@lesiegelad I think it was more of a thing where they grew up, matured and just kinda changed. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that Ryan said it was like the transition from high-school to college. They (or Ryan at least) changed, and so did their music.

I don't actually know though, but they do strike me as people who make music because of their love for music, as opposed to the number of fans and stuff. That's just my opinion though.

It's kind of early Beatles meets early Beach Boys, before both of them went all trippy.

It's got that catchy, 60's bubblegum kick to it, but the lyrics hide a little more complexity to the song. It's a cool concept, but it will probably get old if they do it again. Sounds kind of like a side project band.
