  • Whatever it looked like before is no consequence BECAUSE you hair as shown in the video is very very attractive. Nice video

  • the best place to go would be a Indian store they sell henna in a brown package check zam zam market online

  • I feel your pain, except, the first disaster i had was with henna for my skin (tattoo), and i learned a valuable lesson. It doesn't matter if u are using henna on your skin or on your hair. I sift ALL of my henna through a pair of pantyhose (cheap ones) and i always find something left over =). This makes my henna paste smooth so I can comb it through my hair. I'm of mixed race, and my hair is down to my mid back. It's curly, wavy, and frizzy. Henna has helped a ton, and i have less breakage. =)

  • @SheWraith I've been putting henna in my more regular now. right now I have about 1in of new grown but I want to change my color, gonna get some red from hennaforhairdotcom. I'm almost out of the bag I bought a while back from essential balms I never had to sift it. I just added my oils and conditioner let sit for a couple hours or a day and then put it in and let sit. I want to start doing the henna tattoes as well. thanks for sharing your story.

  • @Nuru305 Good luck with your henna! I'm sure It'll look great!

  • sorry for the drama, sis. i use henna, but i got the henna from an indian store and use the same kind that they use for their hair. i used an indian herbal tea in it. i also used juice from a huge lemon in it, and 2 tablespoons of honey. i also used creamy conditioner. maybe it is the kind of henna u used. u can wash with conditioner. u should sift the henna before u use it though, sorry

  • OMG this tOOOOO Funny. you can not comb henna, your suppose to smooth the henna. I was told Jamila is the only Henna we should. Also, you HIGH QUALITY HENNA ONLY. Thanks for the tip

  • Silly woman

  • so funny u mess up but try black cat

  • lolz girl das awful. I just use dye in mine. dont mess w/ henna when it comes to hair. I am gonna do some tats w/ it though. I have been researching and practicing for months and I'm doin it tomorrow. hope I dont have a henna nightmare as well.

  • @Jessieboo1991 I love my henna now that I know how to use it. Send some pic's of the tats. I would love to see it. Been researching on doing them myself.

  • @Jessieboo1991 This lady most likely used the wrong type of henna. Its best to use natural/organic henna. she talked about a 2 step process.....there is no 2 step process. you apply to your hair then rise...there is not such thing as 2nd part coloring. She should have research henna for african hair.

  • @krysdots don't comment like I'm makine sht up, the product is real, the video was a warning and to share my funny experience. Yes, I was gun ho and didn't research properly but have since learned the process for my hair type and I have henned my hair many times since with no issue.

  • @Nuru305 ur very sensitive about this...there is no need to take it personally. I was just letting Jessieboo1991 know that henna is safe because its natural and not to be afraid of it.

  • @krysdots I think you should re-read you comment and yes, I am sensative because I get people like you who don't see the fun in the vidoe, instead people will call me all kinds of names, and tell me I'm stupid and I didn't follow the directions which I did. I get tired of people acting so silly over a video about henna, that's why I annotations all over the video. No body bothers to look at how old the video is. And I had already reinforced that henna was fine with my own comment.

  • Everytime I run across this video it cracks me up. When you hold up the box and say you should've known not to buy it because of the lady on the box...straight comedy. I'm sorry you went through this, truly. But thanks for making this video.

  • @jazziman1 glad you like it. It was totally meant to give people a laugh.

  • LMAO I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience. I'm so glad I came across your video.

  • You had me rollen!!

  • @MorganRose14 :-) I know that now.

  • i used that brand and had the same bad experience

  • laughing out loud! like for real!

  • lmao @ stuck in a tree

  • LMBO! You are hilarious! OMG> I am a licensed hair stylist researching henna when I ran across your video. Thanks for the comedy. Whew!

  • @kitwood917 I'm so glad you got a kick out of my video, that was really the point, You may want to check out a site called hennaforhair they have a lot of good information there.

  • wow sorry about your bad experience...

  • It sounds like you had know idea what you where doing. You should have done more research.

  • @ITrue3000 I did exactly what the box told me. Then I changed because it wasn't working right, but I do agree I should have done more research. The story was still funny though.

  • girl i am cracking up stop. but seriously i am lookin for some color for grey kinky natural hair. HELP !!!

  • @blackchery1014 check out hennaforhairdotcome. They sell samples for $1.

  • LMBO...I'm sorry you had a bad experience but you have a great attitude about it...I'm going to try it in a couple of weeks...I hope it turns out the way it suppose to. Check out my channel for the vid....

  • @RandymTii I was so tired after staying up late trying to get all the little tries out of my hair all I could do was make a funny video out of it. If you henna doesn't work try henna for hair dot com.

  • I just used Henna in my hair and in comparison Ronald McDonald's hair looks more natural! Never again!

It didn't add any thickness to my hair like some people claim, it is shinier in some areas, but super dull in others as well, and it's ALL kinds of red...and that gritty stuff! It took me 1 hour to rinse that crap out(on top of the 5-6 hr process). My hair also smells gross to boot.

  • @xeniax70 it is a learning process, I learned since I used henna the first time that art quality is best. check out a website called henna for hair, they have really nice henna and sell testers.

  • @Nuru305 thanks for the site, its really informative. I just bought henna and it looked greenish so I was like wtf.. did they make a mistake, but I've never bought real henna before. I wish I could get some for my mom, chem hair dye really screws up her hair- makes it fall out and stuff.

  • @whatslovegot2dowifit I think that is the natural color, you don't really see the color until its mixed or in your hair, but some people have debated the correct color of good henna.

  • lmfao @ trapped in a tree. You know you should neva buy something for your hair with a white chick on it lolol

  • you were funny in describing your experience, i appreciate you sharing because i will not make the same mistake....going out to look for some henna now to cover my gray hair.....

  • Girl that shit was funny, I'm sorry but I'm glad you've recovered. lmao

  • Well. . . the color's pretty =)

  • Pure, art-quality henna isn't anything like those boxes of garbage. Don't blame it on henna. Blame it on the extra crap the company put into it.

  • you made a mistake, you CANT comb henna, your suppose to section your hair so you can SMOOTH it threw and SMUSH it threw. then you NEVER add OIL to henna. but about the flower thing, its GONNA be hard to get it out, your suppose to buy a WHOLE bottle of cheapie conditioner to help get the flowers out.

sorry you had a bad experience though, should have just researched it a little better.

  • @teylorlynn I should have just used the other henna I had. That one worked better. I did do research but changed my mind at the last minute and bought the one in the video. I've since put henna in my hair several time and I haven't had this experience again.. The oil this is for african american hair because henna drys us out a bit.

  • i got the one with the nativve american lookin feathers on it and it came out really good..

  • This is hilarious!

  • I did the henna coloring and my hair is a beautiful red now. But your experience was very entertaining!

  • girl next time follow directions!!!!!

  • @Colegi10 if you follow directions like you listen to videos. I doubt your results would be any better.

  • @Nuru305 I followed the directions and had my daughter put it in and got beautiful red/burgandy hair. Want me to do yours?

  • @Colegi10 you mean your daughter. Have you bothered to check when I posted this video or when the last time I put henna in my hair. By the way did you use the same brand?

  • @Colegi10 and are you even black, with my type of hair. If not I'm beginning to think your just one of those assholes on here who just like to post stupid comments under fake YT accounts.

  • color the gray sucks. but their regular kind iz good. uya kno ya supposed to put it in hot water and shit...but i dont wanna just be annoying u ......later

  • that mountain henna stuff sucks- also for white people.Do not put eggs in the mix. oil is ok.

  • @IamMaartje I'm glad someone said it cause I been getting flack on it. It was all to be funny. I've been trying other things.

  • Have you ever tried Lush Henna? It's a little different than the powder variety, but it's the real thing, and I like it a great deal.

  • @mglory67 Nope not yet, I just found one of the stores here where I live. Didn't get a chance to really check it out like I wanted :-(

  • That is not the right kind of henna. I'm sorry you went through trauma because of it.

  • @natrlchallenge I know that now. LOL wish I knew it then.

  • I don`t know how you mixed the henna, but a great thing to use is Argan oil, it doesn`t leave your hair greasy but it keeps the hair from drying out and don`t use lemon juice or essential oils when you mix the henna. Amla is also a great conditioner. You might want to try body art henna, it`s very finely sifted and doesn`t have those twigs and stuff.

  • @angelface190081 thanks, I've actually been checking out the site hennaforhairdotcom it's given so really good info. Wish I found it earlier. I had a better experience with henna in my since this video but I haven't done it in about a year.

  • I think your hair looked nice in the sun. Perhaps if you wore it in a pony tail/puff then we could see the color gradations better, but it turned out well. Thanks for sharing.

  • Whoo Queen! You had me rolling towards the end of your vid (when you held up the box with the White lady on it - OMG, I was too through) LOL! I wasn't laughing until you said, "Caught in a tree..." Too funny.

I'm glad everything worked out though. Hair care sure can be a hit or miss, you know? Thanks for sharing your story 8-)

  • Ive read tht real color of henna is red. u noe jamilah brand? thts one good stuff.

juz saying indigo henna or any color other than red, they put sumthing in it ,metal. which is hell bad for ur hair, once it oxidises it ruins ur hair. myb metal is in tht product. i dunnoe,

but hey, i noe ur freaked out, i will if i were u.

but wut was in ur hair? couldnt see.

  • this is funny

  • nice video. thx~smiling.u had me laughing...

  • I found a lot of answers to my question with this free ebook on the history and application of henna. It actually shows color on african american hair. Hope this helps search for the website( hennaforhair ) they have a free ebook. It has plenty of pictures and how it looks on various hair types and colors

  • @yoootube1716 THANKS SO MUCH! I haven't put henna in my hair in a bit. But I did order some samples from this site. I like that they had henna specifically for African hair. I found that the other henna's I used dried my hair out if I didn't add some type of oil to it.

  • trapped in a tree lmfao....im glad i saw ur video so i dont make the same mistake.

  • you have to buy the body art quality henna. thats the real kind. anything else is not real henna and can mess up your hair

  • trapped in a tree??!! roflol.....

  • I started laughing before you held up the box....I'm sorry for laughing, but your mannerisims are hilarious

  • LMAO! "People are going to think I got trapped in a tree!" That was just too funny! I'm sorry that you had to go through what you went through though, your hair did turn out beautiful.

  • i'm soooo glad that you and blackonyx made these videos!!! Yall got the exact same brand of henna that has the compound (not all natural henna) Sorry yall had to go through this :( But thanks for letting the public know!

  • Real henna is green...that is body art quality henna. If your henna is brown or any colour other than green...it's not real. You should do your homework before doing it. Maybe this will be helpful for future applications.

  • @goldennugget1 That's not always true. Some natural henna is brown. It depends on which section of the plant you get it from. The further down you pick on the plant, the browner is it and the higher up is greener. Then if you're using it to dye your hair, there will be other plants like indigo or natural flower petals.

  • Your video made laugh so much. You're supposed to mix the henna with lemon and coconut oil and leave it rest for 12 hours before applying it. It has be of nice consistency, evidently it wasn't thin enough and it was like pieces of clay . was Don't give up, if you have problems look on the utube or ask an Indian how to do it. they use henna.

  • this video is too funny lol:))) lol you just mix water your very funny:))

  • Henna Hut, baby...all you do is add water. I'm a black woman and I used the RED. I love the way my hair turned out. Just bought another box and a small bottle of the mendhi oil to do my roots. You won't believe how much it will grow too.

  • lol you wasnt pose to comb it lol

  • omg omg I am laughung so hard I am crying. This has made my day. Thank you good luck look yp Curly nikki on henna treatments . omg this was tooo funny

  • I don't think that that is pure henna. You should use body art quality henna (which doesnt have any additives) I think you will have much better results

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for this. I was gonna henna, but not now. You saved my locs!

  • @bratkiss I would read some of the comments I got. They gave some really good advise and I haven't had this issue since this video.

  • @bratkiss I would read some of the comments I got. They gave some really good advise and I haven't had this issue since this video.

  • I had to repeat 3:50-4:10 like 5 times, I'm sorry you had bad luck and I don't mean to laugh at you but that made me crack the hell up so bad lmao

  • @mischief13 I really did post this video to get some laughs as well. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • You are brave. Do research first, then be brave. Giggling.

  • @sneakytalk The mess up thing is. I did do research and then didn't use one bit of it. Had I added the egg and olive oil earlier it wouldn't have been so hard. But I still would have gotten all of the buds.

  • you should really just buy henna from your local Indian grocery store..those boxed ones at grocery stores have metallics in them sometimes and will affect your hair if you still have residue from prior hair colorings. Best choice is true henna..you don't have as many 'color' options, but it's damn good stuff!

  • @beatkidz187 , thank you I've seen it in the indian store I go to but I just haven't felt like dealing with it, I did henna my hair 3 more time after this, I found a nice grade through a lady I would buy my skin products from, it didn't make my hair hard and it was easy to deal with.

  • simply hilarious... sorry to laugh at this but girl you are funny :-)

  • real henna only comes in one color... red! don't buy from the health food store. that henna has chemicals. search online for real henna from pakistan or india. good luck!

  • @xninxx Thanks, I've learned that since I did this video 2 years ago.

  • @xninxx seriously???? no real henna's brown??????

  • @nuthing I wasn't refering to the color of henna I was referring to henna has chemicals and getting it at pakistan or indian stores. I've had many people say the same thing on this video. I have no idea what color real henna is.

  • @nuthing real henna naturally gives off a red dye. there is no such thing as a black brown or yellow henna.

  • @nuthing it is i have made tons of different colored henna and brown is one of them

  • Oh your poor thing.....but to funny.. at least you are taking it well. Looks great too!

  • LMAOOO

girl u had me rolling from 3:50 to the end!!!!

    lol....u shoulda known!!!

it had a white woman on the box!!!

    lol

it's all good though, we all learn from trial and error!

  • check out hennapage it has a super fine sift that has little to no grits in it i got curls so i understand

  • if u never have experiences henna before always ask before you buy and look for other products and get advice

  • ummm Smh...sorry LOL! at least ur laughing.

  • ummm Smh...sorry LOL!

  • u have such a great spirit...good luck nxt time girl. U had me scared from yo title...i jus bought sum henna today and u had me thinkin I needed to go n getta refund lol

  • yeah i agree with the people who said you should go for body art quality. that's a shame that this product is being sold when it doesn't work

  • OMG! You poor thing must have been terrible! Why the heck would they put gritty herbs in any product that goes in your hair!

  • LMAO@ trapped in a tree.

  • It's always good to get your ear's cleaned as well. Apparently if I thought the parts were suppose to mix and found out they didn't. I must have read the directions. Duh!

  • you should really study henna before you start buying it this wouldnt have happend sorry :(

  • It's funny how everyone just assumes that it was me and not the product. I've put henna in my hair 3 times since this and I haven't had problems.

  • Tx for posting this but I too am sorry you went through this. It took a lot of guts for you to do this! But I won't be buying this product EITHER!!!!

  • i love how im watching this as i have henna in my hair hopefully im a luckier than her

  • LMAO! "People are going to think I got trapped in a tree!" hilarious.

Hopefully next time you'll have a better experience.!

  • "I'm gonna go out in the street tomorrow and people gonna think I got trapped in a tree" LOL!

  • always go for the body art quality henna. There's a lot of henna applications out there that aren't TRUE henna. They are composed of henna mixed with harmful metallic salts. When you see box of henna that claims to be "brown henna, "black henna" or "blonde henna, it's a compound henna. Always go to reputable sources for your henna.

  • Hilarious!!

  • I bought the light mountain henna (not the one for grey)

tried it and it made my hair look really nice, color beautiful etc..

but it was something else to get out,,, alot of grit....

does the one for grey really cover grey? because i need to cover it badly.

  • Omg girl, I was trying to be nice and not laugh even though you can't see me ok, but when you started talking about cement, grains, sand, & the white girl on the box... I just burst out laughing. Now it is 3:30am and I'm howling. The kids are going to wake up for sure. I'm sorry you went through that too but thanks for the warning and the humor! ;-)

  • ...Trapped in a tree lol that is sooo funny! I'm glad you made this though because I was really thinking about trying it but I wanted to get others opinions about it first. Thanks!

  • OMG sounds terrible but I think you were suppossed to go with the body art henna...however you still have great looking hair. you know what they say girl trial and error lol

  • LMAFO lol saw this random vid but that comment made me laugh so hard lol

  • LOLOLLLL!

  • Girl! I know how you feel. I tried this crap (not the color the grey one but the regular kind by the same makers) I'd like to kick someone. I though I was the only one upset about the grainy stuff in the mix. This was my first henna experience and I thought well maybe its supposed to be extra thick like hard clay. never again. I'm getting a better grade of henna next time. one w/o that extra crap they tossed in:-(

  • You are funny :) at least you had humor about it.

sorry that you went through this.

I am going to get henna and I was going to order a 3 pack of this "Light Mountain" stuff, thank you for making my decision for me.. LOL

  • you are funny...:) at least you had humnor about it.

sorry you went through all this.

  • LMAO.. girl thats where you mess up when you bought that product with that white woman on the box

  • @Rico9XXX That's what I was thinking! LOL.

  • @Rico9XXX I agree with you 100%, we black women, need to wake up & see the beauty industries for what it really stands for (White Women Only!) the beauty industries aren't going to spend money to research good quality and safe beauty products for women of color, especially when it comes to black women types. Your really took a big risk with your precious locks, cause lord knows it take to long to grow it..

  • i've had a similar problem, but it wasn't that big a deal, you should have used quality art henna. Cuz its 100% natural and the grits won't be a big deal, that boxed stuff is no good, since its not totally natural. I've tried both and the quality art henna was much better

  • Aleast you can laugh about the experience. Trail and error....lmao

  • girl you so crazy you had me cracking up. "People gone think I was trapped in a tree" Thats so orginal LOL.....But you still look great.

  • You must use art quality henna. There is a dramatic difference in the quality and no additives, especially salt.

  • Sounds like you had a weird product - I've never heard of a 2-step process. I have great results with plain henna - it's just a greenish powder (the best stuff is powder, lower quality is coarser. If you get little sticks and flowers, use a siff to get that out). You mix (I make it yoghurt thickness and apply with a squirty bottle) apply it and leave it in.

  • Getting it out can be a pain. I've found the best way is to use a bucket while you're in the shower. I fill the bucket and bend over to dip my head into it. Swish around and/or use my hands to loosen the hair. Dump the water and repeat. Then when the water stays mostly clear, use a lot of conditioner, leave it in for a few minutes, and then repeat the bucket dipping. The conditiioner will make your hair slippy that the last henna grains will come out easily.

  • It might be a bit more work with your hair texture, but it should be possible. Hopefully you'll have better results when/if you try again :-)

  • oh, too funny! i had the same experience with the grit! AND i'm white...it's a nightmare.

  • lol, I'm glad to know that. I was wondering if it was the same. Since I'm natural it tends to wrap around and trap the grit. I manage to get a lot of it out and you couldn't see what was left.

  • lmao

  • Dayum this was a serious nightmare wow !! I enjoyed your story.

  • So funny, I'm sorry, that sounds horrible.

  • The very best henna I've used has been from the Middle Eastern Stores, My friend is originally from Egypt, and he turned me on to the henna from his country, it is Great. Years ago I used some henna that did the same thing, but the color was awesome, took me months to get it all out of my locs.....try henna from the middle eastern stores you'll love it

  • Lol..you are funny!

  • never use henna compounds go to the Indian store and buy art quality henna

  • lol - trapped in the tree. you're too funny.

  • You could have gotten a regular color rinse. For some reason I been reading many negative reviews about henna products.

I been using color hair dyes in my hair for six months now and yet no problems.

  • i just keep looking at the box hmmmmm!!

  • Lol! I couldn't help but to laugh, the way you described it sounds so horrible! Thanks for the heads up tho!

  • I am at work about to wet my self I am laughing so hard. I feel your pain. My first henna experience went the same way.

  • First of all I am sooo sorry about your henna nightmare. your clip was FUNNY though:-) I use henna 2 xper month and if you use the correct henna it is not dramatic at all. I buy "Jamila" brand @ the Indian grocery 4 1.49 a box(2) add cooled tea,2tbsp lemon juice. Wait for dye release, add 2tbsp olive oil,2tbsp honey,2tbsp melted sheabutter mix into paste(pancake batter)smoosh into hair,topw/walmart bag, towel wait four hrs rinse out, rinse w white rain condish,ORS replenishing, rollerset done!

  • Thanks for the instructions and the tips.

  • Ooh girl, I am so sorry to hear this experience. I was wanting to try henna, but I keep hearing bad things about it. I don't want to use the regular ammonia-peroxide stuff. Thankyou for posting this! :)

  • u crazy!

  • Girl, you are funny...and I like how your hair looks.

    Be blessed!

  • trapped in a tree! haha you made me laugh

  • thanks! i'm looking for ppd free products now cause realized i'm getting allergic reactions when i dye with reg hair dyes, i saw this product online, glad i saw your video, not buying it.......will keep searching!

    lot o' luv

  • Put 3 parts kali mehendi to 1 part henna, and for your hair add some olive oil or coconut oil (your preference.) That should help it sink in. Mix the two together instead of doing the two-step process, and you'll have nice black results.

You might encounter a bit of bluish residue, which just washes right out. It's fine and is simply due to the indigo. It rinses right out.

  • Thank you very much I will try this. I've been wanting to go black for a bit now.

  • The problem is definitely in the color you used. Your hair is the same color as mine is naturally. I use a mix of henna & indigo to keep it nice :)

My suggestion would be to go to an Indian grocery store and get henna used for body art. I tend to swear by Dulhan, but Mumtaz will do in a pinch (sift that one, it's gritty.) To make the mix, buy a box of what's called kali mehendi (it's really indigo with a few other things added.) Cont...

  • lol this video was sooo funny!! especially when you said "I should have known cuz there was a white lady on the box" lol well your hair look fabulous! thanks for the post :-)

  • your hair looks great though....love peace and spiritual unfoldment my beautiful sista...one love

  • Trapped in a tree---that was off the chain

  • I know its horrible to have something like that to happen to you.Henna is just a natural product that only lends highlights to dark hair and add more color to light colored hair.

  • I would loved to have seen your hair if you had read the instruction and put it on correctly. Also I don't think a natural color would be the one you wanted. It doesn't have much color to it.

Your story was funny, sorry it didn't work out for you.

  • I put it on correctly, I read the box 3 times before I started. It is the brand against my hair texture.

  • OMG that was hilarious

  • LOL, that was the funniest story i ever heard... trapped in a tree (classic) I had the same experience i thought i did something wrong, i won't ever use henna again, i was shaking stuff out my locs for hours......... you made my day

  • I tried another brand and it was gritty but it didn't have all the little flowers and stems in it like this brand did. So it washed out a lot better. It was still think but not like cement.

  • WHERE DO YOU GO AND BUY HENNA IN MIAMI

  • OMG

  • lol she said trapped in a tree lol

  • you should you body quality henna powder to mix it yourself. even when you mix it yourself, its supposed to be a little wetter than cement. if you use body quality henna, just slather it on sections and leave for 1-2 hours wrapped in plastic wrap and a towel, then rinse out. hennapage has a good tutorial

  • Thanks for the info.

  • Oh no! It must have had some kind of mineral salt in it. Happen sometimes when companies try to get fancy with the product. Did you buy the box at Henry's supermarket? The company makes another line for normal hair. You might want to try that one. It doesn't have any minerals in it, and it colors really well. Good luck! Hope it didn't damage your hair!

  • Nope got it at a Asian herb store. I've tried another since and it was alot better.

  • OMG, I used the same brand and that happened to me, to make it worse I have locks.. Talk about it looking like I had Italian Seasonings in my hair!!!! It also did not color my locks... I guess it's a lesson learned. I'll stick with my rinses....

  • u r hilarious...glad u got the hilights.

  • henna for hair (dot) com tells you all the things you need to know. it takes like 5 hours sometimes to get it to set in. and the stuff you buy in the store is not good (its full of metal salts) true, fresh henna is available online only. and it does take about an hour to get it out.
