You know what boggles my mind? We all knew most of these so called "cheats" (which were more secrets built into the game) though there was no internets. There was no series of tubes went to and look these up.... yet we ALL knew that the white blocks would let you go through after a few seconds of crouching on them... .in level 3 and the first mini castle there were flutes hidden... the second world in mario 1 (the underground world) had hidden levels if you went past the "end" tube.

You see how he slides through the wall and enters the warp pipe? Note that since he didn't go all the way to the end of the room, the numbers above the Warp Pipe didn't appear, and therefor the game didn't recognize the World number when he entered. Many people call this World Negative 1, but what it actually means is World *blank*-1. (For example, the first stage is 1-1, but since the world was blank, there was no number before the dash, making it look like negative one.

The glitch is to go into World -1, and it doesn't work by jumping on the ledge. You HAVE to go through that wall, and enter the first warp pipe BEFORE the camera pans across the whole screen. If you jump on the ledge, you wouldn't be able to get to the pipe before the camera was all the way at the end, therefor you couldn't enter World -1

Flutes not a glitch. Easter egg. Similar way to jump your game ahead quickly like the Warp Zone. The one after world -1 just looks like a bunch of hacking. The shell hopping is manipulation, not glitch. It's even mentioned in later games as a way to gain lives. The hopping up hills is again, manipulation, this time of slope angles.

Really, this video looks like the poster just made a compilation of other videos of glitches on YouTube. Sheesh.

@mordorguardian I know what it does....And Easter eggs are not necessarily useless. Halo 2 Easter Egg: Hidden Scarab Gun. Halo Reach Easter Egg: 4 Banshees by hitting 2 secret switches. Even Sonic has Easter Eggs. They have been in games forever. Not a cheat. You go through a process of activating certain switches, like falling behind the block, to access something that is not obvious. That sounds like an Easter Egg hunt to me.....But if you use a Game Genie....Those are cheats =)
