I from Russia. I was in Dublin in august 2010. The weather was cool and rainy. Thunderstorm in Dublin - very big surprise for me, especially in winter time. In Central Russia very many thunderstorms, but only in summer time. However in the middle november 2010 in my sity also was two night thunderstorms. The weather was very warm (15 °С). But in the end of november was very strong cooling ( minus 28 °С).
I remember waking about 3am on 27th Nov, hearing the thunder, then looking out my back window in the direction of Howth, then getting a bloody fright when I saw this. By about 4am the sleet and snow were rattling off the window. So unexpected in Ireland at that time of year. I couldn't sleep so just sat up reading Provided You Dont Kiss Me (Cloughie biography) until I fell asleep. Woke at 8am to more thunder and the place was covered in snow.
i remember when me and my sister were just kids, were outside at night climbing trees just to watch the skies filled with lightning. but the storm was far away over mountains that we couldn't hear a thing, just enjoy a lightshow.
I Think it's Amazing that Night How i Slept through that Storm it was like a Light Bulb going on and off also it kinda gives me the Creep's :L :) :( lol
really nice video. It's pretty rare you see lightning hit the ground in Ireland. I've seen lots of lightning storms on the continent with fork lightning and i once saw lightning hit a tree 5 metres from me (scared the living daylights out of me) but you don't get the same sound of the thunder that you get in an Ireland. It's pretty damn loud in Ireland :D

That was an impressive lightning storm. A storm of that intensity is not terribly rare where I live (in the states in South Florida). We also have some pretty scary light shows thanks to Mother Nature.
it's not easy to capture those kind of shots so well done. Have you been able to get any shots of the snowstorm lightening. It's pretty frickin weird and would make a good shot too.

That was an impressive lightning storm. A storm of that intensity is not terribly rare where I live (in the states in South Florida). We also have some pretty scary light shows thanks to Mother Nature.

The last time we had fork lightning in Dublin i think was around 2003 but it was in the summer and it wasnt as amazing as this footage..I think this is more of an electrical storm but i dont really understand how only sometimes you hear the thunder with it?

mate that is excellent All Friday night and on into Saturday morning, stopped at about 10am on Saturday morning. I'm in Tallaght and could see it over the Dublin mountains epic sight and I could hear the thunder with most flashes. If you want to make money patent it NOW so if RTE or any production company eget hold of it you will get royalties
