  • I love how you hear ALL the layers of sound. He is magnificent!

  • I studied the Chopin Ballade no. 1 with Moravec in Dublin in 1989 and the details of these classes remain with me still.Thankyou Ivan Moravec!

  • His Chopin Ballade 4 recorded in 1960's for 'The conoisseur Society' label is without doubt the finest ever on disc. He is such a great artist.

  • I totally agree. He is the Chopin Interpretative Champion of all time.

  • Moravec is one of a kind...a consumate interpreter of Chopin. His recordings of Chopin's Nocturnes are truely the finest. A materful work of art. Moravec rocks!!!

  • So beautiful.................

    5*****

  • Just saw him on Friday in Kansas City. I loved his interpretation of the Chopin ballades.

  • His recordings of the Nocturnes are my favorites.

  • the documentarian is crap and doesn't do the pianist any justice

  • I love Moravec's playing. So many great ones are gone now...Horowitz, Arrau, Rubinstein, Richter, Bolet, Michelangeli...we are so fortunate Moravec is still with us. He is very much of the stature of the piano masters I just mentioned, in my opinion. He is a wonderful Chopin pianist, and if you've never heard his recording of the Schumann Concerto, big, borrow or steal one! Or catch it on YouTube, if it's here

  • moravec is one of the lesser-known chopin players in as much as being one of the supreme players of the repertoire. his talent ranks among the top

  • He certainly IS superior to showbaby LangLang(can't say showMAN really, can I).

Only after I really took the time to listen to his Chopin Ballades I came to the conclusion that he is world's No. 1, second to none, at least for Chopin's works. Take it or leave it.

  • His interpretation of C. Franck's "Prelude, Choral, and Fugue" is the best ever!

  • I am a huge fan. you can hear every note with clarity. he does it all, and in the end its all about the music!

  • Excellent. Thank you for the post. Moravec's recordings are very special to me. His tone is magic.

  • Thank you for your comment

  • I just made an incredible discovery...

    truly talented and honest pianist.

I wish we could hear him speak some more about his art...

Anybody has a specific recording to suggest?

    Thank you.

  • His recording of Chopin's Nocturnes is among the best there are, ranking as high as Rubinstein's, Arrau's, Pollini's and Pires'. Truly warm and musical. A must have.

  • Moravec is an outstanding artist who plays the piano.

Tim Martyn is too, and he makes recorgings...

  • I have his CD "The Four Scherzi and other works form Dorian". I like Zimerman - you know, I'm a Pole. The Ballade No.1 is a theme to Konrad Walenrod by polish writer Adam Mickiewicz. I heared him playing at NAC in Ottawa, his ineed very good.

  • Just beautiful! I wish the video was longer. I could watch this for hours......

  • Un des plus grands pianistes méconnus! Un véritable artiste!

  • I am very thankful for you posting this; Moravec is one of the worlds best living pianists now, and he needs more recognition. I am learning the Chopin Sonata #2, and I will be at the IMA: Pilsen, playing in master classes and taking some lessons with Mr. Moravec. Again, THANK YOU. =)
