  • I understand this since it is adressing some of my own experiences. Thanks!

  • So if we are thinking no its not safe to think that wonderful thought that thatcomes reality. But if we think the thought I am beautiful we will become that and still become that in a more expansive way?

What if we were at one point negative and I dont know a vampire and then we want to become pure goodness can that be done..with thoughts that make us feel good. versus thoughts that bring fear and darkness???

I think i got it maybe I just want a little reassurance

  • If you watch the 'Be Unclutched Part 1 and 2' series here on youtube, it will go much deeper into this spiritual practice that Swamiji is expressing. He is talking about unclutching from the thoughts/fear and greed.

    Nithyanandam

  • Great Message....Swamiji is just trying to explain about "not aking life so seriously"...it is a technique to overcome fear and unwanted thoughts that intrude your innerspace for a while...Nithyanandam

  • sorry, but the message is little confusing...

just staying quiet &drinking coffee is just lackadaisical attitude.... won't solve any practical real life problems at hand! i thnk what swami really means is that we shd think about how to resolve the problem & take practical steps to solve it without expecting any fruits......that would be in line with karma yoga. We shd not get bogged down by the problem itself but rather focus on thinking abt how to solve that problem and then act on it.

I think he is hinting at everything shall pass. Do not think he is talking about the karma here.Understanding that everything is constantly changing should help you drop your worries, greed, anxiety, pain, pleasure, struggle. Thats what he ment when he mentioned that a simple new thought of having a cup of coffee wd be strong enough to replace the previous thought of fear of death.

  • Dear me2super,

I understand and appreciate your pt of view.

I would like to share with you what I understand about Swamiji's teachings in this video and how they are connected to teachings of Karma Yoga in the Gita.

What Swamiji is saying is that the world is constantly changing in and around us, that is, everything is transient and we don't know what will actually happen.

  • 2

Therefore, getting obsessed about (mothering) any problem makes absolutely no sense ie constantly obsessing over any problem will not help -- it will only cause more and more meaningless stress and anxiety.

  • 3

So what we should do is to be proactive and make a conscious effort (do our duty/karma) to replace our nagging problematic thought with thoughts of action/solutions ie we should engage our minds with thoughts of action/solutions as opposed to the problematic thought itself (this is possible because at any given instant, we can have only one single thought preoccupying our mind).

  • 4

Finally, we should go ahead and implement these thoughts of action/solutions (do our 'karma'). The mind is now totally preoccupied with these new thoughts!

All this 'Karma' should be performed with proper knowledge that we have no control over the end results (ie with the knowledge that everything is constantly changing and we don't know what will actually happen.

  • perhaps I need to clarify myself here: I mean to say :

"So what we should do is to be proactive and make a conscious effort (do our duty/karma) to replace our nagging problematic thought with thoughts of action/solutions (TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM)ie we should engage our minds with thoughts of action/solutions (TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM) as opposed to the problematic thought itself

  • @ soproud2behindu

this is also my understanding- We shd not get bogged down by the problem itself

rather focus on thinking abt how to solve that problem &then go ahead &act on it. yup, i agree...lackadaisical attitude won't solve anything.....get proactive & think abt solutions to problem and how to solve it rather than getting bogged down by problem itself.

  • soproud2behindu

one of the comments abt obsession was right . But, then I was not able to know how did you branch out into karma//solutions? I totally agree with the theory of karma but I feel that you extended it into something like -solving the problem by making concious effort to engage into action thoughts, and the advice that v shd ve action thoughts whatever that means-and ve no control over the results which was not the core to what swamiji intended to convey in this clip

  • Peace...Kuja

Your questions are good. Don't let ANYONE satisfy your curiosity. Find out for yourself what ultimate truth, enlightenment and God is.

    Only you can do that.

    Bless

  • what exactly is enlightenment?

  • enlightenment as I understand is realization of the ultimate truth and reaching the state where the person is in union with god.

  • what is the ultimate truth? And what is God?

  • Part1:

For both the above questions nobody has right answer or explanation in this Planet. Doesn't this make you surprise and interesting? Also we know that we didn't created us(ourselves). We know we are existing. We don't know how we are before 100 years (also after next 100 years. We can measure time but do we know what happened before 100000000.... years?

Once you undertand these are all not going to be anwserd from externally, then you will try to find something by ourself...

  • Part2:

As per my knowledge those people are mentioning a state as "Enlightenment" in which you will no more (or no need to) have questions or answer. I can convey you this much only because i am also don't know what is Enlightenment.

  • This Is Beautiful

  • Post one more "..." spacing to push my messages and and you will be reborn as a dog. Looks like you're already one. :-)

  • Why are you spacing out and pushing my messages down with "..." and white space? Are you an agent of this Swami trying to sell DVDs, or you were sent by the Chinese communists to police YouTube?

  • Not sure about greatness - this Swami also sits on a golden throne like Osho! BTW, the beauty of Bhagavad-gita is that it is practically applicable in every way of life. BTW, pathless inaction does not lead to Moksha, neither does the negative philosophy of "What are you going to change..." - it will create more spineless zombies in all walks of life. IMHO, that is not the philosophy of Vedas or Bhagavad-gita.

  • It is because of ridiculous ideas like this that India has become such an idiotic pacifist nation which appeases brutal genocidal Chinese Maoists and kicks the monks & nuns of Tibet. Bhagavad-gita is better. Thumbing noses has led to loss of Tibet, Aksai Chin, now Arunachal with more to come in the future. Of the gods and demons that partnered churning the ocean for amrita, the demons were ignorant, greedy, pacifist, and evil.

  • Are this Swami's Sutras available in Chinese? Or maybe we should export him to China for a while!

  • "leave me alone"? That everyone knows! Do you have anything interesting to say? :) Instead of liztening to this and that Swami, it is better to just read the Bhagavad-gita cover-to-cover.

  • Very powerful satsang. Thank you very much.

    Om Namah Shivai!

  • It is because of ridiculous ideas like this that India has become such an idiotic pacifist nation which appeases brutal genocidal Chinese Maoists and kicks the monks & nuns of Tibet. Bhagavad-gita is better. Krishna says clearly - Use your intelligence to discriminate between good action, bad action, and inaction. Inaction can often be a bad action in the name of "not trying to change anything". Thumbing noses has led to loss of Tibet, Aksai Chin, now Arunachal with more to come in the future.

  • Before you make such strong comments, please understand what the context is.

You may want to listen to this again.

    With best wishes

  • that kind of thinking would only lead to more wars.

  • Why should it lead to war? Did Mahatma Gandhi wage a war on the Brits for freedom? Did he succeed? Anything is possible if the people of world are truly awakened and speak up with one voice. That said, appeasing demonic forces is as good as partnering with them. If evil remains persistent, only then war is the last option. Did Krishna ask Arjuna to fight the war of righteousness, or surrender to evil? Anyone can dress up like a monk but Karma Yoga is the most important in our Kali Yuga age.

  • Your comments shows you just attracted by Bhagwat Gita and not matured to close the book(physical book). I am sure, you will have your own questions after some time and understand Gita and the topic spoken here has direct relationships. Atleast check yourself if you have strong motivation towards understanding subjects that pointed in Gita.
