud

  • what was that emergency vehicle that passed them on the highway on the left?

  • @whitesox1423 Mask Service Unit

  • This is why the city needs to stop closing house after house. Look at how long this drive was! It was so out of their way.

  • hey this is a quick question to all NY firemen....are you guys allowed to force a car out of your way if he/she does not give way? (u know like give that car a nice hit with your truck)

If yes would you show a video of that :D thanks...you guys have my full support FDNY all the way

  • Didnt they have any units closer?

  • 4:00 LOL! car passing like the Firetruck is driving slow XD

  • when you hear the sirens people it means pull over to the right...

but i love being a firefighter it's soo rewarding

  • 0:54 crossing the road! people are stupid! thumbs up if you think that was stupid.

  • fire trucks should come with gps systems

  • I'd never live in NY

  • what a pussy siren

  • @christianwilday They are Using Manual For Some reason! ??????????????

  • @christianwilday this coming from a pussy

  • Awsome vid ! Thx !

  • New law here ( Washington state) = major fine for not pulling over and/or criminal charge for interfering with emergency responders. Add dashcam to record license tags....

  • haha the radio with a phone type mic thats awesome! ....... people r lame not to move it is the law

  • What?Did they run out of fire trucks in the south Bronx.Damn that was a long response.

  • that is smart that they got you guys a fire lane like that... i live in chicago area and fire trucks have to push the traffic through the light to keep going... (not really push but get them move somehow).. seemed like that other truck was flying compared to you guys...

  • that is smart that they got you guys a fire lane like that... i live in chicago area and fire trucks have to push the traffic through the light to keep going... (not really push but get them move somehow)

  • Ignorant New Yorkers. Here in Vancouver, we actually pull over for the emergency vehicles.

  • i would like to work for FDNY but i would hate to drive anywhere NYC and PITT have some crazy road systems

  • I have driven engines and ladder trucks back into NYC after service at Seagrave. Their trucks are governed at 55

  • They drive sooooo slooooow.... That's incredible!!! Sorry guys, but in Germany we put the pedal to the matel ;) 70mph are normal on an emergency it it goes over the autobahn or an highway...!

Oh man.

  • As an EMT I realize we are only allowed to go 10mph over the speed limit unless on a hazmat call BUT it's sad the driver is letting the taxi pass him on the freeway! I wouldn't let it happen (if I could speed up and repass him safetly that is)

  • Was this grocery store run?

  • y cant they drive faster?

  • @RedBird1997 Its a matter of the weight on the vehicle, and the outcome if someone drove in front of them.

  • sad thing is you cant ride along no more

  • sounded like he was playin with the siren, hes gotta really get into that horn or the guys are gonna start callin him little toot toot

  • Looks like they were relocating to 43 engine

  • Verry SILLY driver

  • did they ever get to where they were going?

  • @mail4ilo McDonalds

  • people don't know how to pull over to a emergency vehicle

  • @vsiNgh420 they dont have to pull over on a highway, it is not mandatory

  • @ks10308 .. they weren't on the highway the entire time.. its illegal to not pullover in NJ & NY

  • @vsiNgh420 many people panic when they see an emergency vehicle behind them

  • @vsiNgh420 noo...they kno how to its just that they r all ignorant fucks to the FDNY

  • @vsiNgh420 Thats NYC drivers for ya gotta love them.

  • What the hell? There was nothing closer? And again I go on my knees and thank God I don't live in New York, way too many people and way the fuck too much concrete.

  • WHY DON'T THEY HAVE A FIRE LANE ON ALL ROADS??? HE GOT THERE WAYY FASTER!

  • THUMBS UP IF YOU READ LINE FIRE INSTEAD OF FIRE LANE

  • sounds like they dont have the mode button pressed on the trans. you need 1 more gear homie!!

  • Roads in NYC need to be repainted!

  • haha 5:00 disappearing cars

  • @GrootGuy lol

  • WHY THE HELL ARNT PEOPLE GETTING THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY? MOTHERFUCKERS PISS ME OFF

  • Where I live at, in Philly, firefighters drive at a much hastier pace than this, especially if it's midnight into the early morning hours if they use the highways to respond.

  • @omfgCantGetaUsername saying that you have never been to the city i live in it people cut the firetrucks off bikers ride infront of them if they go anyfaster they will probably kill them i admit at some parts they could use there foot a little more :)

  • @TomTheGrom226 Actually, I've been to NYC more than enough, when my sister attended school there I visited her a lot. So, I'm safe to say I know how aggressive the flow of traffic in the city can be. For me, adapting wasn't a problem since I'm from a major city myself we're just smaller. Fire fighters don't always speed here either, just during the night/mid-morning hours when traffic is usually calm on most major streets. I'm not all confused about how they drove like these hick town folks. LOL

  • @omfgCantGetaUsername haha ok uhhmmm no comment. :)

  • @TomTheGrom226 Haha. Lol. It's okay I didn't mean to leave ya speechless there. Speaking of fire trucks, I spotted an Engine this morning riding pass me as I stood at the bus stop on my way home. They responded to a local residence near by with with a few Q's and manual wails at about 25mph no smoke/no fire. If I had a camera to upload it, viewers would've been upset like "GO FASTER!"

  • Wow... Thats quite a long way to the scene.....

  • what is that phone he keeps talking on for?

  • @42pierce dispatch i'm guessing.

  • @winnryautomail sweet!

  • Cars were freaking passing you. Why weren't you going fast??

  • @photofitrehelper Water on board stops them from speeding

  • @AnTexSketch Its shouldn't. Any other would speed past you.

  • @photofitrehelper dude it`s a big fuckin truck it can`t go fast

  • @TheNinja1999 DUDE, yeah it can. Have you seen other videos on here? Look how fast they go!

  • @photofitrehelper

How fast do you think they can go?

Fully loaded, water on board, id hazard a guess at 10-15tons, 55mph would be the fastest "safe" speed the driver would go in built up areas........trucks here in the UK are limited to 55mph (Trucks over 7.5tons, I dont know about Emergency Trucks though)

  • @ImRatherTall They do not have water on board. Even if the did it would not weigh over 30,000 pounds dumbass.

  • @photofitrehelper

I dont understand pounds, kilos please?

Im sure there are fire trucks that do! Either way, fire trucks cant top more than 65mph!

  • @ImRatherTall Incase you did not know 1 ton is equal to 2,000 pounds. So 15 tons equals 30,000 and 18 wheeler does not even weigh that much! Trust me London boy firetrucks can go much faster than 65mph. Go back to school.

  • @photofitrehelper

I dont see why you have a problem with me really???

No i didnt know, hence why i ask!

But 18 wheelers can weigh upto and around 45tons!

They may go faster but road safety and limiters restrict it to around 55mph

  • @photofitrehelper It's not unusual for a standard fire engine to weigh 40,000-45,000 pounds (20 tons+). I have a tower ladder (aerial) at work that weighs 63,000 pounds (31 tons). Don't think a tractor trailer can weigh that much?

  • @TravelinMan24 tractor trailers can weigh up to 80,000 lbs in most states

  • Comment removed

  • @photofitrehelper I'm sure they were going as fast as was deemed safe to. I've done almost 80mph on the freeway in an engine before and still had vehicles pass me and that is in Michigan. NY is full of stupid drivers, hence the bumping of the siren. They do that to help avoid "siren hypnotizing."

  • is that a spectra or syntor x9000

  • Here in Europe it's rigidly forbidden to pass an emergency vehicle. Is it allowed in the USA or are those drivers just idiots? (I mean... you can find idiots everywhere)

  • @EnjoyFirefighting aha oke danke.

    Naja das wäre schon nervig.

    MFG

  • why is the capt. on the phone so much

  • wow the sirens dont mean drive faster and merge into the fire lane fricken idiots lol

  • @62FDNY62 your talking shit they look liek they are driving faster then they are. respect the poeple who can save your ass when you need them

  • @bugguy905 how am i talking shit i was talking about civilian drivers i give 100% of my respect to emergency workers especially firefighters.

  • Why is there so much paper in FDNY Trucks. It looks like a damn office cubical.

  • @deadeye22167 ok first off they have a manpower report that shows who is on the engine and there assingment and seat location. other papers can be for information liek what hydrents are oos or building info ..... it is a mad house but they have there way of doing it and I respect them and all firefighters

  • And people wonder why emergency vehicles take so long to respond.

  • @dbboing Better than speeding and getting into an accident than not making it at all. ;)

  • @jcsii Sorry! That wasn't what I was implying at all. I was talking about all of the drivers cutting in front of the firetruck and what not. I understand how congested bigger cities are, but people could be more considerate.

  • @dbboing I drive one in a really small town, and about 50% of the time I leave the station with lights and sirens, someone always pulls out or just don't hear me coming. You would be surprised at these people.

  • @jcsii True. Guess I keep imagining a "perfect" world.

  • The FDNY engines are governed at 55 mph , the cars are going faster because they really don't give a shit if a fire truck is behind them !! I've been behind assholes who are on their cell phone and have given me the Finger when we try to pass them !!

  • That truck must have a governor on it because it was going pretty damn slow on the freeway.

  • Don't they have a law in NY that says you have to get over to the right lane or on the shoulder of the road when a Fire Truck or Policeman has their siren on? And, what's up with the stupid people crossing the street in front of the truck! Cool video to see what's like to ride in a Fire Truck on call, but how frustrating it must be to deal with stupid people that won't get out of the way!!

  • @paloma1214 thats ny for you

  • like Gobber55555 said they dont have q;s.they use the manual wail.idk why they just dont leave it on wail

  • fake q -.-

  • question why dont they just get a Q?

  • @Dthorn912 FDNY trucks dont have a Q cuz it echo from building to building so they use their horn

  • @Dthorn912 Whats a Q

  • @Sabrehockeylw29 look up Q siren and you'll see

  • How did you get a ride along with FDNY?

  • @nick1005 They don't do it very much anymore. You either have to know somebody or have to be making a documentary or something to get one. At least that's what I've been able to find.

  • thats sad when the ambulance makes it to the scene before the fire truck, pick up the speed lol!!

  • how do people make these videos when the fdny has a page on their website dedicated to the fact that they DO NOT allow ride alongs?

  • @Kingy12321 family/friends

  • @Kingy12321 Are you seriously asking this question? Look how steady the camera is. It is not being held in anyone's hand. This means it is mounted. In a fire truck. Who do you think put it there?

  • why cant u just leave the dam siren on instead of playing with it.

  • @JoeLight46 because if you leave it on it will die down. and the multiple quick beeps are more annoying in the sense to get your attention

  • @JoeLight46 Changing the siren is safer to alert drivers. You would be amazed at the people that just don't see/hear you coming. Think about all the people that listen to loud music or have ipod's in their ears these days. Short answer-Safer.

  • @JoeLight46 Because they are required by training to use level 4 siren at cross-sections. The regular siren alone isn't loud enough. It's reason enough to use every siren by regulation, to make sure people KNOW you're coming.

  • @JoeLight46

are you really complaining about how the FDNY does things?

  • @JoeLight46 because if they just keep it on constant it will be a constant sound flow and people won't know where it's coming from. but if they change the sounds then people will hear the difference and know its around.

  • @JoeLight46 So it can be heard better.

  • @JoeLight46 i know FDNY banned the Q because of "noise pollution" problems but that is just damn annoying in this video.

  • @JoeLight46 Because that is a Electric Q worked with a footpedal

  • @epiphonelp100g Thats is not a Electric Q its a pa 300

  • @JoeLight46 Because its all computer controlled. all new systems are. the old ones used to be off of a timing gear faster you went the higher the siren but new systems have regular code 3 sirens and the new "ghost busters" to move traffic

  • @JoeLight46 Its a setting, and clearly it still moved people so shut up.

  • @JoeLight46 because the siren will bounce off the buildings and cause hearing loss to civilians on the street if they leave it on too long, so they have to use the manual mode on the siren.

  • @JoeLight46 Hey, shitface, try having these cars move with a single-tone siren, it ain't goin' to happen.

  • This is a long response. Was this an "special call for a unit"

  • 3:14 haha we beat you

  • love the telephone in the engine

  • @casey4christ That's a Motorola handset for the radio, not a telephone.

  • no Q siren?

  • duh, whats up with all these 'youre so slow'' comments? just think about it, its probably a 40 ton (metric)+, it just takes time to accelerate and brake, you have to be carefull

  • Why do they constantly "bump" the electronic siren in NY rather than just turning it on and leaving it on??

  • @kevinsilverado because its a foot pedal...yes they can put it on wail or yelp but changing the sounds manual is more effective and funner as an officer
