An excellent song. Its' a real pity the most of the people from the new generation are unable to appreciate these gems of Chinese oldies. A lot has changed since 1960s - the life style, the form and the way of love - from very pure, simple to very complicated. Some people find it hard to appreciate these oldies without experiencing the life of the era to which the songs belong. They just miss the link.
Maybe Chris has touched an interesting subject, called "generation gap" which mainly results from different cultures and education backgrounds. Anyway, it is a pity you can not enjoy the beauty of the beautiful songs of previous generations. Just try, and you will know the answer yourself.
another song that stir the memory of youthful years. how can one forget this lovely but sad song.one has to look ahead and glance back every once in a while .
i never know aout this history, a real tradagy of todays China in the mainland politics pressure where people fighting with their Daddy and mamy obeyding Parties will and advoce....
The background of this song was the lyric writer thought about his son. The writer escaped China in 1949 while leaving his son (and may be his whole family) in China. Now the writer has passed away, while his son is a famous conductor in Shanghai. Hope this background information help the listeners understand this song more.
I believe it's not so much of westernization, it may have something to do with the choice of expression that this generation seems to prefer.the more realistic and direct approach for the lack of patience.
Good point. The old China was poor, backward and weak. Thus a lots of sad and sentimental stories and this especially was reflected in the songs which were sad and sentimental though nice to hear but at the same time will ruin the will power and progressiveness of a country
I listened to this when I was a little kid in HK. I didn't care much about this at the time, but is good to hear it once in a while. I thought the music would be gone forever, I am glad somebody is sharing this.
It brings the oldman as me a lot of memories. Both happy and sad. Thank you very much for the uploading. More Miss NG's songs will be much appreciated.
I use to hear this song as a kid. In Singapore it was broadcasted often over the then popular Rediffusion...before even black n white tv was available. Wow! its been a long time. One of the best Chinese singers! Thanks for the upload!!!

真的無feel(需聽得出他們唱得很好).
