I think VSU band as a whole did better this year than usual but trumpets and trombones...smh..Snares were Extremely dirty..horrible...

Props to two of my favorite bands. HOWEVER - I must say that I am a little disappointed in the scream-blast battles. Leave that bullsh*t to the SWAC. I love both bands because they are typically two of the cleanest HBCU bands that focus on technique.  Just like choirs - the loudest band ain't the best band.

This is Virginia State not A&T but I feel you on bands being more focused on being louder. I also agree with you when you said notes being in tune or out of tune don't sound different whether you're there in person. I think they just pushed the notes and made them sharp. I didn't think it all sounded bad. That's all I was trying to say. Oh yea, I went to your profile, Keep that up

I didn't think it sounded horrible, overblown yes. I think they were just hype you know what I'm saying. The trumpets were a little yea... but I'm thinking if someone was there it probably would have sounded different.

I'm not one these people who doesn't know what a band should sound like. I know A&T band and they are more concerned with being louder than sounding good. There's little worse in music than being loud and wrong.Notes dont sound different in person either they are in tune or out of tune.

True Story from a Spartan Alum...Both bands sound like some SWAC shit! A lot of fire but no control. I see others have already mentioned the trumpets. And on that note, the tuba tends to be in tune. Your job is to be loud. Good Job Both sides. What I would rather see is these two band meeting later in the season. The sound of these two bands at Honda speaks more for their worth, respectively, But this was after all both of their first meeting of any band this season.

VSU never had a killer trumpet section...The dizzies are WEAK as hell this year compared to previous years...I'm dyin listening to VSU trombones though LMAO at the solo! Tubas on the other hand was the best thing about this battle
