  • just got mine yesterday , i found this usefull thanks bro :)

  • I'm thinking about getting one for the purpose of storing a bunch of OFFICIAL Industry Standard Sound Effects, such as, all those DJ sirens, air horns, cars racing by, etc. Do you think it would be good for that? I have 2 Numark NDX400's and a Numark M3 Mixer, and a powered speaker, would I hook it up to my mixer? Thanks!

  • cool video.

  • so many dumb people commenting

  • Great vid man. But I need more insight.

Could you make a vid where you basically create a beat.

Sample drums, arrange them over the pads (banks), then record patterns (intro/chorus/verse/bridge) with the resample method.

  • can you record into it.?...call up on demand.?...can you call me.,.?..ask for tee 661 636 6030

  • megaman 2!

  • thaaaaaynk ya

  • why the f*ck people wearing hat in house in USA ?!

  • @Idlerbeat haha

  • @Idlerbeats cos your a fucking idiot

  • @areetworskid This is a good argument

  • @Idlerbeats because fuck you. No but seriously, cultural differences are the spice of life.

  • where can i by one?

  • hey man...like the video thanks for the demo. I have a question.

What is the oldest version of the roland sp samplers where you can sample from computer files? (not from records)

    Thanks!

  • I've had mine pretty much since it came out and never figured out the tap tempo. I could use some help.

  • just got mine today. :)

still figuring it out though...this vid helped somewhat.

  • OH MAI GOD is that Clash man's level? i was recently messing with woodman's on my nanokontrols. megaman 2 for the WIN

  • what would be dope is if it had a midi out too so it could be used a a portable sequencer for something like the microkorg

dope video btw the only thing id like you to add is a resampling with the effects explenation

  • been helpful man thanks im really interested in buying one im, new to the world in beat boxes but you sold me into buying one........... it also can be used as a beat maker right im confused??

  • I appreciate the video - just what I was looking for. The megaman samples are classy, too. 8)

  • i cant figure out how to record samples from vinyl on to my 303

    can you help me out?

  • do you know how to fomat the memory card

  • Great Vid man, sold it for me, I'm gonna get one ASAP!

  • sweet, the 404 has a lot more memory an it is about the same price second hand! I would get a 404 for sure. I have both

  • did you ever find a way to record a sample while another one is playing?

  • yo i made a video it's called "help with the sp 303"

  • 2 questions....

    1) What does the peak light mean?

    2) How do you get the pads to cancel each other out? So that 2 pads dont play at the same time, cause it sounds like SHIT when they do lmao

  • @LastHopeOmid the peak light means your signal is to loud and when you play back it will clip off the hot sound or sound very distorted.

The pads will never cut each other off, that option is only on bigger workstations like mpc or mv800/8800

  • well i saw in a video that if u have the tempo's all the same it would for some reason, but others say u dont have to...so your saying basically the only way to do something like hit 1 then right after 2 to have only the start of 1, i would have to create a different pad that is just the start of the 1st one that i want?

  • @LastHopeOmid Well, you can set pads to trigger in two different ways Gated and un-gated. Gated means the sample only plays when you hold the pad down. When a pad(Sample) is not gated it plays from beginning to end and you can retrigger it at anytime while it is playing and it will start again from the beginning. You can gate samples on the fly by the way.

  • yeah, i saw that function but it doesn't really work for what i want...is there no other way, other than to make a seperate pad for the short, cut off sample and one for the full one???

  • @LastHopeOmid can you make a vid of what you are trying to do? It would be a lot easier for me to help you if i could see what you are doing. Are u using a 303 or 404?

  • 303, and yeah i was thinking the same thing, i'll make one tomorrow, it's too late for me to do it right now.

  • how do you upload da beats into it??

  • @popodiego it has rca inputs

  • so the 202 is just this but portable..?

  • @slapbassboy1 no, with the 202 you cannot resample and there is no pattern sequencer.

  • a spray can hahah my thoughts completed, but these samplers are awesome

  • Is it possible to save samples with the 303,if you have connected it with a gameboy?

  • sure

  • can I use this with ableton through MIDI

  • How does the 303 compare to the 202?

  • the 202 cannot resample and does not have a pattern sequencer.

  • Any ideas on how I can get my patterns onto my PC, for use with software such as FL or Acid Pro?? Got a smart media card reader for it, though I hear you can't export them as WAV files and such, but I'm a bit clueless to how you get them to play on PC at all. Thanks.

  • rca to 1/8inch cable

put rca in the audio out then the 1/8th in your computers mic input

    record to software

  • Mega Man 2 FTW! Always been my favorite NES game.

Here's my question to you: I have an MPC 2500. Do you think the 303 (or 404) would be easier/quicker to use? Not to replace my MPC, just to have something with a different approach.

  • Not easier or quicker, stick to your MPC

  • J DIlla made donuts with an sp-303 and a TT.

    madlib also uses the sp-303

  • Quasimoto for the win

Madvillain (MF Doom + Madlib) made 2 songs using the 303

  • No Donuts was made on a Korg ESX-1

Go look it up my son.

  • did you just say Donuts was made on an ESX?!?

    Man,you must be kidding.

  • I did. Prove me wrong. I have evidence with reliable sources.

  • so between the 303, 404 and 505 which is the best buy

  • SP 505.

Maybe because I have the 505, but since it has a screen, wave edit is easy with samples. It holds twice as much memory as a 303, and twice as many pads. The 404 is a decent choice, but still no real screen. Also, the 505 has a more gritty, warm sound. The 404 is too up to date

  • well the 404 has compact flash and mic in and batteries. The 303 has better pads than the 404. It is really up to you.

  • 303 has the best pads but the cards for both the 303 and 505 are super hard to come by and they have really long processing times compared to the almost instant 404 (i've had all 3)

  • whats better mpc or this?

  • this

  • i've played around with the sp 303 and a mpc and i think they are the same,,,,

its just the mpc actually has a screen,,,,which makes everything easier,,,,,,

i might get the sp 303 and call it a day,,,,,,,,and plus who has $1000+ for an mpc

  • mf-doom uses a sp-303 crazy and he is one of the best

  • He uses it too? I thought he used a MPC 60

  • Never mind. Doom actually does use it.

  • I thought Madlib used a 303 for Dooms Madvilliany album? But if Doom uses it then thats sick

  • The back cover of Wax Poetics #31 is DOOM with a 303 in hand...and he talks about it a lot in the interview. Been on a big DOOM trip lately...I love my MPC, but may have to investigate the 303 some more...actually that's why I'm here!

  • megman .. hehe nice =)

  • thanks, thinking about getting one of these, very helpful.

  • you can connect the midi out from your synth to the midi in from the 303 and then play all the pads from the 303 on your synthkeyboard, with another midi out from your synth to midi in on your computer you can record these signals

  • but how could we record an sp 303 synch performance into a software (ableton live, cubase, sonar etc etc)in a pc? i ask this because the sp 303 i think it don't transmits any midi message but i would buy one and this condition it will be very important to the purchase.

  • why not do it in abelton and fire midi out to the 303?

  • another solution could be this: i connect the midi in of the sp 303 to the midi out of the m-audio fast track pro(my new sound card)and then record in synch with ableton live cubase etcetc.

  • hi

how could you record in synch the sp 303 with a pc if te 303 got only a midi-in? there exist a method to do it however?

  • Im not sure about that.

  • megaman: good choice!!

  • Hi man! Good device! )

  • smart media cards are a pain to find...

  • how long is the max beat length to a sample?

  • as long as you have memory, i can record almost 1 hour, that could be split into diff pads or 1 pad.

  • yeah i have the same concern that wetwillyy92 has. help!

  • yeah dude over here in california they started selling smart media cards at guitar center, but you know they discontinued making these cards thats why they are so hard to find, so ive been ordering them from S.A. Technologies over here in Cali their number is 408 980 8355

  • Oh Word? Thankx man.

  • hey, i really need some help. i just got a sp 303 off ebay, and tried to sequence with it and i cant get it to playback after the measure is up, or save the pattern for that matter. am i not pressing a certain button or somthing? (granted i at least know to press record to start and stop) or did i just get screwed.. all the other functions work fine, seems odd that only the sequencing would be messed up.. any info would help alot.

  • dude i need the smart media card!! i cant find it any where... can u help ?

  • Dudde, i think they stopped making them. You can find them on ebay, i know they are expensive, but it is what it is.

  • Go to Amazon and type in Smart Media Card. You can get new and used ones from sellers. They're like 30-50 bucks.

    Peace.

  • thanks for heling my viewers man, it is hard to find them especially if you live in remote areas. --jeff--

  • there hard to find ive been getting mine at camera shops

  • guitar center started selling them again

  • Not the ones in St. Louis.

  • brilliant stuff! Other demos on here was pretty crap! Getting mine second hand in 2 days woo! So hard to get in Ireland unless you want to play 500 euro for a brand new one.. no thank you!

  • he probably said that you need a mixer for it to work because the turntables do not have any amplification, that is what the mixer does. When you are sampling you want the clip light to show up at the very peak of loudness. You could sample into the mic 1/8 input and you can use the small gain knob, that may help you. Make sure that if your turntables have a ground wore it is attached to the mixers ground plug.

  • I bought a 303 on ebay and when i try to sample from vinyl all im gettin is a buzzing sound and i can just barely hear the track , i tried hooking my turntable to the 303 and also my turntable through my amp then into the 303 but im just gettin the same result. U think its broke or am i connecting it wrong ? , the guy i bought it from says i need a mixer for it to work ?.

    any help appreciated

  • dude, sorry i did not reply to your comment, i just left a comment so it is right above your question here, sorry for the inconvenience.
