  • Such a great organ and such a great song. It's just a shame the crash cymbal sounds so flat and the bells sound very chunky in this recording

  • @whoisthisguy724 The reason for that is that it's original stuff. Original crash cymbals on their band organs (and theatre organs as well, if you've ever heard an original cymbal on one of those) sound very bland because they're less cymbals, and more along the lines of trash can lids. The sound is the result of their shape and construction, and they're very often replaced with new, "real" cymbals on new band and restorations.

  • Is the band organ tempo adjustable? It seems like usually the pieces are all up-tempo.

  • @Thunkful2 Yes, there is a speed control somewhere on the organ

  • I remember that band organ well. It looks a bit like Jabba the Hut.

The drum and cymbal look like eyes. The large keys look like a bit nose, and the marimba looks like teeth. I can see kids being spooked by this thing, but it made some beautiful music. Many thanks to Dooby Center for restoring it many years ago.

  • @YouTransistor99

Well the little bells (or whatever they are) on the "right cheek" are very cute when they wiggle & should relieve any spooking.
