  • My God!

That he didnt sing that "highline" good HERE doesn't means he cant sing it elsewhere!!!

Look at Remember that night concert- he's singing it there too.

  • i don't think gilmour was thinking that just over two years from that day he will be singing a tribute to rick...Forever may he rest in peace, the heart and sound of Pink Floyd, Richard Wright

  • Rick is the best key board player theres ever been.He was the only one of floyd to go to music school. He improvised the psychydelic sound in the early years,he is a good singer, and a good song writer. (was)!!! And that jools holland doesnt mention his name when he anounced who was coming on his show next. Talk about idiots on tv!!!

  • @valkriemissle Yes it is an horrible mix. There is a better mixed version: w2aE8FboRb8

  • @canbazagain you are perfectly right , i was in the studio for the sound check and the "show" and neither sounded anything like this ricks channel is far too high !

  • Syd Ruled the scene

  • :) nice song

  • i've actually cried because i will never see a performance from pink floyd in my life .

  • Why does that plkonker Holland introduce "Dave Gilmour"? a total insult fellow musician amd keyboard player Richard Wright. DG plays only a minor part in this.

  • Now 2 great men at The Great Gig In The Sky.

  • What a brilliant job rick does here considering he himself is dying of throat cancer. And when presenting them that idiot doesnt even give rick a mention 'Brilliant rip rick' And thanks to dave for helping his old pal out..........

  • it was worth the effort for an old friend, their roots.

  • RIP RICHARD.. who cares how he sounds.. richard was a great guy and what a great tribute to Syd and a nice nod by David to let Rick get his time in the spotlight.

  • Major props to Rick Wright for the huge effort here...

  • man rick sucks

  • @555rest fuck of fuckin bitch

  • how can someone dislike this X( now im pissed

  • RICK VOICE is the beeeeeeeest

  • Nice way to take credit, Gilmore. Syd!

  • What a shit!

  • rubbish,thanks for postin though

  • Thank you Syd for this song, Thank you Rick for this version, we love you them both...!!!

  • this can also be due to a bad monitoring system. When a singer doesn't hear himself sing it's very difficult to keep tune. Rick was and still is a great guy, a great singer and a superb musician. Check out the version of this song by Gilmour and Wright as released on a single. I prefer the version on which Rick sings above the one that has David Bowie on lead vocals.

  • This reminds me of what just happened at the Super Bowl... Except Rick still had talent and was able to save the show!! RIP Rick... The master.

  • RIP Rick.

  • My God, who mixed this? Yes, we need to hear the vocals, but hell, he might as well be singing solo here!

  • it doesn' t sound like the crazy diamond used to,not at all

  • Yeah there is a better video on youtube with greater sound quality

  • what a shame, this song could be sounds better

  • @efvio FUCK YOU, Dont mess with rich, stupid ass!

  • @Droamen creo q tu y yo no somos afines

  • i´ll kill the soundboard engineer

  • Rick soud bad because the mix is zero

  • wherever you are Syd, you still shine crazy diamond!

    RIP Rich and Syd

  • what the hell is with the mixing on this?

  • i first feel in love with pink floyd for the sound of the keyboards,i was into the doors!!! early 1990s,then syd of course!!! but without rick i dont think the floyd would have EVER been the same!!! he wrote so many gret songs, summer 68,remember a day, paintbox, what a loss!! great guy!!!

  • He didn't sound good at all I will say at first but around halfway through he pulls it together and does better. The mix was also absolutely terrible

  • for everyone try David Gilmour - Arnold Layne (Live Jools Holland 2006), that video is the same performance but with much better sound.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't care if Rick had hummed his way through this song. It's still a great and touching tribute to his old friend Syd. May they both RIP, and long live the Pink Floyd.

  • Good Bye Richard...you are missed already

    Douglas Herzog

  • WEVE GOT TO REMEMBER THAT THE SINGER HERE AND KEYBOARD PLAYER STARTED WITH THE ORIGINAL FLOYD BACK IN 1965 AND DOESNT GET A MENTION WHEN HOLLAND INTRODUCTS DAVE. R WRIGHT IS A MUSICAL ICON AND HE WAS THE ONLY ONE OF FLOYD TO GO TO MUSIC SCHOOL .AND NOW THE GREAT MAN IS NO LONGER HERE AND ON THT NIGHT HE WAS GOING THROUGH CANCER TREATMENT HIMSELF. RIP RW

  • @johntheboymac ...absolutely, I found it insulting that Rick wasn't introduced with David, especially since Rick was a founding member of Pink Floyd and David wasn't.

  • Looks like a horrible mix. He probably couldn't hear himself. The instruments and david's voice are too low as well. It's really hard to sing that way, i know. Kill the sound engineer. There are other amazing versions of this song in youtube by this amizing guys at the same age. R.I.P Rick an Syd, your music will live forever

  • @upjil Agreed terrible mix

  • before people start ripping Richard with horrible comments, do you're research, Richard was and had been very ill for a long time. He asked Dave could he do the vocals as his tribute to Syd (possibly knowing he days were numbered, who knows), his struggling vocals should not be the focal point of this video, but that of a legend of an artist paying his respects despite his own challenges.

  • Wow..this mix sucks and they hit a few bad notes...The Floyd didnft do many Tv apperarances..EVER_-so maybe a bit nervious or NO rehearsal?

  • que desafinado wright no me gusto esta version

  • con todo respeto maestro pero le sale malena + o - la voz. syd se revuelca en la tumba hahaha

  • Whoever recorded this took only Wright's voice from the mixing console. The harmonies and (2) electric guitars are almost completely buried. It must have sounded much better, in fairness to Rick.

  • Its a bad mix thats all

  • Wow, Rick's voice sounds really bad on this one. Not like himself at all. Was he already very sick by this point? I'm glad I got to see him play in concert before he was gone.

  • Yeah probably very ill...but he was still with Dave singing an old Syd song...RW RIP x

  • R.I.P RICKY AND CRAZY DIAMOND SYD

  • no importa si hay una fallita en el sonido pero con solo ver esos dos mounstors de la musica ni se nota

  • The best person to sing this song aside from Syd himself is Richard Wright. The utmost respect to England's finest gentlemen!!!!! Who else would understand?

  • well done rick its not about being in tune its about putting yourself out there in memory of a friend its a very noble thing considering he was knocking on deaths door himself..rip rick

  • fair play to Richard, he was very ill when they did this, but wanted to put his tribute out there.

  • RIP richard

  • May your Rest in Peace Richard!!! You will Be missed you are my hero, this is the best performance ever, no matter what anybody says , playing thier old songs with great honor and yes even when sick he gave it his best , we love you Richard.

  • A mi me gusta.

  • It is heartbreaking to watch Richard Wright perform in such pain from being sick. I bet Gilmour tried to talk him out of performing, but Rick would have none of it.

Gave it his best for an old mate!

  • que mal!, esta sonando muy mal, algo pasa en el equipo o en la retrsmision de la tele

  • I prefered this song when Syd Barrett sung it.

  • Me too! this is horrible - out of tune, out of sync with the band. Syd forever!!!

  • Poor Rick Wright was very ill by then. It was just great to see him play...

  • Oh my god Rick is so ill in this performance. This had to have been his last performance.

  • danauli , you've miss the point of the song you have to sing it in a seeeeeeeeeeeeeedy voice

  • There are two things...one the mix has rick vocie to loud, you can not hear david or the other guys, if you could hear all voices together it would have been dificult to know rick was off key. second this is a particulra moment, he was never that off key in general. Best wishes to all pink floyd fans, to Roger, to David, to nick, and to Richard. We will miss you

  • rick and dave r amazing rip rick and syd

  • I love Wright even when he's out of tune... That man was the 50% of the sound Pink Floyd achieved

  • Personally, I think he sounds great, considering his health, his age and probably 50-some odd years of smoking. Why do people think singers are going to sound the same at 65 as they did at 20? It's absurd. I love how he sounded back then and in this video, equally. R.I.P. Richard, and give Roger (Syd) a shout out from all of us fans.

  • @lojir1164

he may have been very sick also

  • @lojir1164 I've got to agree with you. Such a lot of wonderful singers have lost their voices, Rick wasn't too bad here. Of course, compared to his early singing, this is awful, but that's relative. Gilmour still sounds impressively young, though, but he stopped smoking years ago and I don't think he ever was a heavy drinker.

  • @lojir1164 Some can sing, some can not.Dave sings great, but probably as you said Rick's singing is considerd his health.

  • great tribute to a great man

  • Roger water??

  • I was simply stating the reason he might have been a bit off key, and yes i can read thank you. But theres no reason to point it out, we all know what he sounds like. He's had an amazing musical career and battled cancer for a long time, and during the battle your only comment is "he's very off key." sorry but that just why i found it a bit offensive.

  • Fuck the guy who only said David Gilmour.

Rick is the sound on this song!

  • Rick passed away not too long after this. Watching it now, and thinking about a great musician paying tribute to another great musician, and then passing away shortly after. This video sends chills up my spine. Forget about how good it sounds. Just think about the emotion within the musicians...

This is what good music is all about.

  • sadly yeah but its legend anyways

  • he was dying of cancer i hope you know.

  • Yeah, so - aren't you able to read?

I just wrote he's off key - nothing more, nothing less, nothing offensive, nothing disrespectful.

    So what's your problem here?

  • manskitto123 thats because of you know nothing about Pink Floyd

  • ahah go cut yourself again

  • maybe they met there, who knows...

Rick will be a friend for me forever and teacher. he was just... such a tragedy...

  • R.I.P Rick.........we all love you

  • I know its not perfect by Pink Floyd standards. But it's earthy and cool and Richard was not very well at that time in his life. I like it so.....PHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • Rick...damn...RIP man, we miss you.

  • It's not so good of a performance: Rick's voice isn't as powerful as in the golden days and his piano playing as well, as for David he is only a towering figure! They are old, but still they made history! RIP SYD and RICK!

  • R.I.P from MN

  • probably how syd would havesounded now, always thought ricks sensibilities closest to syds anyway,v apt x

  • i think its v endearing,i love ricks voice,even if not perfectly sung,lovely,bless your soul x

  • nada como san "SYD BARRENT"

  • Freakin awesome, I like turtles.

  • DId Rick Wright die of throat cancer? If he did, you know it's time to stay off the Charlie boys

  • Why does the announcer say "sound that it is David Gilmour" also the name on the vid says "David Gilmour and Richard Wright" In my opinion this is so much more Rick than Dave. RIP Rick

  • to everyone whos crticizing rick (rip), id like to see YOU try and sing this song. one, he was old, two, only syd had the voice for this song. so give the man a break he was a great musician.

  • i cannot understand what went wrong i watched rick and david rehearse this the day before and it was great,i was also lucky enough to speak to rick a real gentleman and such a great loss .

  • Kudos to you. I share your sentiment exactly.

  • Now you are singing with Syd in heaven, Rick. We love you both.

  • rip richard!!! we miss you already!

  • rip rick wright!

  • we're gonna miss you rick, our friend, our beloved pink floyd man.

  • you'll never be forgotten rick. may you rest in peace.

  • R.I.P. Rick Wright.

Damn fucking ciggarettes.. took another one from us.

    damn the tobbaco.

  • such a big loss, we'll miss you Rick

  • RIP Rick Wright :( We wish you were here too

  • RIP, Rick and Syd.

  • god bless you rick. Like Syd, we're going to miss you.

  • RIP, Rick Wight!

  • VERY bad mixing here, you can't here Gilmour and Pratt on backing vocals.

  • the guy underneath has no idea what hes talkin about because lets face it roger waters was pretty much the band he was the genius behind the band ! pink floyd isnt so good without roger waters even although the pulse gig is possibly thee most amazing thing ive ever seen but if u think about it roger was the genius behind most of the songs in that gig !

  • fuck roger waters . that asshole thought he was the band . fuck him hes gone. and good ridance. the division bell proved . rick. nick. and david gilmore were pink floyd. dont get me wrong roger was a huge part of floyd in the 70s . but he lost it in the end. listen too his solo albums . he sucked by the 80s.oh and lets not forget si rip you genius.

  • Rick cantou terrivelmente. Ele nao consegue mais cantar como antigamente. Faltou a banda ajudar um pouco no backing. No geral valeu mais pela homenagem a Syd. Valeu Dave e Rick.

  • rick sucks in this song

  • sadly he does... but i bet gilmour would have been no better

  • i'd love to see YOU singing song at the age of 64

  • shoot Mason's 65

  • rick wright sang lots of the stuff in the early seventies and is as gooda singer as gilmour

  • but there was too old, but it's understandable RIP Rick

  • Never thought PF could sound so bad :)

Why do they spoil such a great song by pretending they're a garage band?

  • Rick Wright e' sciarritato con il microfono.....sembra un tinto karaoke!

  • The guitarist two places left of Gilmour is the brilliant Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music, who's played with Gilmour off and on for some years. Rare to see him at a mic.

  • Rick's singing here is not good. But this particular song doesn't fit his voice either in addition to bad sound in the studio. If you watch the "Remember A Night" DVD or clips form it on youtube, you will hear that his voice is much better there!

  • very weak vocals, Gilmour should sing instead

  • I like the little guitar Dance after each verse

  • a terrible performance of a great song, good God, Rick Wright can't sing for toffee

  • Puh thought for a moment that david sang.He didn´t even know him did he?

  • David was actually very close to Syd.

  • I use to play this song in a tribute band. I still hate this song.

  • This has been remixed for rebroadcast.

  • the way it's sung here this piece simply doesn't work. rick is out of tune and his voice is shakey, he sounds like a guy who's trying to sing for the first time, with no training.

but i love pink floyd as everyone here i'm sure and let's have some understanding and respect for rick and his singing. he got old and he's been smoking a lot, unlike gilmour who quited early. and i bet rick didnt' rehearse the vodals for this song too thoroughly before the show.

    rock on boys!

  • I didn't think Gilmour smoked, I knew Watters and Wright did but I would have figured those two would've quit years ago. I never saw any evidence on video that Gilmour or Mason smoked. But whether Wright still smokes or not, you can tell it affects the vocals on this song.

  • gilmour himself admitted he used to smoke but he quitted while still young, to preserve hs voice (and prolly his health too). it's in a documentary, cant remember which one exactly, however on the "classic albums - dark side of the moon" documentary there's an early black&white photo with the boys sitting together and there's a cigarette in David's mouth.

  • It's good he quit early then because his voice today is still great. Those guys where in the age of Rock where drugs was a big factor. Some people learned the hard way, like Syd.

  • rick said he smoked weed

  • That's very possible, even around the time of this recording, because we know he was battling cancer at this time. It wasn't too long after that he passed away.

  • Gilmour's smoking was actually the reason why he chokes at the beginning of "Wish You Were Here." There's a picture of him from the Meddle era (I think) in the studio with a cigarette too.

  • What do you mean he "chokes"? I never really took notice of anything but tell me and then I may see what you mean.

  • When he starts playing along to the radio, he makes this weird grunt... I guess it's more of a weird throat clearing. Either way, Dave chalked that up to his smoking.

  • the story says that once he heard that "choke" he immeadently stopped smoking!

  • I'm sure he quit before the 80's at the latest.

  • I will give it a closer listen and see what you mean.

  • Use headphones, it's on the left channel. It's really obvious, seeing as there's no other sounds.

  • rick is a kwl singer it was just a bad day

  • The mix is shite, Rick's voice is way too high up in the mix which leaves it open to critical dissection. The same would happen with any other singer. Live music is all about a decent blend.

  • I dont know about Ricks vocals on this

Maybe Im just used to Syd - he wasnt a great singer (see "Feel") but his voice was interesting, and very English

  • i actually blame the whole thin on the wank-mix. i would even go that far to say wright's microphone is the only one thats active. biggest evidence is the drumsound. thats how drums sound when you put one single mic 5 meters away.

  • I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan, I have to admit this doesn't sound good. But this bad mix has a lot to do with it, but Rick himself doesn't sound great either. As far as the argument of Rick being a great vocalist, I don't think he's great. He's good, but certainly doesn't have the range that Gilmour has. But to say he's lost his voice, I don't really think so. I have the "Remember that Night" DVD by David Gilmour released this year, and Rick sounds just fine on that.

  • the Rick's vocal is too loud just. The other musicians are silent.

  • Wright sounds like he is singing kareoke after a vat of scotch.

  • Poor Floyd guys. Gilmour or wrights voices aren't doing too good these days. Haven't heard Waters lately. I bet his voice is falling apart too. Still good performance.

  • pfff i can see you haven't even heard gilmour today. he is singing better than before when he was young. he is the only one who can sing perfect today and even better than in old days.

  • richard wright isn't as good of a singer as barrett or gilmour, or waters.

  • He's a quite good singer, but this is just not his song, it's Syd's part, I don't remember now, but I think he was originally the backingvocals on Arnold Layne. At least here you're right, he doesn'T sing it very well, but there are some early floyds (the ones where he actually sings) which he sings actually very good on.

  • Stay, Summer 68, Remember a day

    Hard to cover Syd..

  • Like Echoes and Time for example.

  • Ricks voice isnt doing to great, but then again so is both Roger and Davids. Would have been better if David sang it.

  • That is BAD!And SAD.Nice organ playing though.

  • Zebonka, we don't appreciate art? We don't appreciate some bloke singing out of tune and like a complete twat while murdering a classic.

  • Ma fa schifo! Mi dispiace, ma han suonato malissimo e Ricky ha cantato persino peggio.
