Half the time the kid does not even have autism. Many parents want their child to be so-called diagnosed with it, so that they can get money from the state and stay home. And do not call me crazy. Because I know women that wanted to get a disability check here in CA. plus all the other benefit's,because they wanted to stay home and not work. They live with their boyfriends and do not tell the state,or they would lose there money and housing. There are a ton of women doing this.
There are so many levels and kinds of autisim that no 2 children are alike. I have 2 grandsons, (brothers), with autism and they both show differently. One is non verbal but very smart. The other is verbal but not up to the level of other kids his age. He can talk and say what he wants but doesnt understand simple commands and doesnt know his colors or numbers. He is 5. His brother is 3 and not only knows his colors but knows his numbers as well. He cant tell you but he can show you.
I have Asperger's, I do not feel its devasting. I have a job, drive, and going to college. you have a lot of nerve to say that autism is a problem that causes divorce. As for my "repatative and bizzare" stimming behaviors thats used to gain access to my world. In my world I'm not shunned n frowned upon. You know what? I'm happy that my imgination will never die, I can memorize number, and love science. I wouldn't cure my autism if I could! Maybe I find eye contact "bizzare" ever considered that?
@xithbaby Nothing to do with drugs used during labour. I have one child, who has a diagnosis of ASD. NO DRUGS were ever used by me during the pregnancy and labour. Not even so much as a cough drop! I was paranoid about all that stuff harming Baby.
People need to stop feeling like those with ASD need sympathy or compassion. From what I can tell, they really don't see what the big deal is. This vid makes it sound like a death sentence. It isn't!!
You make it sound like a disease. It's not a disease it's a way of thinking differently, you see things differently, and you develop differently. I have it and I just learned to deal with it.
The U.S. Department of Justice has handed down an indictment against a former CDC scientist who led research studies that claimed to disprove any link between vaccines and autism.According to government documents, Dr. Poul Thorsen, one of the key researchers in "disproving" any link between vaccines and autism, allegedly defrauded the scientific research community of over one million dollars. See NaturalNews*cm
autistic children are so special yes they have their quiet ways but if you take time and let them show you their way they grow much faster in confedence. My grandson has it, we find short talk like coat for shopping instaed of a story about why you need the coat, saying i love you darling your so clever it does help them. Parents fall apart when they dont let other family members help out to let them get a day out by themselfs to keep the marriage alive dont try to do it all by yourselfs
my neighbors have an autistic boy, they divorced because the husband cheated cause he was a dick or maybe his wife was a fatass to begin with but they never blamed the boy and have 2 other kids who are normal, autism is just a lack of communication, eye contact and abstract behavior, dosent mean there fucking stupid! so this video is a bit off with the facts
@n0x524 my oldest was diagnosed with AS last year. I always knew - but he is super intelligent and somehow managed to mask it. I would like to agree with you - my son taught me how to be a parent and every day, even as a teenager, brings something new. mostly acceptance and tolerance, on a funny note, we always just thought he was eccentric and odd like the rest of us lol. he's a great kid.
@n0x524 - actually it's your comment which needs to be removed! If you can't say what you need to say without using language as appalling as yours, don't say it.
Children under 2 years old are very sensitive to their mother's/parents subconscious state. They pick up any stress, material desire, pride, fear and etc. from their mom. What are the consequences? Autism, depression, violence and etc later on. Change within, your inner impression of the world, accept self forgiveness, love and your children will get better. And stop vaccines before they are 2 years old. the immune system is still developing-let it take its natural course...!
@nakita13williams it could be devastating to some families. not being able to communicate or know what their child is thinking. maybe not being able to see them do certain things. it wasn't meant to be hurtful i am sure.
@nakita13williams yeah i agree though. she definitely made it sound like people with autism ruin marriages, and are kind of a nuisance. you are right. she could have been more optimistic about it. people are born with all sorts of difficulties but you just have to do the best you can to help them lead a "normal" life. it doesn't have to be devastating if you have a good attitude about it.
@nakita13williams I am sorry. You were certainly not a mistake. Everyone has a purpose here. All life is beautiful and has meaning. Sorry she hurt your feelings.
Actually, some recent study found that parents of autistic kids are no more likely to get divorced.
As far as checklists are concerned, the M-CHAT is better validated than the CHAT mentioned in this video. Also, some autistic kids do point at objects... but rarely if ever point at something just to share their interest (e.g. at an elephant walking down the street - they might stare at it, but won't point to show their parents, when normal kids would be "mommy, elephant!").
my son has a diagnosis of autism and has since 18 months and still fails this screening now at 24 months but has changed leaps and bounds with therapy over the last 6 months. I took my son in at 9 months noticing something wasn't right. I am glad I didn't listen to family who told me it was all normal.
My son passed his Autism screening at age 1 1/2 from his doctor, then he was diagnosed with Autism at age 3. You bet I am mad at his doctor. And, maybe all the damn vaccines he had to get for school messed him up.
@MySonHasAutism: Unfortunately, screening is never going to be 100%. An autistic child can behave identically to comparable neurotypical children for 5 minutes, and pass a screening. It is also extremely doubtful that a vaccine would cause this autism- Autism can remain relatively dormant for years. This is why many doctors use the PDD-NOS label until around age 5.
I would think it has to do more with the medications they give you while you go into labor, it seems pregnancy is now a "In-out" procedure.. I had my daughter and I had to REFUSE it. They wanted to give me all sorts of stuff, some of it I didnt even know what it was. I had a drug free birth, like it should be. My daughter is healthy 100% :)

The emr goes thru your skin into your blood then into your fetus. Your blood is being containminated by the cell phone emr. the blood damages the brain and digestive systems. They don't have autism they have brain damage from emr exposure
@josecitoperecito That is very true my cousin has mild autism and he is 3 but let me tell you he can get on the computer watch thomas on youtube on by him self and he can go on games for kids
Sorry, but my daughter has moderate autism and is nonverbal, relies on grunts, screams and signlanguage to communicate. To have a screening to see if the child points or looks at what another is pointing at is rediculous, in my opinion, because my daughter points, is very intelligent, and if asked on a picture graph where something is she will point at it. She is three now, and that I can remember she has always pointed. Everyone is different and presents differently.
@nagaempress I think the use of the word devastating is meant as an expression regarding the inability of the child to recognize or show affection. (Not saying that's every case)

I don't see why they use the word "risk" for autism.
It's not like it's some infectious disease that hinders health.

I hate to say this but parents of a child with any disablity are more likely to divorce. It's not just autism. I hate when people generalize.
