  • To bad Eddie is batshit crazy.

  • shit i will still take him over everybody else!!!!!!

  • give me eddie in his prime over randy jimmy joe or anyone for that matter!!!!

  • He plays and looks like Death warmed over here. :(

  • ele ta velho eim, mas msm assim ainda continua tocando d+

  • i wander is wolfgang really understands how good hes father can play guitar. he is pretty lucky to have a god as a dad. The God Of Guitar!

  • 6:57

  • ozzy osbourne, the who, led zeppelin and van halen did the gong? who else?

  • Would everyone just shut the fuck up about Randy or any other guitarists you ignorant unappreciative tards. Randy and others were great guitarists, and so is Eddie. Just enjoy the video. This video wasnt posted so you people coulld talk shit about guitarists you think arnt as good as EVH.

    Shut up

    Watch the video

    Nuf said.

  • would like to get a few shows from you. looking for best VH shows you might hv in terms of quality.....let me know. shoot me a msg!

  • EDDIE IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 6:00 min was the best !!! Thats just mind blowing how anybody can do that!

  • @headmen1 thats acctually the easiest part in the solo

  • Hey, they were all great guitarist and those that are still with us i hope they keep rocking on. Now, someone hand me a beer.

  • Lock yourself in a room w/your guitar, amp, a pound of weed and play your pentatonic scales until your fingers bleed, then do it again and again for similar results or better. Should take about a year.

  • Seriuosly this is annoying not imppresive,no substance and down right self absored!!

  • SRV was great but he was a bit of a one trick pony. That said,I saw him open for Dire Straits in '84 and he was amazing.

NOW let's discuss the Vaiwashingdishes comment McDonalds has dishes? What person in their right mind thinks playing for Zappa is an under achievement

BTW this is the most boring load of masturbation I've heard in a long time

Like almost all of his solos it is just LOOK WHAT I CAN DO with little regard for the song or melodybut I would give my left nut to be able to do it!

  • hello there are people better than randy like eddie van halen steve vai and jimmy page

  • IMO, there is only one person that plays in the same hemisphere as Eddie, and that is SRV!

If it weren't for Frank Zappa and David Lee Roth, Steve Vai would be washing dishes at the local McDonalds

  • @MeanStreet1981 crap talent will out. why do you think one of the most demanding musician in modern music "frank zappa" hired him ?

  • @lilrocker888

With all due respect, I think comparing Vai to Halen to Rhoads is a never ending argument.....all 3 are killer and un touchable.

And as much as I like J Page as a producer and writer of riffs.....he is nowhere near the caliber of the other 3 guys mentioned....He had a huge influence for sure, but was way way sloppy and much less revoltuionary in his style.

  • LOLz at all these people trying to shit talk the godfathers of modern guitar playing. none of the people shit talking have any videos of themselves playing guitar. therefore their opinion is irrelevant, thus by my same logic as is mine. therefore creating a fallacy that can be worked and reworked into an infinite paradox spanning neither time nor space?

  • And this my friends is why everybody considers Eddie the best in the world Cuz he is!

  • Where do you assclowns come up with these so called awesome axemen? Nobodys ever heard of em, cuz nobody gives a fuck about them. Not only is Ed the man on guitar, he writes alot of good tunes. Randy rhoads, gimme a fucking break, what a horrible tone that dude had, and what songs did he write? Exactly, go fuck yourself.

  • Wow. You're an idiot. Rhoads was miles ahead of EVH as a musician.

  • if your speaking as technical music and musical architecture. Eddie however nearly doubled him on creativity, ingenuity, and passion for the music.

  • I'm sorry, but you are horribly mistaken. Randy Rhoads had great tone, and he wrote basically all of the guitar parts to that of Ozzy's songs, EVERY SINGLE ONE. Give me a fucking break, know your guitarists lest you down them.

  • Eddie plays fast, makes rythm with weird sounds and does alot of rambling on. Randy Rhoads was far better, he had great tone and direction, very disciplined picking technique, and great knowledge of music theory. You are an idiot to come on here and say stuff like that , you don't know what your talking about , and when someone calls you on it , all you can say is go fuck yourself, which is childish, how old are you 10 maybe ?

  • @rlp70gto1

Good points...i personally like EVH better just cuz of the guts he puts into those first few VH records.

But I agree, RR was probably a more studied musician and planned stuff out better.

Eddie just had it in him and went haywire....the VH thing from 78-84 or so.....

I just like Eddie's creations and sound better, and the first 4 VH records more than I like the OZ records.

And...had Randy lived he would have become a masterful classical guitarist who Eddie would have rqsted lessons!

  • er lets see : crazy train, mr crowley, steal away the night, revalation mother earth, diary of a madman, goodbye to romance, to name a few.. as well as being credited by pretty much EVERY rock and metal guitarist as an inspiration. UR right about one thing however eddie is an amazing guitarist, but if randy had not died in 1982 he would be easily a match with eddie as he was back in the day

  • Comment removed

  • @Lucicsux , who fucking cares. they were both great guitar players and had very differnt styles. Eddie is more of a blues rock guy and randy was a heavy metal classical dude. As far as playing wise i find rhoads stuff more intelligent and more well thought out than eddie. I personally find randys stuff more technically challenging.

  • dont talk shit about randy rhoads. he was an amazing guitar player, much better than u or probably any of us ever will be

  • Eddie is a great guitarist !!

  • Ok well ALL the other guitarist can't copy his techniques

Andy Wood couldn't do a couple of his riffs... as good as he is he just couldn't.

No other guitarist has such a creative mind as Eddie does

  • @chez117

Who is Andy Wood? Not being sarcastic.....Just never heard of him. Is Wood Good ? :)

  • @gtrrobster lol some guitarist haha he is ok.. not really good.. he can "Shred" but doesnt have that much of a creative mind as our Kind Edward! :D Ciao!

     -Chez

  • MAB may be able to play at almost lightning speeds but mostly he sounds like shit because of his SLOPPINESS but this solo by eddie is pretty terrible i will admit and he is my favorite guitarist

  • He's not sloppy, he just sounds like a robot playing guitar.

  • The master of tapping!! Nobody taps with such emotion and conviction as this guy does!!We are so goddamn lucky to have him alive in our generation!!

  • The greatest. I pray that he does his best to stay clean.

  • Oh Dear,so sad,how the mighty have fallen, I just hope this gig was just a bad night for him??

  • A bad night for him??? Dude, you have no clue do you? I went to this show that night at the Wachovia...it was Awesome.

Ive been seeing VH in concert since 1980 and he only gets better and better with age.

You only wish you could play a fraction as good as he can.

  • Mate, I am in no way slagging the guy off!!!I first seen VH in this country in 84 and a few times since.he in my opinion is a god!! there is only one that comes even close.Satch..Im just saying with all the shit hes put his self through as taken its tole!!I've been playing for 32 years ,and yes I wish I had half his talent!!..Recpect from Wales!!

  • i now know that the #4 on the guitar means that was his 4th prototype of his new evh wolfgang.thats why it took so long for them to come out.He was road testing them

  • somebody get this guy a steak

  • he seems to be playing more psychedelic. very cool stuff actually...

  • thats awsome!!!

  • nice,..

  • holy shit, eddie is getting old... he looks so skiny... lol

  • i think i was at this show

  • The Original line up BACK IN TACT! They could never be topped to begin with.

  • Eddie Van Halen is going bald. Well, isn't that just great. The only old rock star with his own hair is Paul McCartney.

  • Are you high? Malmsteen influenced as many if not more people than EVH. There is no doubt about this. Yngwie invented Bach and Roll.I Like EVH but he and Yngwie are two seperate players and Malmsteen's Technique is a thousand times better than EVH

  • Malmsteen wasn't more innovative than EVH, but he was very innovative. Many people seem to forget that much of the tapping stuff Eddie does IS classical. Plus, I've heard Malmsteen rip off cathedral with his own delay piece. Also, I don't think Malmsteen's technique is ALOT better than Eddie's when Eddie was at his best. Yngwie knows more licks and runs because that is a great deal of what his songs are. But, the licks and runs that Ed does are equal, he is just more hesitant to shred constantly

  • That's simply not true. The average rock guitar player out there today almost certainly derives his influence from EVH, whether he knows it or not. On the other hand, most don't employ a tiresome assault of sweeps, arpeggios, and speed picking for hours on end. I like them both too, but to say that Malmsteen was more influential is ludicrous. He simply has never reached as many players as Van Halen has. Like Hendrix 20 years before him, his playing may not stand to the technical proficiency as

  • some of the latter day players, but without the pioneers, the latter day players would not exist. Is Malmsteen better than Hendrix, then? On some levels, yes - like Stevie Ray Vaughn, they both copped his technique and then developed it further on their own. Malmsteen will be the first to tell you how influenced he was by Jimi Hendrix, and that it's easier because we now have Hendrix to refer to. Much like Eddie V...Malmsteen will never be in that echelon of influence - period.

  • not randy rhoads

  • eddie could kill randy rhoads. how dare you even compare the two

  • wat hell nah he couldn't randy would walk all over eddie i like eddie dont get mwe wrong but if randy were still alive he would walk all over him but thats just my opion

  • i agree. randy rhoads was fucking amazing, and i say randy was better than eddie anyday

  • Um, I'm guessing you two have no clue who Paul Masvidal or Chuck Schuldiner is?

  • no ive never heard of chuck schuldiner is.. the father of death metal. death and control denied.......nope who the hell is he?

  • true, im infuenced by evh, but not his fuckeng taking drugs shit

  • I was at this concert :D

  • eddie is one of my favorite and hes great but i really dont like the eruption solo

  • are u crazy u hopelles dumb shit...

  • fuck u queer

  • @tylersexysir

Well said! Is that the name of a book you wrote?

  • I think that every guitarist must respect the guitar history.Thumbs up Eddie and thank you for the great gift of inspiration.

  • that was so kick ass!!!

  • i will always enjoy watching him play because he is still a fantastic muscician and always has been, sure age, cancer, and rehab have taken their toll on his playiing, but i dont mind his solos becoming more mellow than his previously unpredictable solos, his true ability shows in his songs, focus more on that than his solos

  • eddie is still great. hes stil 1 of the best. he will be one of the best known guitarists for what he did with vanhalen. his best solo "eruption" was incredible

  • Sorry but I don't hear much of a difference between this and his 2004 solos. He is still nowhere close to his prime. And he cannot still shred with the best of them at all. Malmsteen could destroy this, hell I could destroy this. But in the late 70's and early 80's nobody was better than Edward.

  • I guess you don't understand the value of impact. The guy revolutionized the way rock guitar was played. A lot of what you might try to destroy him with would be based on his influence either directly, or indirectly. We all had Eddie to refer to after 1977 - if you were a player on the circuit in 1976, you simply were crushed to smithereens by him. It's not about notes and playing - it's about the impact one has. Malmsteen is great, but he has no impact - he's a re-tread of ideas that were

  • introduced 300 years ago, only with more simplicity. I'm not saying you're wrong...you make valid points - but it's kind of like watching a 39 year old Gretzky or Jordan, and saying "I don't see what's so special about him."

  • Malmsteen had no influence?! Well, I can't argue with that logic. (sarcasm)

I am well aware of his impact and he is my overall favorite player but that doesn't excuse sloppy playing and his lack of new ideas. He cannot shred with malmsteen and gilbert and a whole host of others. That doesn't really make him a worse player just not as accomplished at one aspect. It isn't that big of a deal. Eddie doesn't even recognize himself as a shredder.

  • why does he not use his frankenstien?

  • ho does. at some of the concerts they did in 2007-2008 he switched between his frankenstien and some other wofgangs he has stashed away forever.

  • O ok,that pretty sweet. Tks for the answer :D. for the record I think Eddie can still shred with the best of em.

  • The King! The Master! The Innovator! The one and Only! Eddie Van Halen!

  • I was at the show on october 1st in philly and it was amazing. Van Halen = best band. Eddie Van Halen = best guitarist ever

  • true dat

  • Think about it people, the guy back in the day didn't have all these personal issues fucking up his creativity. When you have the support of your family(wife)a whole shitload of burdens can't bring you down. Wow! That sounded so wipped! Fuck it! He kicks ass!

  • Still going, Eddy. He may not make much more new material, but he still has the skills of a legend, and no one can fight me on that.

  • your right. and i dont think he will ever write again i read an article that segussted that musicians, when they get older, have a very hard time writing new material. i guess its just something that has to do with ageing

  • I think Edd has gotten on more in years. You gotta give him a break tho. He's had mouth cancer and face it, he's jus old now. He's slow now but still he's EDDIE VAN FUCKING HALEN

  • He needs to go back to wireless and get rid of that huge cable so he can run around more.

I wish next tour they would do an in the round show like Def leppard used to do! Tat would be really cool!

  • i agree with cucumbers !

  • Still plays it better than anyone who tries to copy him.

  • He beat cancer and he's geting older.Give the guy a break people.

  • Impressive, but.... like the others are saying, back in the day he would come up with new stuff. This i've heard how many times now? Still love ya Ed though.

  • can you put up mean street?

  • He was better back in the day.

Check out the 5150 live without a net vid.

  • Live Without a Net is an Excellent vid dude. IMO, it was his best playing to date. I wasn't nearly as impressed on the Right Here Right Now vid.

  • So was fucking Michael Jordan, you dumbass...

  • A musician should evolve and get BETTER as he gets older UNLIKE an athlete that has their skills diminish as they get old.

  • have you seen eds fingers he is being taken over by artherides (i know its spelled wrong)you idout. thats why hees slower then he used to be. thats what happens to a lot of guitarists. ed just played too much back in the day and he got the worst of it.

  • I'm not talking about speed or dexterity. I'm talking about new ideas, new techniques.

  • you use it or lose it

  • yea he isnt as good as he used to be but i wouldnt go as far as u did he is still my favorite. i think he is a little slower now but more acurate.

  • amazing

  • SWEEEEEEET! Could you email me this clip or give me a direct download link like you did for the other van halen one..
