  • WAtch Micheal Moore " Sicko" where it clearly shows how one can be denied

insurance even though you pay premiums

    wake up

    America

  • It's amazing how the Powers That Be successfully brainwashed the masses to be perfectly OK with a MASSIVE Corporate Welfare State for the wealthy only, waging phony war$ on all fronts, eliminating civil liberties, implementing a lucrative, fascist Police State infrastructure that serves to keep an eye on The Public - the *real* aim of the phony "war on(OF) terror" ... all the while convincing Americans that as all of this evil occurs, Universal Health Care is BAD, unrealistic, socialist, etc

  • BLOOD SUCKING GOP

  • løl_ÃnyöñË_wÂnNA_chÂt_wIth_mê_í_fèÉl_sÔ_lØNëlY_tØdáY~

  • DON'T LIKE OBAMA HEALTH CARE ? TRY GOP NO CARE !!!

  • Healthcare? more like DEATHcare and want to tell you tea idiots and health stooges

Go suck your own competition dry and see how the real world works

Monopoly isn't a autobiography and you supporters of insurance i hope you get denied a plot in any national cemetery because you'd cause a zombie outbreak from all the rage left from several victims

Policies have a way of releasing it's true form on the internet, any American citizen with time and not listening to beck and friends

  • Need to increase your website sales? The GAS AFFILIATE SYSTEM, the most powerful promoting tool out there,It is the easiest to install for beginners and ppl with no programming knowledge,GAS-AFFILIATEdotCOM is where it's at.

  • Sickening. That's really all I can say...

  • They won't pay for my antiviral...I have insurance for years. It costs me $800 out of pocket just for that drug. Once they don't make a profit, they want you to die.

  • I can't believe the teabaggers are protesting against a bill that would prevent insurance companies from abusing policyholders. Are the teabaggers masochistic? Is their self esteem really that low that they love being abused and overcharged by greedy insurance companies, only to be denied care for the most frivolous reasons? I can't believe politicians are actually taking these people seriously!

  • @lago4 nah, they just like getting teabagged. Foldgers in your mouth

  • Did you know Wellpoint/BCBS is now offering an "incentive" to their members !! If your child has been discharged from an inpatient mental health facility AND if you can get them an outpatient f/u with an outpatient mental health provider within 7 days.. you can get a $20 Wal-Mart gift card !! Ok, force my kid out of an environment he surely needs and woo me with a Wal-mart gift card. I can't believe this in happening !!!! Very sad ..and scary as well !!!

  • @mcgkcc Yeah, but just think of all the cool shit you can buy with a Wal-Mart giftcard! The possibilities are endless.

  • @SexSteakSoda Yeah, in our case..our son wanted a machete..to cut up people with..and it's less than $20 at Wal-Mart. He showed it to me in the store !!! However, we've never seen our giftcard yet anyway !!!!..but he still wants the Wal-Mart machete. CRAZY !! SCARY!!!

  • For profit business has no business being in the healthcare business - it is a direct conflict of interest - it is disgusting what we allow in this country - where in the hell is Obama's original promise - where????

  • This man should feel bad about making money by helping a company deny healthcare for sick people. He put money above other humans.

  • Blue Cross Anthem...failed to fool the public this time around! These dirty bastards need to be hung with piano wire! ....This company is running scared of health care reform! and robbing us of everything until health reform comes to the rescue. Stockholders need to be imprisoned for a minimum of 50 years with no

medical care should they become sick while in prison! ....I never dreamed in all my years on earth that humans could be so heartless for people who become sick !

  • Call me ignorant or whatever you want...but I don't know what SOCIALISM means. All I know is that I'm an average American who makes $45,000 a year and probably bring home around $36,000 after taxes. And each month, I pay $870 for health insurance, $210 for car insurance, $150 for life insurance, $90 for flood insurance and $160 for home ins.

And if I have any health problem, I have to pay 20% of the bill plus my deduct. IF that doesn't lead to bankruptcy, I don't know what else will? HELP!

  • @iforgotmyscreenname1 So true, matter of fact we will probably have to file bankruptcy next month !!! Health care increasing expenses ( mostly premiums, deductibles, and co-pays ) have been the main reason we are in this boat, over the past 4-5 years !!!!

  • What the fucks wrong with socialism then.

  • @LinLao Americans actually like some Socialism: Fire departments (read about the horrors when fire departments were privately run), Police, agencies that guarantee safe food and medicine, Social Security, and Medicare, which even Republicans dare not attempt to dismantle now. Expanding Medicare to all to include younger healthier members would be a natural avenue to explore. The program already exists & the reasons Insurance companies gave for hikes are younger members are dropping coverage.

  • Seems ironic. Health care premiums for the past years have risen to a rate of 10-12% per year out pacing inflation rate of 3 plus percent. Since Obama took office, health care premiums jumped across the board to a 30% plus increase last year. Now insurance companies are planning to do the same this year.

  • Are you saying the health care professionals who say the system needs to change are socialists. They are on the front lines, they see the carnage from people dealing with their health ins. co. Perhaps they understand that health care reform has to happen. That currently more than 17% of our GDP spent on health care is too much. People are standing up. Watch the people who want the health care system to change march today across the nation. No longer will people be slaves to their health ins co.

  • We are responsible. The purpose for this film was not to just get my story out, it was to help other people as they struggle against health care bills. The ins co are now complaining too many healthy people are dropping their policies. So they have to raise rates. And yet, raising their rates is forcing people to drop their ins. The fact is that health care should not depend on a money-driven system. This idea is costing us as a nation.

  • Currently, our choice for health ins is one company. I am happy you have so many choices, because many people do not. Especially when the smallest health care problem labels people as uninsurable. Millions of people are being effected by the health care system. It costs us more for people not to be treated. What happens when the cost of doing business with health ins companies increases the GDP spent on health care services more than it already has. When there is no money for other services.

  • You say that it is my problem when in fact it is thousands of peoples' problems in particular and millions generally. You do not understand and it is some fallacy to come on here and pretend you do.

If you want a nation of no regulation, go live there. Deregulation of the banks is what led us to the financial crisis we have now. Their greed set us up for a financial collapse. The increase in health ins. premiums contributed to the American auto companies' problems.

  • We have super high medical bills to pay. We pay them all. We don't have the super cable package. What can you say about the bankruptcy rate and medical bills? Foreclosures? Civil law suit? How? We don't have the money. Do you have that kind of money? Maybe that is why you are not worried about the current health care system. One of Anthem/BC's top execs is a lawyer and a medical doctor. They know they are laying waste to peoples' lives. They do not care one iota.

  • Listen - I didn't say the world was a perfect place. What I'm telling you is that everyone in life has problems. These are YOUR specific set of problems that YOU need to deal with. AN ENTIRE NATION does not need to sacrifice their freedom to help you. You are beating the wrong drum about problems. I have bee dirt poor, seen unbelievalbe wealth, only to lose every penny of it due to corruption. I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR TO SEE WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE.

  • @backpain13 -

I've been screwed by insurance companies and banks. I file a lawsuit against them. Not all lawyers are expensive. AGAIN - It is not an ENTIRE NATION'S JOB TO FIGURE OUT THE SOLUTIONS TO YOUR PROBLEMS. If you have a good case, a lawyer will take it pro bono. Did the thought ever occur to you that you just don't have that great of a case?? Who knows. Listen to me - People get killed every day...people lose their jobs, get raped, robbed, murdered and degraded.

  • If a CRIME was committed, you need to get your but down to the DA's office and file a Criminal Complaint. If you are getting bad service, you need to FIRE them and hire someone else.

If you had over 900 choices for Health Insurance, you could have picked from a much larger and more comptetitive group of suppliers. Imagine if you only had a few Grocery stores in your state. There would be long lines, high prices and fraud. Competition keeps everyone honest. The Medicare act is to blame

  • I get sick of that socialist crap. I am not a socialist. I want people to be healthy. That is now a crime? I know people who own their own businesses have problems with regulations and taxes. How would you feel if you had a cancer diagnosis and was then told their is a treatment but ins won't pay for it? This is the reality. Would you undergo a surgery that only, for ex. has a 40-50% chance of success, while there is one that is at 80-90%? We have been cutting expenses all over the place.

  • @backpain13 -

Whether you like it or not, the views you hold are from the SOCIALIST DOCTRINE. If you practice catholic views, people will call you catholic. If you practice socialism, then you will be called a SOCIALIST.

The main premise in socialism is that all the power for decisions for the Collective rests with the CENTRAL government and it's bureaucrats....that the Central government has the right to redistribute the wealth in a manner that is best for society. That's Socialism

  • You really don't get the point: We're paying more for people who don't get preventive care, that don't get care in time. If you had some kind of health problem, like severe heart disease or cancer, you could be told by your ins co that they will not pay for your care. It happens all the time. For profit health care is not the way health ins should work. How the heck can people afford to sue the health ins co? Don't you understand, you need around 45K or more to do that. This is a fact.

  • People often do not get medical care because they don't want to spend the money. They wait, and then it becomes a bigger problem. You sound like you are from the teaparty camp. Selling ins across state lines will not cure the hit to the GDP which is happening in this country. Costs are not going down, where do you get that idea? The threat of paying too much for individual health ins is driving people to drop their insurance or opt for a higher deductible, get less care. How's this good for US?

  • How do you know there are not 46 million uninsured or have no medical care? Actually, I think the number is much higher. Have you considered the number of homeless there are? People who have lost their job and cannot afford Cobra? We were on Cobra a few times, more than a thousand dollars each month, with no money coming in that is difficult to pay each month. Jobs are not that available, if you have looked around.

I am not the exception, I am not the "extreme" case. I am the norm. .

  • From today's paper (2-23-10), Business section :

California's Insurance regulator said Monday that his office has found more than 700 violations by the state's largest for-profit health insurer, including late payment of claims, giving misleading information to consumers and failing to cooperate with regulators. Anthem Blue Cross faces a maximum $10,000 penalty for each violation, Ins. Commissioner Steve Poizner said. His office said the violations occurred from 2006 to 2009.

  • @backpain13 -

I don't know about those cases. What I DO know, from owning a business, is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get through a single day without breaking numerous laws. As I type this memo, there are over ONE MILLION Laws that apply to business.

It's set up that way. Each individual person should file a civil case. This is not the role of government. Furthermore, if they opened competition across state lines, CA residents would have over 900 options. That's why homeowners is so cheap

  • Free, what company do you own/work for? Wouldn't be health ins. co? It is not the few, it is thousands of people. Every person I speak to has a problem w/ their private health ins co. FYI, under group ins plan, nearly impossible to sue the ins co. If I had the $ to sue, I would just pay for surgery again. You've a personal problem--you're not living in reality anymore. You sound like a troll. Only spewing out the words of the money-sucking health ins. company. Look at Mara and hear the truth.

  • @backpain13 -

I never said the system isn't perfect. I'm making the following concise points.

    1. There are not 46 Million American Citizens without Health care or insurance.

That is a manufactured number. MOST of the uninsured have made irresponsible CHOICES that have led them to be uninsured.

    2. It is not the role of Government, in a free society, to solve problems. That's up to the individual. Governments that provide health insurance are Socialist and Communist entitites.

  • Socialism always fails....hence the reason why our constitution prohibits any form of it.

    3. Health Insurance is a product, not a right. Just like food, shelter, chlothing....these are things people need to provide for themselves. MASSIVE government programs, at every level, already provide a safety net.

    4. By REMOVING the massive government interference in the medical system, we would see prices for medical care plumet. They are high because government has created imbalances by....(cont)

  • ...by interfering in the Free Market. Medicare and Medicaid are examples of government causing massive distortions.

Those programs, as they currently exist, are socialist programs that have bankrupted this nation. Unfunded Liabilities are at 107 TRILLION dollars. This is an amount that can never be paid. The solution to the few people (less than 20% of the population) who aren't happy with their insurance is to direct market forces....just like any other service or good.

  • The Market solutions are simple:

    1. Open insurance across state lines.

    2. Remove the attachment of insurance to a worker's job by removing the tax incentive for the employee. Benefits are not taxed as income. They should be.

    3. Tort Reform

    4. create a plan to phase out medicare. It is bankrupt and has been the source of more fraud and waste than every other government program in the history of the world.

    5. Teach Americans the concept of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

  • Finally -

I have purchased my own health insurance my entire life. My Major medical was about 90 buck per month. For 280 a month I have Blue Shield. It took me 15 minutes to get it.

Many people just refuse to get insurance until they have problem. Then it's too late.

Problems with insurance companies refusing to pay are PRIVATE matters that can be taken up in court between the company and the individual. That's why we have a court system

  • I'm so glad we've got the NHS in the UK no matter how flawed it is.

  • If insurances are too expensive and they're not doing no real thing for us, we should just quit buying them and re-organize a new service for ourselves, OK? Human invents new tools all the time. Don't stuck by what they impose on us because of lobby industry. Anything can be tried including just copying what's useful for us, change it and it belongs to us. It's how Jews, Japanese and Chinese created their economy. We all can bribe, can't we? It's how so-called free-market started.

  • They refused life saving treatment for my husband, said it was experimental and investigational so denied . Now we have an 800 deductible and a 200 drug deductible. I took my husband off the bloodsucking drug mail order program and got free drugs from his doc and other low cost drug programs.

  • I have NEVER had a problem getting my health insurance company to pay ANY bills. NEVER.

I own 3 companies... NO PROBLEMS in 30 years.

I don't know a SINGLE person who has EVER had a problem.

Sounds to me like you need to get a lawyer and file suit. If YOUR case is correct, the judge and jury will find in your favor. If you are in the wrong they will find in the favor of the company. WE DON'T FUCK UP AN ENTIRE COUNTRY TO DEAL WITH THE PERSONAL PROBLEMS OF A FEW.

    COMPRENDO??

  • A few ??-can't wait until you and yours get sick and die - you must be a Wellpoint flunky big time. - I'd take your sick asses to court if you gave me a living wage.

  • I run a production company. The People of the United States are not responsible for your problem. Like I said. Take your matter in front of a court and let's see what the court decides......based on facts and not emotions.

  • We are ALL sorry to hear about your problem. Life is not always fair.

We don't change an entire country to suit a few extreme cases. You should take your case to a judge and allow a court to decide if you were unfairly treated.

  • This video is unfair.

The company believes it needs a highly paid CEO and lobbyists to fight to maintain its 3% profit. What do you want, for it to make no profit? Then it would go out of business.

Effective CEOs are not cheap, and the market determines their compensation according to supply and demand. Is the government supposed to impose price controls on CEO salaries? How Soviet.

The $2.5 billion 2009 profit misleads, as it resulted from the sale of assets, not from premiums.

  • Expensive kings and empires need their subjects to sacrifice. Americans are no subjects to anybody, why should we stuck with expensive CEOes? When someone in us are desperately in need for what most of us already paid for, why can't we let those people need those treatments get the help. Repeat, it's been paid but those CEOes just want money for their luxury retirement or toys for fun only. If they don't like the job they should quit, we have many capable people who understand people in need.

  • @beancube2010 -

Kings are different than CEOs. Kings rule by law. CEOs run private businesses that you can choose NOT to do business with. As a matter of fact, YOU sound like you would be an EXCELLENT CEO.

Why don't you start an insurance company and run it the way you would like??

Obviously, you think it is easy.

CEOs don't NEED your permission to make 50% profit. It's just none of your business. That buisness model is called

    COMMUNISM........

Do you want to be a marxist??

  • This video is NOT a piece of crap. This video is the truth. It costs well over a $1,000 a month for insurance for us. It is not illegal to make money, however, it is illegal to deceive and lie about your product. The health ins companies are greedy just like the banks were. The private ins business is not working. Doctors should have some control of the treatment they want to use. Their hands are tied by the ins companies. This has to change. People are dying. Ins co are the real death panels.

  • find a cheaper policy.

    Cut other expenses.

How much do you pay per month for cable TV, Cell phones, internet and other luxury items??

  • 3. Remove all caps on the issuance of medical licesnces. If you pass the test, you should be able to open a practice.

    4. Remove all tax benefits from companies offering insurance. Insurance should not be tied to a job.

    5. tort reform

    6. Offer tax deduction on personal 1040 for having AT LEAST catastrophic insurance.

    7. People misuse insurance. Insurance is meant to protect you from catastrophic financial loss, not to provide you with a FREE trip to the doctor if you catch cold.

  • No, all your craps make bribery in Washington 10X profitable. I prefer a single payer system so it can be monitored by everybody and everybody sees the whole operation related to himself. We all bribe, not just between govt and lobbyists, if Washington takes bribes. We have to get on or under their tables. This is a dark age for America politics, I don't pretend righteousness and everybody should know about them.

  • You can prefer a single payer system, or POLICE roadblocks on every corner OR 100% taxation of the "Wealthy"

Thankfully, we have a Constitution, based on REASON and not FEMALE EMOTION.

    This is hysteria.

People are dying in the streets.

Sorry lady. I don't see it.

and I know many, many many people.

    NOBODY sees it like you.

HENCE, 30-40 MILLION tea party members who are about to get this country set back to pre FDR chaos.

    Goodbye 2008, Hello 1908

  • one more thing.

Since you don't know what a Libertarian is....

    We are Republicans ON STEROIDS.

  • Solutions to make the health insurance industry work:

    1. Open up competition across state lines and allow international insurers to participate.

    2. END MEDICARE and SOCIAL SECURITY. Together, they have accrued 107 TRILLION DOLLARS OF UNFUNDED LIABILITIES. IF YOU ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 50, YOU WILL NEVER GET THESE BENEFITS ANYWAY. Like most social welfare programs, they are PONZI schemes. They FORCE the demand for healthcare higher and higher.

    (cont.)

  • All this craps are copied from the Republicans. Blaming users are admins' tricks. I do it all the time even I know where the system problem are.

  • By the way....

    I'm not a repulican.

    I'm a Libertarian.

If you thought republicans were bad...you haven't seen anything.

We will restore the values fought for by the revolution in 1776.....

  • @beancube2010 -

    I'm not a republican....so what "trick" am I using??

Class - beancube is what we call an uneducated socialist. I can guarantee you that beancube hasn't read the constitution and doesn't understand what it means.

  • quote from the movie:

"I don't see why anyone needs to make 9 million dollars per year."

According to the rule of law, ITS NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS HOW MUCH ANYONE MAKES. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR OWN LIFE AND MAYBE YOU WON'T BE IN SUCH BAD SHAPE.

I have been able to find Catastrophic insurance as low as 47.00 per month. This video is a pile of CRAP.

  • I provide the top blue cross option for my employees. It's 270.00 per month including prescription drugs. This video is the typical manipulation.....Poor people are suffering and the rich corporations are greedy. Class warfare.

LISTEN - YOU need to take care of YOUR OWN business. THANK GOD the Tea Party Movement is saving us from the WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION, which is Government involvement in the health care system.

It is NOBODY's business what a company does and how much they earn.

  • It's just a matter of time before the whole US health care system collapses under its own incompetent management and greed. We need a public option now because the insurance companies collapse will take down doctors, hospitals, and even whole states. You don't want to be in the way when this humpty Dumpty falls.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

All the king's horses and all the king's men

    Couldn't put Humpty together again

Good riddance to the insurance companies.

  • @rcshouldis -

Health care COMPANIES are not greedy and they only problem is massive government interference. All medical procedures NOT covered by the thousands of pages of legislation are falling in price. Just like Computers and Cell phones, the Free market drives these procedures lower in cost and higher in quality. We already have a public Option. It's Called Medicare and it is the SINGLE LARGEST ECONOMIC FAILURE IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND.

  • Thank GOD for the protesters who have safe guarded my freedom from Socialist thinking.

  • If you think things will be better from the ObamaCare, you're sorely mistaken. Let's say you're an insurance company who charges $100 a month and you insure 100 people. Then one of your members gets a 50,000 operation (not an unlikely price for a serious operation.) How do you make money with admin costs, etc.? Remember, WellPoint is a business just like any other...and what is the point of a business? (to make enough money to cover costs and continue to operate.

  • geezj18,

Can u tell me which health insurance company charges $100 a month, please? Because I would love to sign up with them.

As far as I know, I pay $870 a month for health insurance thru Blue Cross (one of the largest health insurance co that covers millions of ppl). Please stop making up numbers if u don't know the truth. U probably don't even have health insurance, huh? I bet u if u have health insurance, u wouldn't say..."it's only $100 a month."

  • Revolution is what you need People

    BURN DOWN THE INSURANCE COMPANIES

THEY SHOULD KNOW THAT PEOPLE ARE ANGRY AND SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE...

PS Peace protest doesn't scare them at all.

    Try it Our way...

  • Class - This is what a KOOK looks like.

I think it was a guy like this who flew a plane into the IRS.

    Very smart solution.

    Keep up the good work

  • Oyee Smart Pants

    I am Serious

Americans are suck a wuss about violence protest.... I mean really We are not the only voilence protestor...

French are known good for that too....

That's why their Govt shits their pants before doing anything wrong....

  • i actually work for a call center for anthem blue cross. we got an email telling us to just keep telling people the rates are going up in hospitals and such. we have to knowingly lie to people. i hate the job once i found out, and am looking elsewhere for work. every person who calls and says their premium went from 873 dollars to 1182 dollars freaks out about it like it is my fault. in the back of my mind i'm wanting to tell them to go to kaiser.

  • Great video; get the word out. Right-on to Brave New Films.

    THANK YOU!

  • PUT DOCTORS IN CHARGE OF HEALTH CARE!!

  • Most people in the US are already in not-for-profit plans.

    watch?v=SRe3HrlV7w4

  • Follow the money! However broke and marginally wealthy - we are the source of the $ 2 trillion + spending on healthcare. If we pay it- they will take it! We must modify incentive system for health care providers to where the powerfull lobbies currently opposing reform would actually push for it. That's why I never pay Dr's bills on time/ in full or at all. Always dispute price. Enough of us will be doing it- they will HAVE TO change the system. Power to the people!

  • Well Point does not care about you. They care about their share holders. Therefore they are not in position to determine what care and treatments your physician should give you.

  • FrozenStreams, I'm glad you got out of Well Point.

Please everyone write or call or email the President and Congress. We need the public option to give the insurance companies competition.

Health ins. cos are raising rates and premiums on many people. The only way to stop this: let your voice be heard.

I've to tell you I lost my appeal for my surgery; I'm in severe pain but I'm far from giving up. I believe your physician should dictate care not someone that knows nothing about you. WP loves $

  • I worked for Wellpoint but got out.

All this is true and much more.

It started with Larry Glassock, former CEO and has gotten worse with Angela Braly.

The dollar amount of bonuses that these types of executives make is obscene.

And yet Connecticut ABCS just went through another round of layoffs just before this holiday season.

  • why dont people boycott this insurance company?

  • Who again is concerned about govt bureaucrats?

  • Here in the UK we have the National Health System - it's not perfect but it's definitely WAY better than this situation.

Everyone has a right to healthcare written into law.

This extreme greed is what happens when a government doesn't care about the people.

This lobbying situation is also very insidious - paying backhanders to change laws etc...if I got caught doing that I would be jailed.

  • I heard something really sad today. a 7-year old boy died from swine flu and his mom said he did not get vaccinated because they thought it was not safe.

That is incredibly sad--preventable deaths. that is what we have in the US and it is deplorable.

Everyone please call , fax , e-mail your congressman or women and tell them we need health care with a strong public option that we should have care like congress has. it is not free but FDA approved devices, drugs are covered. vaccines are vip

  • thanbk you so kmuch for posting this - you know, all our industrialized peers require health insurance providers to offer reasonable coverage at a reasonable cost, on a non-profit basis. Let's join the rest of our peers, please.

  • as long as the greedy capitalist republican party exists, along with their trailor parks and catholic oppression, medicine will remain a profitmaking machine, just like war.

  • Democrats are getting huge contributions too. That's why we're not getting single-payer in the House or Senate, or even a strong public option. They have to keep that lobby-money flowing. These f#@kin bribes should be illegal! Sooner or later they'll sell us into a global catastrophe. They've already managed to sell us into a global financial mess!

  • I would rather take the money and keep it in a savings account and collect some kind of interest. That way If I were to actually need health care I wouldn't have some stupid company deciding on whether or not to give me my own damn money!!!!! It is shameful!!! Where I'm from (Spain) medications and health care in general is cheaper because it is regulated, companies don't control the government. It's as simple as that. Pharmaceutical companies are proactive with there lobbies and so should we.

  • Sorry, Americanmale1953. What surgery did you have and how come it didn't work ? (If you know why or can say).

Health insurance companies are so out of whack and I really don't think that people know about it, how bad it is, until they are denied. The surgery I need is regularly approved by other insurances. That is the kick, if I was on so-and-so, I would be approved. But maybe the other ins. may deny you for something else. It is frustrating. Especially when you owe the bill. ugh.

  • ...We should be ashamed of ourselves! How in the world, we can be so gullible and ignorant about health care issues(among others) and let millions of our citizens, (including ourselves) suffer and exploited at the mercy of insurance racket. On top of it we malign people who are trying to do something about it no matter how mediocre it is. We need a single payer health system similar to France, Germany, etc. or a universal system like Canada, England, Sweden, and others. Health Care is a right.

  • You asked why we are gullible and ignorant about health care issues. I will tell you. It is because it is about the human body. (GASP)!! Our puritanical roots tell us that our bodies are something to be ashamed of, and hidden, and sinful. The only way to get the health care you deserve is to educate yourself and to do and demand what is needed to get healthier.

  • I am not a French citizen however I went to university there, and received a free doctor care for 2 years as well as complicated dental treatment for $20. Friend of mine broke his leg. His cost of excellent care was $70.

Another friend of mine living in London had to have a surgery to treat his ulcer. 5 days after the diagnosis, surgery cost him $0!Furthermore he received a money for cab when he left the hospital as he did not have a car! Need I tell you more?..Continued...

  • Welcome to the club, my 15,000.00 surgery was a failure so now I get to be crippled and broke too! LOL!

C'mon, you really think they will share their champagne and Escort services with you!

  • Class war.

  • Insurance GANGSTAS and CROOKS! Prolly one of them owned mostly by catholic church!

  • It makes sense to me that these companies could make as much if not more if they made their rates cheaper and we could avoid this socialist healthcare and people can get health care.

  • why is state healthcore so odiose for you? please explain, i'm british, i just don't understand your opposition,

    thanks

  • the rich are highly skilled at mobilizing ignorant people to lobby for schemes that are bad for them - people buy the lie, and express their outrage to legislators, who have been bribed with campaign contributions. I think if the greed-pigs could be silenced, and honest information given, people would realize they are being reamed

  • You hit the nail on the head. Check out "Billionaires for Wealthcare" vids.

  • This should be the kind of target that health care reform --- and business regulation reform as a whole ---- needs to be pursuing.

  • careful son that's commie talk, or terrorist even!

  • Put your ideas in stock, they will turn out well for your ignorant ass!

  • or denies you healthcare. dont forget that difference:)

  • not so sure you actually have it correct. you pay for health insurance companies. but you dont pay for health insurance. millions of that turnover is spent on salaries granted. but whos? doctors? no. administrators. people trying to see if you are trying to screw them for health insurance. thats really a doctors job. can you imagine a fire brigade turning up to your house fire and instead of putting it out they start an arson investigation? all that money is wasted on denial:)

  • so what? it's called capitalism.

profit incentive forces competition and technology.

britain has one the most bloated and corrupt health care system in the world. funny thing is, the employees don't use government health!

government is far more wasteful than any corporation could ever dream of.

universal healthcare means nothing without qualify. The USSR had universal healthcare, and it SUCKED.

  • so you really dont even know what you are talking about it seems. and capitalism is not the only way to do things. check out the post office, the fire service.you obviously have watched far too much fox news. you pay money to administrators who then decide if you can have an operation based on the bottom line. not your actual need for the surgery. imagine the fire brigade deciding whether or not to put out a fire. they have to conduct an arson investigation before they decide to put it out. dumb

  • @rsolgtp or pell grants social services medicare medicade police forest service and so on and so on so yeah stop listining to a company owned by a guy who admittedly hates america rupert murdoch hates this country and is using fox to try to tear it apart from the inside

  • NI (national insurance) cost us about 5 - 50 quid a month depending on earnings. if we need medicines and have a job we pay a 2 -10 pounds for the medication. that because the NHS is huge and gets good deals from the drug suppliers. if you are out of work. ITS FREE! thats it. not 1000s every month only to be denied because you forgot to tell them about a yeast infection 10 years prior to signing up. its about health not wealth.

  • the reasons you cite are the exact reasonscapitolism has failed in our times. technology, market triggers and competition are not enough to buy confidence. you have to already have a buyer to assume value on anything.

i could have truckloads of paper money but without people believing in it.. it's worth less than fire kindling.

  • capitalism has not failed at all, it is the basis for today's premier economic model

china and cuba's economic surge is because of capitalism, and europe's tanking economy is because of socialist-heavy economic theory that rests heavily in the state.

the reality is european HC depends on American profit incentive to keep their prices low.

if america were to socialize HC, social HC in europe would sky-rocket because the cost of technology and innovation goes up

no such thing as a free lunch.

  • actually "no free lunch" idealism is a pretty new concept. how's that been working out?

  • Did you even watch the video you dumb fuck?

  • Yes, they are doing well despite everything they are doing. It should be criminal to ruin lives but they are getting away with it. Not just with their customers, the patients, but their employees.

Every day, when I get questions from my children to go someplace or do something I cannot do because I am stuck because my doctor wants me to have the best he can give me and WellPoint wants the less effective treatment, one that could lead to surgery after surgery and treatments forever.

  • They're doing well, that's the point!

  • Angela, do tell? What sad sob stories do your shareholders blubber to you? Are you afraid of loosing your 10 million a year position to stand up for the jobs you cut? 1,500 people at Well Point were layed off earlier and more lay off's in the future. Has it occured to you in taking a pay decrease you could keep others working or do you think you're above ALL? What did you learn at the Methodist Law School? Shame on YOU!

  • U think its easy being a member of a Wellpoint insurance plan? Its even worst being an employee of the company. Wellpoint pays lower than market wages and the employee health insurance is expensive. Also in their quest for bigger profits, they laid off a ton of folks in their NY offices.

In fact, the premiums have gone up so much that many insured customers in NY (under Empire Blue Cross) have dropped their plan and signed up with competitors.

  • there has to be a way to get good health coverage without our taxes going up to pay for lazy poor people and illegal immigrants.

  • 'If you don't have insurance tough.' The reason this a problematic position is because of RAMPANT HEALTH CARE INFLATION caused by MASSIVE TAX INCENTIVES to provide healthcare to workers. Thus, if you don't have healthcare and can't afford your medical expenses, it is due to the MASSIVE TAX INCENTIVES distorting the true market price of healthcare. Since the government creates this distortion, they do have a responsibility to the uninsured, yes.

  • 3% of 61 billion is nothing to sneeze at.

  • The insurance companies operate with a 3% profit margin. Hardly outlandish profiteering. So now the lemmings of the left want to tear the whole thing down and give it to the government. Gee that's a great idea. By the way, I love the name of this channel, "Bravenewfilms." So brave they don't allow comments and new films with nothing but old ideas.

  • The point is that they're killing people, and still trying to build on a $30B profit.

  • arguably it's not wellpoint's fault, but the overall health care system's fault. Wellpoint is finding opportunity in a flawed system just like any other american individual or corporation.

This is the price you americans pay for having a purely privatized health care system.. and not switching to more socialised medicine. Sure you get better health care now, but whats the use if no one can afford it?

  • well they get scared by the idea of if they make a medical system where everyone can actually get well without paying trough the nose then they will all be lining up to buy bread or something. they say that they are land of the brave but they are scared to death of everything. scared into their cages. no lining up for bread there. thats because a loaf will cost $50k:) in a dog eat dog world you end up with one dog chasing its tail!

  • well you are right...they are scared.

Even the term "socialised medicine" was created with a negative connotation to begin with...

The truth is as more and more things in life are becoming controlled by the government (even as a result of free market failing..american people screwed up)...they think if they switch to socialized medicine they will become one step closer to becoming communist

Private medicine can ALWAYS survive even with a public system in place. Always got rich people for that

  • LMAO Insurance companies are spending 1.4 million/DAY to kill health care reform! I just read about a 4 month old in Colorado getting denied care due to a preexisting condition. 4 MONTHS OLD!Every country the US has fought with since WWII has Universal health care - even Iraq and Afghanistan.

  • What is wrong with denying insurance that is pure profit? And we are the nation that worships Alan Greenspan Milton Friedmen, and all the Ivy League economic professors. As of today 10/20/09 the stock market is going into high gear again.

We can print all the money we need hell with the consequences. Stop worrying the bankers, derivative whizz kids, federal reserve and corporations have brought the ship back into control. Just watch that 100 foot wave on the horizon.

  • As it stands, if we do not work for the federal government, we cannot get federal health insurance. Yes, it would be nice to have the extra thousands that we have spent for health care insurance and co-pays and deductibles and save some money for my surgery.

If we had the money, we would be able to pay cash for the surgery I need. Another point, when as a society we take care of people so they have better health and health care, this benefits the society.

  • Guys you really should not pay attention to people like CommonJoe. These guys are probably paid by the insurance industry to refute health care reform as it should be. The facts are that the congressmen get a very good health care that they pay for and it is a government run healthcare in a sense but there are private companies in it. Like Congressman x may have Blue Cross/Blue Shield Federal health insurance. It is not free and why cannot we have the same. You don't see them complaining.

  • You can have their health insurance. All you have to do is pay for it.

  • YOUR opinion is that WAR is the business of the fed. WHY?? I say our HEALTH is their business because health care protects our LIVES! More LIVES are lost due to lack of health care than to WAR or TERRORISM!

OUR LIVES NEED PROTECTION FROM ILLNESS! Duh!!

  • Maybe the President should make that argument instead of lying his way into universal government run healthcare.

  • Stop spending trillions of our tax dollars on WAR and we'll take your objections to HEALTH CARE seriously!

  • Talk to President OBama.....How is that hope and change working out for ya?

  • A hell of a lot better than the continued doom and gloom that McSame would have brought.

    "Republican'ts - spreading the poverty"

  • I am sick of MY tax dollars being spent on the WARS you Right Wingers support with bumper stickers, but not by joining the military! Those who are in have to do tour after tour because there aren't enough soldiers.

And WAY MORE tax dollars go to WAR than to HEALTH CARE! More die each day by lack of health care than by any terrorists! Talk about FACTS!!

    HEALTH care not WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • War and healthcare are totally unrelated issues. It is the federal government's job to wage war on behave of our country.

  • It's not the government's job to wage war on our behalf. It's the Government's job to protect us from all threats forgien and domestic.

Too bad the Government doesn't protect it's people from itself.

  • "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, PROMOTE THE GENERAL WELFARE..."

Try reading the Constitution sometime Joseph. Profits aren't in it.

  • Your healthcare is not general welfare.

  • Look up the definition of "welfare" sometime. The Supreme Court has made rulings on the General Welfare clause - you should look them up and stop looking silly.

  • I am not sure what point you are trying argue. It is not the government's responsibility to provide you health care.

  • Then you're trying to repeal Medicare, right? Providing health care IS Constitutional. Mandatory - no.

What's your premise for claiming government has NO rights as far as providing health care?

  • Medicare as it was instituted was and still is a bad idea. It is at the heart of our problems now. Since it's very inception, the program has grown in cost beyond expectations. The government knows that it is about to implode. Providers are no longer willing to accept the reimbursements and are making patients pay the difference. The government must increase taxes to pay for it or it will be broke. They are using this reform to cover up the increases.

  • Hey America, wake up! Obama is trying to save your medical well being and your all out calling the guy the devil?

I am Canadian and lever EVER worry about my health, ever!

Insurance companies are killing you so is that freedom? Freedom to be ruined by your insurer???

Socailism is not government run medical...Canada, France, England and basically everyone else has proven it

  • Insurance companies are NOT killing us. It is the government that is killing us.

  • Great Video. The boneheads that think Health-care should be run by corporations, need surgery, to the brain.

  • Joe: Isn't that the beauty of debate. I can make statements that you don't appreciate and share views you are closed off too. I wish you well and I am not going to further this discussion with you. If you were the individual that could make change I would look to you. However, we both know that is not that case.

  • The important thing is dealing with facts, not emotions and lies.

  • looks like their needs to be some ethic laws created for lobbying, that their should be good cause for corporate interest to have any lobbying during private sector laws being created.

so the republicans can come in and deregulate everything and hijack the bills to their creating a recession for profits since reagan and expanding their power and control over the money and wealth.

wheres the paper trail of bankrupting this country during the BUSH neo con admin?

lets see it?? then detain them.

  • I can't believe they have the balls to sue the tax payers. Teabaggers better be on THEIR doorsteps with signs! Where's Beck on this one?

  • Good call! Where the hell are these "grassroots" protesters now? They should be up in arms ready burn down the well point building!

  • Why?

  • Arthur and Bebe, I agree with most of what you said. Single payer/public option is the way to go. The ins. co are very naive to think that they could destroy and terrorize so many people and think they could get away with it. Funny thing about RICO, a few yrs. back ins co were in a lawsuit that stated they violated the RICO act and had to have a standard definition for "medical necessity". The device I want for my back meets all tenets of the def'n but BC still says "medically unnecessary".

  • The premiums are going to Wellpoint's executives. They are so overpaid -- just like the executives of every large company. They get millions and they are NOT worth it. The compensation committee will argue that they have to pay lavish salaries to get the caliber of executive they need. But this is such a lie!! The comp committee is a bunch of cronies from the board of directors who are also just a bunch of cronies. One of Wellpoint's board members is the wife of a US Senator!

  • Public Option is the ONLY answer and any politician who is against it, must be voted out of office.

These CEO's need to be prosecuted under RICO for running a racket.

They need to receive either the death penalty or life without parole.

The underlings need to be prosecuted and get 10-20 years at hard labor in a federal prison for crimes against humanity.

International courts for human rights need to investigate these CEO's and charges need to be brought up at the Hauge, also.

  • libs are like aids we all want a cure

  • get sick and die trying to get your healthcare.

  • Public Option! Make those bastards demonstrate ethics and compassion for the people or lose business THAT'S A PART OF CAPITALISM. A single person spends an average of 60$ per month (family of 3 approx 200) matched by their jobs = 120 times 12=1440$ per year and it's likely he/she won't even use 300$ of it, that's why Insurance companies make ridiculous profits- wasted payments & denial. Insurance companies have had 40 years to get their shit together, fuck'em. Bust their ass Obama.

  • Single payer - no compromise. Fuck the insurance exec millionaires.

  • fuck the insurance companies!! GO FOR THE HEALTH CARE REFORM AND SINGLE PAYER. CARE FOR ALL!!!!

please check my video: to hell with private health insurance.

  • CommonSense: I am not sure how to take your comment. I just believe when you are paying into your health care benefits there should not be a cap or limit to the health care that needs to be rendered when advised by your physician.

  • Then you want a socialized medical system. The problem is that is NOT what the President and the Democrats are proposing.

  • I want options for affordable health care. It baffles me that a man that has the label of common sense in his user name would rush to the word socialized medicine. For those that believe in God. I wonder if Jesus walked by the sick and before he performed miracles do you think he said" Do you have a pre-existing condition?" " This is going to cost you and your family to loose everything" " I am not in your network so I can't heal you." Be part of the solution Joe.

  • First, I think everyone wants that. Second, tell me, what is this "reform" going to do to bring that about? Third, let's not bring religion into the discussion because you would lose on that front big time.

Single payer is socialized medicine. Now there are some good arguments for single payer, and some against. However lying your way into single payer is wrong which is what the President is trying to do.

  • I responded to this video based on personal health care nightmares. I was diagnosed with a very rare condition that 30k people in the US have. You will never understand what dealing with insurance companies is like. Here you are diagnosed with something rare and every treatment is considered experimental. You are given zero access attempting a "normal" quality of life since the insurance companies see you as a risk and all treatments as experimental. You can spend a week in my world Joe.

  • I am sorry about your condition and your situation. However I am not sure what your point is. Is it my fault or the insurance companies fault you have this condition? I am open to hear what you think we should do about health care. Keep in mind that under a government run system, you still might not get care for your condition if it is rare and treatments are experimental. I know a case where someone was diagnosed with cancer in England and told to go to Hospice. They came here and lived.
