Ive never seen a better a better ending for a song than this one. U guys should hear it on the album wings over america, the ending is sick! Im also waiting for the remaster of wings over america coming this fall. Its going to sound even better!
George Martin was totally on the mark when he said that Paul has one of the most amazing rock voices ever. It totally shows in this song. I am blown away by how he could scream during the song and it would be absolutely pitch perfect!
That's just fucken out of this world!!!! How tight and big it sound it heaves at you. Sir Paul plays bass and sings a song that has a running scale through the bass line Like how does he do that whist keeping the rhythm and sing in tune has got me beat. Like person with no limbs delivering news papers almost impossible.
I saw Wings play in Philadelphia. I was with 4 or 5 other people, and I remember that we all walked out of there saying it was the best concert we'd ever been to, and we'd already seen The Who, Jimmy Hendrix, etc. Soily put us all right over the top. We didn't even know the song, but we knew that we had experienced something that was amazing. You could not beat Paul McCartney when he was in his prime. He was too talented, too good, too beautiful. John was a genius, but Paul was unbelievable.
The opening always gives me the chills right through to 1:26 (everytime!) Just absolutely love, love, love this song and the great guitar work by Paul and the band.
I can't thank you enough for posting this! This is the most incredible decade of his career. Wings were phenomenal! With the Beatles he was at his most brilliant-his genius showed thru his writing. with Wings however, he was in top voice and downright ENTERTAINING! The songs weren't as Beatle Cerebral, but fabulous and fun non-the-less. All the touring he wasn't allowed to do in the late Beatles years resonated into this audio/visual MASTERCLASS! My Fave McCartney years right here! THANKS AGAIN!
he should've stopped the rock star thing after this tour and maybe done more intimate selective acoustic performances. because he wasn't really ever able to compete with this version of himself again. here his voice at this musical screaming rock is peerless. maybe this tour was the last hurrah he could never quite recreate, proving how utterly beyond the rest of the Beatles he was as a performer.
I love this song right from the beginning to the end: incredible guitar work and drumming and Paul's voice throughout. What a way to end a show with "Soily" (my all-time fav from the album/CD) and the and the stage lighting and settiing.
Thank you ever so much for posting all of Rockshow (now I won't have to go out and try to find the DVD of this).
guys, Guys GUYS! paul's performance=magnificent beyond compare. however ALL (er, 90%) of the backing vocals were redone in the studio. there is a "live feed," with the original backing vocals on youtube; i'll try to find and post to show you the BIG difference. (i was at this show, by the way, seattle being my SUCK ASS home town, ha ha.)
so, before we go apeshit over the 'performances,' note please, save for paul, the others 'cheated,' by TOTALLY re-making them in the studio.
My friends step-brother took us to this show in the Kingdome! I can remember it being the first concert I had ever seen using laser beams. In fact it was one of my first few concerts!
No, there is not! LOL! Awesome album and horribly underrated band. OK, so they WEREN'T that "other" band Paul was in. Whatever! WOA came out about a year before I started playing bass. It is a virtual bass lesson set to vinyl.
I agree with Whigfarmer, thank you very much for posting this. I haven't seen Rockshow in maybe 20 years and it was great to see it again! Thanks for sharing the love.
My first Rock Show (Wings over America '76) was at the ripe old age of 14 at the brand spankin' new Mc Nichols arena in Denver. since deemed obsolete and torn down...
I have to say Thank You very much for posting this, I watched all 12 parts and it brought back many fond memories...
Hey citycity49, I wonder what means your response? Does it means L7 or C-Moon or as those both square ? Anyway, I liked this video so much that I shared it already on my other site far from youtube :)

This song kicks ass! Paul is rocking hard. He looks darned cool with his Rickenbacker bass, and I'm impressed by his playing as he sings too.

no, they're NOT sped up by a half step. the uploader for some reason, probably technical 'artifact' put maybe 10% speed tops.
