Dudeee. So wierd. I was there!!! I go every year to SPAC, and the concert in 2010 at the TUC (Times Union Center) I love Dave!!!
Oh and if you like Dave, try listening to O.A.R.! They're very similar to DMB, and they actually warmed up for Dave either '07 or '08. I forget when, but their Rain Or Shine live disk is amazing. Try it if you like Dave. I love them. And even more, Dave.
That was the best concert I probably ever saw. The setlist was unbeatable, the crowd was great, and even with the rain it was fun as hell. I still couldn't believe he played Halloween at the end frickin incredible
Did anybody notice how Dave started the "Going away" scream two measures early... I don't think that was planned, as Tim Reynolds expression at 2:57 was one of shock when Dave started that early. Haha. Dave's got some lungs on him... Doing that scream at the normal 4 measure length is difficult, at 6 it's just insane. Awesome performance. :D
@Ipso80 Yeah, Dave confused the hell out of Tim, who even stopped for a bit, just in case, and I believe Carter did the fill, but, the beast he is, continued playing as if nothing happened :)
i live in toga, about 15 min walking distance and been to every show since i was in 5th grade in 2000 first halloween ever played here cant wait to see what they pull out this year
been to 5 and only heard it once, but man let me tell you it was amazing! They did So much to say into ASTB fake Too much and then halloween, place went nuts, almost as much as when Dave sang Stairway during the last verse of Watchtower in STL
yeah i know spoiled, looking forward to seeing them this summer, i bet the groogrux songs are going to start coming into their natural selves this year.
Was there, place was absolute pandemonium. One of the best moments of my life. Not too much beats dmb spac n2 with some great friends and an incredible performance by an incredible band.
His last album wasn't mournful... it was 99% done by the time leroi moore died. The title was just a tribute and one or two songs were added. Frankly, I haven't really liked an album since Busted. Everyday was alright... but I think DMB is getting to the status of U2... they still kick ass live, but their new albums aren't impressive
i think besides that it is so rare, maybe not so rare last tour, but that they all put such emotion into it when they play it, especially dave, its so dark, always gives me chills hearing it, few songs today can say that
I dont wanna put you on the spot, but have you seen them live? If yes, have you heard a Halloween? Sooo much energy....Dave screaming...pissed off......perfect encore song. The studio version....in fact....amost of their studio music...just ignore it. Its good, but the live shows are like a three hour orgasm....Hows that sound?
Yes, I have seen them 11 times on 3 continents, only 2 US shows... they were in NYC for the winter tour 2005, and night 2 had a pretty awesome Halloween encore! (got a little vid of it here...)
But I have to admit that "You never know" would be on my wish list the Nr.1 :)
MSG dec 05 was my first show. Confetti shower, Robert Randolph, Linus n Lucy.....remember it well...bout a 2 hour drive for me. Three continents? Besides the obvious....South America? If not where? I,ve been to all N.A. shows. We drive and see two or three on a week vacation, couple it with a caverns tour or a hike and a rafting trip...and thats the whole week...better than a carribean vaca! Hopin to go the the Gorge this year.
Best moment of best show ive seen. I gotta watch it every week or so or i get withdrawal......People leaving at end of watchower. Priceless. Our vanbroke down n we, believe it or not, took a taxi to the show...needless to say we were screaming during jimi. Typical was great, Two step was phenomenal...carter solo great....and we got a free ride back to our van from some great fans we met......
the moment of realization that this was HALLOWEEN, before the crowd screamed in recognition.... that was the best moment of my entire summer right there =) this makes me sooo happy to see on here!!
same here = ). it was great cause so many people turned around and started walking off at the end of all along the watchtower too...and then the song ended...and everyone cheered for the end of the show...and then the drums started quietly....
Saw it last night live in KC, can not believe they played it, this year its only been played like 5 or 6 times and all but 1 time was on second day of 2 day shows, amazing!
This wasnt even in the planned encore....They were going to end with Watchtower but the fans down front chanting halloween made it happen....It was an amazing show and i cant wait til next year
I was there.... awesome surprise for the encore... i had to wait for years to finally experience this one live, was worth the wait. great video cut, thanks for posting!!
This wasn't even on the Set list that night... total improvisation... must say, the night before was somewhat of a let down, but night 2 was epic... hopefully Bethel Woods is this good (this year is woodstock's 40th anniversary... make it special DMB)
Every time they play this live it is kick ass! If you get the video from the Gorge from a few years back you can see another bad ass rendition of this. I have seen him 6 times hoping every time that he will play this I have yet to see it. I get 2 chances this year as ill see them both nights here in Indy!WOOT
IDK as you can see the video quality is not that great, due to the rain all night out on the lawn. My camera was pretty much a goner by the end of the show.
actually i really thought the footage was amazing. Well if you can make a dvd like last years do it becuase that was one of the best looking dvd's i've seen last year.
Rarely played, overpowering, Dave SCREAMING for like 5 minutes, (That why it hasent been in an encore for over 2 years), Just a guy pissed of at a chick and venting........whats not to like?
Nevermind... I am downloading MonkeyJams torrent... I read about greppson's recordings in the antsmarching forums... hopefully MonkeyJams has a good one aswell.
I remember heading out from the pavilion towards the end of watchtower then doing what we call in the military an "about face" and being like no way...NO WAY!!! Such an amazing night!!!!
hahahaha i saw loads of people do the same thing- tons of people turned around at the end of watchtower to head out and then the drum solo started and people started one by one going...no.....could it be.......??? NO......F*CKING WAY!!!
Best Encore Ever? Try to name a better one!
