Ever heard of Parallels ? I play crysis and crysis 2 / COD4 on my Mac Pro at full spec on the highest resolutions - no slowdown or lag. I use it for video editing in final cut and high end motion graphics on films and commercials. I boot up in windows/osx and linux to use autodesk smoke. I can't do those things on a PC. Hence why its my tool of choice. 8 cores, 24 gig of ram and a Radeon 4870 / Quadro FX 5600 for Smoke. No comparison.
I guess my only problem is most of the people I know who have pc laptops have bough multiple of them from crashing and just not working after awhile. and the people I know with macs haven't have to worry about it not working for alot longer and have way less headaches. I'm not saying one is better or worse than the other, but for me my mac has been more reliable.

That's ignorant. My MacBook Pro was faster than every single machine on display at BestBuy, hands down. Vista gave it a 5.4, not one machine matched it. I only paid $1,600 for it. When I sold it, I actually made a profit.

I find the argument that "Macs are more stable than PCs" flawed. My XP machine has been running for over 2 years without a single hiccup and I know few people that complain about their PCs stability.

also, i can upgrade the processor and gpu on my laptop, it's an asus so the parts are fairly easy to get to, unlike macbooks
NOTE about video quality: I noticed that "New MAC" has lighting glare. Though it keys out the screen, it doesn't quite look good. Unless you like the "shiny new Mac" appearance. Sleek black macs wear sleek black buttondowns? The video as a whole is hilarious - to the favorites bin!
Thanks for the input and for favoriting. It was difficult to shoot. We didn't have a real white background so we used our green screen, (green fabric in a basement) and they keyed it out in post. No money meant using halogen shop lights, only had two of them one side brighter than the other. We couldn't move the actors away from the screen, the room wasn't large enough, so they got lit harshly. It worked out well enough, but there are things I would do differently if I had the resources.
My group and I were planning to do a Mac parody of our own to endorse our school writers' guild and we kinda needed to know how to make one. By far most Mac parodies I watched either used green screen or a white wall. This by far has the best use of green screen I've seen, although some parts appeared to be choppy and the lighting's a bit off. Great job nonetheless.
i don't see why there is an argument. Mac's work better with some applications, and PC's work better with others. You can't compare the two, it's apples and oranges. Instead of complaining all of the time, people should just learn how to use both and then there won't be any problems.
I have used macs at school. My experience of them is that they are generally glitchy. Quite often they won't login, or programs will randomly freeze. It's possible that this is due to the not so great networking I've seen, or that the computers simply aren't well maintained. But I find that my experience with my vista PC has been much better. Although I do encounter bugs on my PC, it's much more flexible towards fixing them. Just my observation though...

Windows was made to work on an unlimited amount of hardware configurations. OSX wad designed to work on Apple hardware only. That is why it is so stable. The majority of PCs out there are stilly bulky and noisy, by my standards. Some manufacturers are starting to come around. We just got a new Acer notebook where I work, and I actually like the hardware. They took a lot from Apple's playbook on this new model.

If you look at how far Mac OS X has come since it's initial release (200+ new features in Tiger and 300+ new features in Leopard), I think it says a lot about how well designed Mac OS X really is. Microsoft can't tack a few new features to Windows XP without a nightmare in system requirements. Apple works on ways to make Mac OS X more streamlined and efficient while Microsoft just adds more bloat.
For once, I agree with a Mac Owner (UbiquitousGeek). Vista doesn't really have enough new features for it to really be called a new version of Windows. I know this because i'm running vista on my laptop. But previous upgrades of windows were big changes. for example, Win98 to Win2000 Was a Big change. or Win3.1 to Win95.
But there's still no way I'd ever replace my PC with a Mac. There's just not enough games or software. Maybe if I had a PC and a Mac, that would be better. But if i could only choose one, then it's the PC by a land slide.

That's ignorant. My MacBook Pro was faster than every single machine on display at BestBuy, hands down. Vista gave it a 5.4, not one machine matched it. I only paid $1,600 for it. When I sold it, I actually made a profit.

What's the point of arguing the mac vs pc thing, people are afraid of change so they fear mac. I find the argument that "Macs are more stable than PCs" flawed. My XP machine has been running for over 2 years without a single hiccup and I know few people that complain about their PCs stability.
I'm willing to wager that if Macs were as wide-spread as PCs their renowned "stability" would be called into question.
You don't hear about Linux systems crashing much do you? allot of versions have as good a GUI as Windows or Mac. Why buy a mac when Linux is available for free and just as stable?

i don't have an all in one, because you pay more money for slower parts
with a desktop, things like space consumption, power consumption, and looks don't really matter, unless you live in a walk in closet, or if you can't afford a slightly higher power bill
and if you are buying a mac then you probably don't live like that
also, i can upgrade the processor and gpu on my laptop, it's an asus so the parts are fairly easy to get to, unlike macbooks

Thanks for the input and for favoriting. It was difficult to shoot. We didn't have a real white background so we used our green screen, (green fabric in a basement) and they keyed it out in post. No money meant using halogen shop lights, only had two of them one side brighter than the other. We couldn't move the actors away from the screen, the room wasn't large enough, so they got lit harshly. It worked out well enough, but there are things I would do differently if I had the resources.

My group and I were planning to do a Mac parody of our own to endorse our school writers' guild and we kinda needed to know how to make one. By far most Mac parodies I watched either used green screen or a white wall. This by far has the best use of green screen I've seen, although some parts appeared to be choppy and the lighting's a bit off. Great job nonetheless.

I have used macs at school. My experience of them is that they are generally glitchy. Quite often they won't login, or programs will randomly freeze. It's possible that this is due to the not so great networking I've seen, or that the computers simply aren't well maintained. But I find that my experience with my vista PC has been much better. Although I do encounter bugs on my PC, it's much more flexible towards fixing them. Just my observation though...

Windows was made to work on an unlimited amount of hardware configurations. OSX wad designed to work on Apple hardware only. That is why it is so stable. The majority of PCs out there are stilly bulky and noisy, by my standards. Some manufacturers are starting to come around. We just got a new Acer notebook where I work, and I actually like the hardware. They took a lot from Apple's playbook on this new model.

Before 2006, Macs used IBM PowerPC processors, which, at the time, where the best choice for the Mac. They were way more powerful than Pentium chips. Today, it's all about power consumption. IBM couldn't deliver a powerful yet efficient chip for Apple's notebooks, so Apple went to Intel.

Yes, actually, it does. If you look at how far Mac OS X has come since it's initial release (200+ new features in Tiger and 300+ new features in Leopard), I think it says a lot about how well designed Mac OS X really is. Microsoft can't tack a few new features to Windows XP without a nightmare in system requirements. Apple works on ways to make Mac OS X more streamlined and efficient while Microsoft just adds more bloat.

For once, I agree with a Mac Owner (UbiquitousGeek). Vista doesn't really have enough new features for it to really be called a new version of Windows. I know this because i'm running vista on my laptop. But previous upgrades of windows were big changes. for example, Win98 to Win2000 Was a Big change. or Win3.1 to Win95.

But there's still no way I'd ever replace my PC with a Mac. There's just not enough games or software. Maybe if I had a PC and a Mac, that would be better. But if i could only choose one, then it's the PC by a land slide.
