Nice try but rarely is a cover as good or better than the original....this is just another failed cover in my opinion. You can't take out the guitar in this song! That is what made the song!

It is very hard to do songs better then the original artist. I loved Def Leppards version. Yet something just feels right when lionel richie sings it.

Lionel's voice is so haunting in this. His version sounds more tearful.

Def Leppard's version is sad but with a hopeful feel to it.

I never post any comments on here, but anyone who thinks that Lionel's version is better than Leppards is crazy! Not even close! Everyone thinks of "Pour Some Sugar on Me" when the they think of Leppard, but they are so much more than that! Listen to them as musicians in their version, , , unbelievable song! One of their best!

i agree that Def Leppard did a better version if Lionel Richie mentioned it on a radio interview, but he has an R&B feel to it! Def Leppard sings it like appropriate for intimate moments

Not sure if you know this but Def Lepard wrote this song in 2003, their version is like most originals better, check it out :o) Joe Elliots voice is well suited to it.

@jinkazamamonkey Def didn't write this at all, it was written by Wayne Hector& Steve Robson. It's the only song on 'X' that isn't credited to the band (but you could argue X was a pop-produced detour anyway). Don't get me wrong I love me some Lepp tho!
