I would like to see the evidence that US beef has a higher incidence of Mad Cow than South Korean beef. How would you know? South Korean beef is not even tested. There was one Mad Cow discovered in the USA in the past 10 years, which originated in Canada and was never slaughtered.
France and Japan test 100% of their beef. Because they have high safety standards for their own beef, they have a right to demand the same from other countries. South Korea does not.

They were protesting against Korean gvt for allowing lenient screen process allowing greater chance for contaminated beef to flood into K-market and US gvt pressuring Korea to do so as a part of FTA negotiation. China ship bad products but the did not pressure K-govt to lower its screening, never. And when bad product is found, stuff are sent back with a protest

I would like to see the evidence that US beef has a higher incidence of Mad Cow than South Korean beef. How would you know? South Korean beef is not even tested. There was one Mad Cow discovered in the USA in the past 10 years, which originated in Canada and was never slaughtered.
France and Japan test 100% of their beef. Because they have high safety standards for their own beef, they have a right to demand the same from other countries. South Korea does not.

They were protesting against Korean gvt for allowing lenient screen process allowing greater chance for contaminated beef to flood into K-market and US gvt pressuring Korea to do so as a part of FTA negotiation. I feel so sorry for the Australians who didn't sell as much of their meat in Korea. But I am glad that the good meat was cheaper so poorer families could afford it.

I am in Busan, South Korea. We have similar protests. Guess what. No riot police have beat anyone. No riot police have arrested anyone. My job is to help monitor this stuff to protect Americans visiting and working in Korea. So I know.
Now, with Seoul, this is the issue. There are few violent. But, unfortunately, the innocent get caught up in the cross fire. Much like Taliban attacking coalition forces in Afghanistan while civilians are around. Who are the bad guys then?

No! the protesters have blocked traffic and impeded business as well as spread lies about this issue so much so that even korean farmers are suffering because they dont trust them either. To all: my comments about samsung goes with Hyundai and LG as well as the farmers. They are all interest groups that have control of the korean economy. It is no secret the level of connections these companies have on the korean economy, and the president of korea was trying to break through these connection in order to get the FTA passed.The koreans would have benefited greately by the FTA, but now the the koreans wanted to protect their rice first, and now beef, i hope to hell it doesn't pass

This reminds me of thr Solidarity Protests in Poland and the peaceful protests in the Czech Repulbic. It also reminds me of the coup in Thailand. I was there, and it was peaceful. Tourists were taking pics of monks walking by tanks. It seems you and I will lose if the Korean economy goes down, and that DID NOT happen in Thailand. The new airport opened next week.

I've lived in both countries, and China is dirty, polluted, and the people are rude. Korea is clean, efficient, and pays its teachers fairly. I made 6500RMB a month in China. That's dirt, man. I bet you still make less than 1000RMB a month!

I lived in Bundang, and I went to many places big and small, but to tell the truth, when my week vacations came, I wanted to go to Thailand, the Philippines, or Malaysia or somewhere abroad. At 556,964, Kangnam is the THIRD most populous gu of Seoul with 26 dong of its own. Not a small minority. Furthermore, it's the major transportation center and commerce center.
