  • hey lui marco.. i lift weights and i like to hit the heavy bag.. i really dont want to loose any of the muscle i have gained.. i try to keep it slow and steady so i can get a good sweat ... am i doing okay? or should i stop so i wont loose muscle.

  • You'd burn off the energy your body stores as carbs, not muscle, in addition to fat at higher heart rates. If you eat too little, then your body will burn muscle as a defense against starvation.

  • marco i find 130-140 BPM way too easy.. according to my polar watch it i have to run at 7.0 km/h on the treadmill and after 25 mins i burned only about 150-180 calories and travelled only about 3km distance. When i run at 8.5 km/h which is also really easy my HR becomes 160? how can this be

    HELP?

  • a lui I was pedding just as fast as you on the bike and it say my heart beat was at 90hpm so is something wrong will the bike or do I need to peddle faster to get a 130hpm

  • i do bike as well, though my heart rate likes to sit at about 120... i have push to get it up to 130 and it tends to want to run on to 140-145, so i let off a bit and it tries to return to 120. Btw im not unfit or over weight. Anyone else find they have to push for 130-135?

  • Lui if you subtracted your "Age" from 220 you get your max heart rate. If you are 36 years old your max heart rate is 184. Now if your doing cardio from 130 - 140 you are at 70% - 77% of your max . not 60% - 70% ....

  • how do i find my max heart rate? there are many different ways and they all give me different numbers.

  • @HerbaNico to have it precisely you should do a Max Test or use the Formula of : 220 - your age = your Max

  • @luimarco 220 - your age is not the best method as a fit person has a much lower rate than an unfit person.

    The best and most accurate way is the Karvonen method.Although there are some who disagree with it also.It works well for me.

  • Hey Lui, i just bought 500g Creatine, 500g Dates and a Shaker. My plan is to take 3x 5g Creatine with 3 Dates before each the first 7 days. After that only 3g in the morning a day for arround 6-8 weeks. Is it okay that way?

    I got the Creatin-Powder (Big Brand), which juice should i mix it with?

  • @1aMattes i think a month is enouh...8 weeks are too much...500 g creatine will last for about a month..then you should do a 2-3 month break...:)

  • @NEONATOR1 You can take creatine continous, there is no problem. 500g in one month is way to much. As far as i know u eat a lot the first week and after that u have to reduce ur consume to round about 3g a day.

    Lui eats creatine on daily bases for months now i think.

    HIIT sucks, you will lose alot of strength and consequently muscle if you perform too much HIIT

  • Howcome all bodybuilders say that to build muscle they stick to high reps? i just watched a video of ronnie coleman talking about rep ranges and he said that he usually stays at around 15 -20 reps and the lowest he goes is 10...this makes no sense to me because i always thought that 6-8 built size?

  • when you do cardio, you burn a total of calories, that includes nutrients that you have in your system from your previous meals and calories from stored fat. you cannot really target the fat when it comes to cardio...

  • Also i disagree. HIIT cardio wont burn muscle. If you just look at sports you will see that. Look at sprinters they are always doing high intensity cardio and they have muscle. Boxers do lots of cardio and they are big. What about American football players? They do cardio and they have lots of muscle as well.

  • Your right when you go to your maximum heartbeat you burn sugar since you are anaerobic instead of being aerobic. But then your heart goes back to 130-140 don't you start burning fat again? When you put out more effort don't you burn more calories therefor lose more fat? Doesn't HIIT cardio cause metabolic changes in the body causing you to get in better shape? Isnt that what you want? Since the better shape you are in you burn more fat calories.
