Maybe instead of being considered mess ups or messages, consider this, in our dreams our brain only maintains massive or crucial details, if there is a pattern on a wall, or a time on a clock, simply looking away could easily change the view of it, so in example with the mirror on the car, we may realize it was moved, but due to it's unimportant role in the overall base of the story, it was simply moved back in place when our brain dropped that detail, and realized that wasn't exactly natural,
