Based on dozens and dozens of video clips from across Syria, I have seen that women are often just as involved in the protests as men. Some protests seem to even have a majority of women, or women and children.
Live fire on women's protests has been more restrained, however, and it is certainly true that the large majority of casualties and detentions have been of men.
Dear Lizrael, Thank you for your comment. That the protests have been largely male-populated is exactly the myth this video aims to dismantle. There have been women's street protests nearly every single day since protests began except possibly the first 5 days, and this can be documented by simple YouTube searches, yet coverage in world media seems not to air the footage on a regular basis, preferring the footage of male protesters.
Thanks for this video and for highlighting women's role in the protests. I think, however, that it presents a picture that does not correlate with reality completely. Overall, the overwhelming majority of protests have been male-only, and as a result, the overwhelming majority of protesters who were killed are males. Protests are gender-segregated, for the most part, and women usually do not participate.
