Digital Rights Management. Which is a general concept for preventing piracy.

The problem with ALL these protections is that the paying customer always has to hassle to make the program/game work. An example in this case (Settlers 7): If you lose internet connection your game will shutdown immediately. In other words, you need an internet connection to play OFFLINE games versus the computer(!!!). So if their login-server is offline, you can't play - which happens too often.

Unfortunately for the whole DRM thing, thats gonna be the way PC games are heading across the board, EA is using similar with Command and Conquer 4, won't be long and all PC Games will be online only and download only the legitimate customers get screwed due to corporate greed and piracy.

Settlers 7 is still has that Settlers type feel, something that 5 and 6 lost. IMO 2-3 were the best and 4 coming in close behind. Least from what i got from playing the demo all yesterday when the servers were working fine

First settlers I wont buy. This DRM is beyond a joke. Cant play it at all if your internet connection is down. You loose everything. The whole DRM thing seems to be generating more piracy and stopping none. Why do I buy games like this and find that I have a worse experience than the bloke next door who got a pirate copy free. This is the sort of thing that lead to my Xbox360 staying in the cupboard since I bought the damn thing. I wont live with terrible DRM like this for my PC games either.

This game has the worst DRM ever included in a game so far. You cant save at all if your internet goes down. If their servers are down, or if you have a blip in your internet. You loose everything. You cant even start with internet connected then play safely as the game will close down if your internet shut down and you loose your progress. The decision to build DRM this bad into a game blows my mind. First settlers game I wont get. Been playing these since I was a youngster

The reporter asked if this was a bad idea because people would experience the problems your stating there.

But the Ubisoft guy didnt see any problems with it, and they have not received a single complaint... Which i think is pure lies and bullshit.

Bit sad, i want this game and i like Ubisoft games, but if all it takes is their server down or a short connection problem to shut you down there are now way ill buy this!! :o

The 1st one was not in my time so when i tried it, it was too old (graphics, gameplay, stuff) and i didn't really like the 2nd.

The 3rd was good but i think the 4th was better. (3 only had better storyline)

5 was bullshit. Age of Empires wannabe and should never have been made.

6 was pretty awesome to me. I really liked the seasons/climates and the diversity of nature.

I also enjoyed all of the NPC cities you could trade with and i hope they keep that :)

I got the PC version of AC instead. People have reported that the PS3 version of Assassin's Creed is messing up their system one way or another. It may just be a coincidence, but I don't want to take a chance.

I was just searching "problems with PS3 Slim" before making my purchase of a PS3 Slim, and found a few problems with the PS3 in general that some people were having, and they mentioned playing AC before the problems came up. One with shadows acting very oddly, and the other with their AC freezing when playing AC. I think it had something to do with the graphics card. Again, I say, it may have just been coincidence. Most likely, it was.

well, i have the original ps3. i don't like the slim. it looks ugly. :p lol. and to me, it seems more like it's been downgraded, not upgraded. like, they got rid of the touch-buttons, i don't think they even have bluetooth anymore either... and other crap.. cus when i play AC on my ps3, it's perfectly fine. i've had it since it first came out ! :p

I can agree that it's not as pretty as the original PS3(Seriously, who doesn't like the shiny?), but I like the physical buttons more, unless the touch buttons light up on the original. It still has Blutooth, and it also has added BRAVIA Sync(now I can use my Sony remote to control the XMB :D). They've completely stopped production on the original PS3, though. The first few models did have more media input slots(like SD card slots), but I like the slim because it's quieter.

GLOSSSY! looks more modern, if you ask me. i like touch buttons better (but that's just me) because it seems more hi-tech. :p well, we have, like, a harmony remote, so yeah... i've never really noticed if it's really that loud because my surround-sound is always louder. :p so did you have an original ps3 before the slim? i just wouldn't want to spend more money on something i already have, you know? I only got the PS3 slim. I was waiting for it to come out, actually, because I know that Sony always makes slim versions of their products. But, a few of my friends have a PS3 original. They're both pretty much the same in doing things. The PS3 slim is about 1 second slower on load times, though. Nothing major, really.
