  • The album version is this bass line that sounds like something Paul McCartney would write, completing the effect that this song could fit in on any Wings album. Also the live version doesn't have that solo where he switches to the lead pickup half way through.

  • this sounds like the live version, not the album version.

  • I first heard Phil Keaggy in 1974 the year I was saved. I was living in Michigan and went went to Dearborn Bookstore to buy the album. It was on vinyl. I played the heck out of it. It was my first "Christian" music. There weren't many christian bookstores or music available like there are today. I remember Jimmy Hendricks saying that Keaggy was one of the best guitarist around even though he played with the loss of one finger. There are some good videos on youtube.

  • "....Oh what a day that will be....." by Phil Keaggy... thats a sweet tune I haven't heard in ages ....my friend took me to see him in concert

  • This song brings me to my childhood....I can smell the living room....feel the warm record player....and see the dust dancing in the room....some childhood memmories from my mom's music!

  • i love this song i heard it first on kwave 107.9 fm christian music station debbie hodge

  • i love this song i heard it first on kwave 107.9 fm christian music station

  • this song is from the "How the West Was Won" album

  • Great reminder! especially when life on earth gets really hard - we have a lot to look forward to!

  • His humbleness is the greatest part.

  • I saw him many times at Calvary Chapel back in the old days. I was only 15 living in a Christian Commune! What days those were!!

  • He's amazing... :)

  • This song just blows my mind, everytime I listen to it since I bought the LP in 1973, one of the most amazing and inspiring Christian songs EVER!

  • @nealixd Amen! Had a huge impact on my life at age17, learning of the Love of God from one the greatest artist I've heard or seen live. I have been to more than a hundred concerts, living in California & also Colorado, shows at Red Rocks CO. all were amazed by his talent! Many artists Christian & not have remarked at Phih Keaggy's amazing talent. The fact that he uses his God-given talent to spread the Love of God makes it even better. Thanks for the memories Phil!

  • Saw him in concert at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa 1977! Yeah! Those were some good concerts!

  • This sounds different than the track on the CD...?

  • @scottobiblestudy If you want to really hear this song in all its full glory, you have to hear the original vinyl LP, it sounds incredibly huge, big, fat, warm, bluesy, joyful, enthusiastic, energetic & completely annointed by the Holy Spirit in a way you rarely hear today! The CD loses a ton in translation from analog to digital. Also, Phil played and sang everything on What a Day, much in the style of Paul McCartney. Most amazing album he did, his first, a Christian classic and masterpiece!

  • I so loved this album!!! why is it not on cd??? oh please!!

  • @1peggyl It is on CD. It was released as a double CD with Love Broke Thru.

  • I heard that Paul is a fan of Phil's. In face he played at Paul's birthday party one year.

  • When I first got saved in '79, one of my first questions was "what music am I going to listen to?" I met some Christian friends (we were all in our early twentys) who turned me on to Christian musicians -Phil, 2nd Chapter, Imperials etc. This was the first Keaggy CD (well, 8 track back then) that was shared with me. After all these many years, Phil is still the man. GBU, Phil Keaggy!!!

  • I love the song! But his voice does sound a lot like paul mccartney.

Used to have the LP but it got lost. Wish they would remaster it for cd.

  • This song almost sounds like a Christian version of early Paul McCartney.

  • This song almost sounds like a Christian version of early Paul McCartney.

  • What a day that will be, indeed! I can't wait for the Lord to call me HOME someday!

  • when i was 11, the Christian family commune in freeville ny sent me this cassette after i saw their story in time magazine. I wrote them, and with the tape they shared the message of salvation with me...since then...Hallelujah! Praise the Lord for time magazine,,bet they didnt figure people gettin' saved...lol!

  • @pookbeekmom awesome love stories like this, God uses fish and loaves or whatever to save - keep close to Him!

  • I got turned on to his music when I found his 2 for 1 cd. then I found What A day on LP. Like a dum dum I got rid of it and a bunch of others when I made a move.

  • Oh what a day that will be :) Beautiful :)

  • How much I was blessed with these songs in my early years as a christian§Such great memories...

  • does anyone what happened to Debbie Kerner? she sang "the peace that passes all understanding will rule in your heart today" excellent songwriter. her songs convinced me of my sin.. bless her Lord Jesus, amen

  • I don't know where you got that recording from, but that's not from the original album! He did it all by himself in the studio, no background singers or audience.

  • This song comes from the Album 'How The West Was Won.' Phil did a tour with 2nd Chapter of Acts. 2nd Chapter of Acts is who you hear in the background.

  • @heycolslaw The album version was an amazing version indeed...my favorite..

Having 2nd Chapter of Acts singing is a treat....

Luv Lisa Jane....fellow Keaggy fan since the mid 70's !

  • I'm the happy owner of this LP. I think it was pressed 1971 or 72, I'll have to look again.

Love Phil's work, especially the Master & Musician

Probably one of the most proficient guitarist ever (secular or religious).

  • One of the best Christian albums ever. First one that really ministered to me, after I got saved in '77. Please God raise up some more creative artists who break the mold.

  • I know what you mean to be honest with you I really detest what CCM has become today. Its all fluff and seeker sensitive. PK and Keith Green are really the only two artist (and RM of course) are the only ones I listen to in CCM that really minister to me.

I dont listen to much CCM besides those artists all the rest is entertainment money making shallow mediocre crap and I cant stand it.

I long for the CCM of old when they weren't ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.

  • @indianajonesfan87 Did you catch the video on youtube of Keith when he was on a tv show when he was young. He was an great song writer and musician at a very young age ... but then became an amazing song writer and musician when he meant the Lord Jesus Christ. I love Keith Greens work too. Phil Keaggy is amazing and we are blessed to be able to continue to listen to them.

  • One of the best things about about Phil aside from his unnatural playing ability HA, is that he is probably one of the most humble individuals on the planet. And that shines through his music he truly is a Godly man who doesn't think to highly of himself.

I am so blessed by his music. This song is probably the most powerful songs U have ever heard, it means so much to me because I think of my mother and all the rest waiting for me when I get Home.

Thank you so much Phil, see you in Nov.

  • What does being "Blessed" mean ?

  • bringing happiness and thankfulness

it means that his music touches me and encourages me

  • Its sad to read these anti-Christian comments. I mean, good Lord, if you listen to the majority of lyrics in mainstream music today it is total garbage! But, heaven forbid, if you hear an extremely talented musician who ACTUALLY BELIEVES IN GOD, oh man, then RUN AWAY!!! Pathetic.

Isaiah 5:20 (New International Version) 20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil

  • @BrianEckes - Agreed 110 percent.

  • @BrianEckes My friend, sad is in the heart of the beholder. It's only sad for that person. Today you and I have daylight. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Don't you think Jesus knew most would seek to not just slander but even to kill him? Yet he sought to pass the light to you. Stay with him okay?

  • @BrianEckes right on man!

  • @BrianEckes These are the ones who need our prayers the most. It is very sad. Pray that The Truth will be revealed to them to the extent they cannot-will not deny it. Jesus is Lord of all. I pray for all those who do not know Him and have accepted them as their one and only Saviour; their first~last~best~only hope.

  • @Delashotts

Amen brother. Prayer is so under-used, even I can't say that I pray as much as I should. But prayer is AMAZING and so special. What other 'god' or human would tell us to pray for our enemies as well as others in general? Only the God of the Bible truly understands our needs. Truly amazing Grace indeed.

  • @BrianEckes Very true. It's all about sex and getting high. What every happened to Frank Sinatra or Richard Rodgers?

  • @BrianEckes It's kind of like nobody has anything to say about the convicted rapists in the NFL, but if Tebow prays, it's an absolute outrage! They actually prove the words of the Bible true.

  • OH yeah. Love Phils Music. What a day it will be....

  • This is from How the West Was One . . . an awesome concert from back in the 70s with 2nd Chapter of Acts, A Band Called David, Phil Keaggy . . . loved that album!!! Miss that album!!! Must pick it up again . . . Phil's guitar jamming on this song is just epic!! So clean and passionate! Dig it!!

  • this song brings tears to my eyes, especially this version.

  • the first Phil Keaggy song i heard, now a big fan

  • "How the West was One" is a great compilation and Keaggy is incomparable.

  • I recognize this as a track from How the West Was One. Second chapter of Acts BG vocals. Well worth seeking out! I've been looking for some Michael Omartian from the same period. White Horse/Adam Again and Seasons of the Soul on which Mr Keaggy played. The title track for White Horse is awesome! Thanks for the memories!

  • This album pictured above is one of the best albums of all time...truly a masterpiece

  • Can't tell you how much this album meant to me when I first got saved. Do you have a copy I can borrow?

  • @otherworld11 Ok, you can Borrow the album, BUT MAKE SURE YOU GIVE THE ALBUM BACK !!! GOT IT ???

  • rapidshare, isohunt, thepiratebay.....

    to name a few

  • I remember this song in ahhhh, 1974ish? or 1975ish? I am proud of the fact he is from Youngstown and has such talent that Eric Clapton has great respect for his guitar talent...there is nobody like HIM! This was one of Phil's Christian recordings and now soooooooooo many more! Thanks, Phil!
