Just because we haven't had an attack doesn't mean we are safer. America felt safer after the '93 attack, but then along comes 9/11. A large portion of our military is fighting overseas in a country that was not responsible for 9/11 and was not even an immediate threat. This has left our borders less protected, and therefore easier for a terrorist to penetrate. The fact that an act of terrorism has not occurred does not mean it can't, and while I hope another doesn't occur, I am being realistic.
Our borders need tightening. California alone has over 11 million illegal immigrants benefiting from our resources without contributing beyond working in the fields. As for immigration laws, I am for making it easier for immigrants to become legal. The reason many of them feel it is necessary to immigrate illegally is because the entrance process is too strenuous and expensive for most coming from the third world. We need the labor, but we need it to be done by legal, tax-paying US citizens.

Just because we haven't had an attack doesn't mean we are safer. America felt safer after the '93 attack, but then along comes 9/11. A large portion of our military is fighting overseas in a country that was not responsible for 9/11 and was not even an immediate threat. This has left our borders less protected, and therefore easier for a terrorist to penetrate. The fact that an act of terrorism has not occurred does not mean it can't, and while I hope another doesn't occur, I am being realistic.

Our borders need tightening. California alone has over 11 million illegal immigrants benefiting from our resources without contributing beyond working in the fields. As for immigration laws, I am for making it easier for immigrants to become legal. The reason many of them feel it is necessary to immigrate illegally is because the entrance process is too strenuous and expensive for most coming from the third world. We need the labor, but we need it to be done by legal, tax-paying US citizens.

Legalizing the invasion won't fix the problem. Taxes or not, costs of mass immigration dwarfs the puny benefit. K-12 alone costs ~$12,000/student/yr. How many typical 3rdWorld families with 4 kids will pay $50Gs/yr in tax? Toss in welfare, health care, race preference loans, overcrowding, etc & it costs over $100,000/yr/family. All so the Chamber of Commerce can pay a couple $ an hour less than they'd have to pay Americans. WE don't need the labor. They WANT it. And they make us pay the cost.

McCain has a knack for leadership, which he certainly demonstrated when he was a POW. It is my understanding that while he was being tortured, he would swear up a storm to raise the spirits of his fellows and infuriate his captors. It would be a fair assumption that they made him pay for every word, but he went on for the sake of his fellows.

Our current president is a prime example of such a person. He attended Yale, an Ivy League school, and maintained a low C average while attending.
