  • what crappy interviewers

  • hurry the fuck up with gingerbread!!!

  • Crazy, Eric Schmidt really gets the technology his company makes. Compare that to the bullshit master Steve Ballmer;)

He's creepy and demonically smart, though.

  • @BleakVision Well, Steve Ballmer has degrees in mathematics and economics, whereas Eric Schmit has a Ph.D in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

  • Isn't this already big in Japan or other areas of Asia?

  • I watched this muted, and it looks like Eric Schmidt knows how to Sign.

  • this guy's a douche but i LOVE GOOOOOOGLE! LOVE my EVO, LOVE my OS! LOVE my CHROME browser!

  • Mark zuckerberg interview was much better..

  • Hope it supports 4g speeds. it should, if it doesn't thats kinda of a step backwards imo

  • he has the nexus 2

  • Can YouTube produce a [semi-automatic] transcription of this interview? I found the discussion of net neutrality, in particular, rather illuminating and labored to produce a transcription of that segment manually.

  • FOR TEH LULZ.

  • hopefully they'll release gingerbread so i can import to my hd2

  • bad idea credit cards are free.... not phones...

  • @srikanth94 Dude, you still can buy a book and a map cant you??

  • will it come to Norway? The Nexus one didn't come so i hope this one come :D

  • Web 2.0 is the death blow to free internet and freedom. Your government wants total control of information and the internet 1 will be destroyed because they hate free information that opposes them visit double u double u double u dot Infowars dot com. Free your mind.

  • I felt the interviewers to be rude. There's a fine line with Tact.. and they don't have it.

  • Nexus S

  • They already have this phone functionality in japan. I even bought a phone tag i czn swipe in irder to pay for all kinds of paymdnt. It's time this technology to rise in America.

  • <<<====== warning dont click

  • America gets LTE first...wrong... Sweden has LTE for a while already on certain networks...silly yanks

  • America gets LTE first...wrong...

  • scary. sounds like a massive drop in security and privacy to me

  • Did anyone else noticed that the Lock Screen button is on the right side of the phone not on top? Just like the Galaxy S line phones. Notice how he turns on the phone at 1:41 then he slides the lock screen. Just thought I'd share that :)

  • it lingers on

  • old men smell.......

  • Someone grab Eric's Nexus S/Two!!!!

  • nexus 2 at 2:00 ?

  • "Forget search" -Eric Schmidt, CEO Google. Lol, that's headline material

  • WELCOME TO The new wolrd order! we have a cashless society emerging, monitored public and a people DEPENDENT on thier govt benefits (umemployed) SLAVE~ PRISONER

  • Eric Schmidt seems like an ass.

  • Sorry, USA ≠ The World

  • i love android but its the phones don't stand up to how good the software is

  • Wow, Google is beating Apple to NFC. Watch out Apple.

  • nobosy can ignore the nexus elephant in the room

  • One of the finial piece's of the PRISON you will all live in. Everything you do, and say will be tracked with great ease. This is only the public marketing of this product to make you believe it is some sort of service or convenience for you.

  • @putittogether

    Thank you.

  • how about bringing TV to internet more-so then internet to TV

  • eric is so smart he needs TWO interviewers. lol

  • To see what google is really about read the cyber security act. They will fully own the internet. It will be monitored, surveilled and censored to what the government sees fit. All freedom of alternative media and all freedom of speech will be gone. Google is not what you think.

  • @leebog31 they already track every search you make. FOREVER, if you have google chrome, google toolbar, or any google anything on your computer. (including cookies) They can track every website you visit. This is nothing new.

  • Google is run by the NSA. They are getting the world ready for a cashless society and biometric chips in everything. Once the dollar collapses the global SDRs will go into effect which is paperless money used by the central banks. All these chips are just for control and surveillance. Won't be able to buy and sell without them.

  • I want Nexus S!

  • 2:50 LOOL I thought he was going too steal the phone!!!

  • screw everything! I want that phone !!!!!

  • this is already released in japan....

  • CEO of google leaks the new phone.... AWESOME..

  • never believe google when it says we are not here to compete...

  • does anyone know if the evo 4g is getting gingerbread??

  • eric's suit is pimpin...

  • JUST SHOW US WUT THE NEXUS S CAN DO!!! THANK YOU!!

  • its sooooooo awesome gaaaaaaaah, (drooling)

  • where in the world do they come up with these names? Gingerbread? Nexus? How do they go from Nexus to Gingerbread? Are they named after a Google Party?

  • @SierraNiteTide no the names of the phone is a nexus meaning 1. a means of connection between members of a group or things in a series; link; bond

    2. a connected group or series... and the name gingerbread, froyo, eclair, donut, cupcake they are all desserts just some thing they do as well as linux I believe does

  • @GUCHCARNAGE thank you.... that makes sense.

  • @SierraNiteTide what? never goes from Nexus to Gingerbread, the android OS's are named after sweets, like Donut(1.5), Cupcake(1.6), Eclair(2.1), Froyo(2.2), Gingerbread(2.3), each with the first later a later letter in the alphabet.

  • NFC.. FINALLY. Here in Japan they already use that in phones to pay for public transport, vending machines, convenient stores, supermarkets etc etc etc.

Strange it is coming to the west so late..

  • @Dreamlinker Funny I just had this conversation with a friend in Japan (I am in USA) and he complained that Google was not bringing voice to Japan soon enough and I said not to get greedy because here in the US we still cannot buy things by swiping our phone.

  • @gxcad Yeah it's kinda strange that a fairly simple technology like RFID is treated like something new and shiny.

Well let's hope 'we' adapt soon to this technology, and that shops, governments and companies make some use out of it. I have a ton of cards on me with RFID chips, to enter doors, to pay for transport, to ID myself.. and then a bunch of cards with a magnetic strip, (insecure and vulnerable) to pay, or get trough some OTHER doors.

I hope they just merge this all into one: my Phone

  • Way to go Eric, but doesn't Google already got facial recognition with Picasa (web albums aswell)?

  • @Egidius86 Yes but not Live Recognition in like cars are stuff

  • @Shaunm401 Yeah, I totally understood that. My guess is that people will ask for that sooner or later. Certainly with companies like Apple, Yandex and Bestbuy investing in some way in facial recognition. It might add another layer of security to your phone it's capabilities and it can also add great features to a large range of products for example. However, it also means that your privacy is totally gone and abuse can be harmful for the user. But still, it's just a matter of time I guess...

  • These interviewers suck. They keep trying to catch Schmidt in the typically lame "Aha gotcha!" press questioning. Seems like they want to generate tabloid quotes for schlock sites like TechCrunch, more than they want to cover what Google is actually doing.

  • @FutureEvan I couldn't agree more with you, these guys are talking to the CEO of freaking Google and could get a huge scoop on newest tech or something and instead they are trying to catch him with his pants down or something...Also checkout the Zuckerberg interview, same thing...

  • @FutureEvan @FutureEvan I couldn't agree more with you, these guys are talking to the CEO of freaking Google and could get a huge scoop on newest tech or something and instead they are trying to catch him with his pants down or something...Also checkout the Zuckerberg interview, same thing...

  • I love him!

  • i hope gingerbread comes to the original droid!

  • youtube.com/user/ag2web

  • TELIASONERA in SWDEN launched 4G over a YEAR ago! Are you LOST Eric Schmidt?

  • @artiriti i think he was talking about LTE not 4g,maybe i misunderstood.

  • "Commanding control would bring us the benefits of more control, but it would increase the likehood of people saying 'hey, I'm outta here'." Wise people.. if only more companies would realize this.

  • i uhh... cant wait uhh... for Gingerbread uhh... to come out! ...uhhh

  • @TheWizKid95 uhh.. lol uhh

  • I want that background to his phone.

  • You can get it on any android phone except on a samsung. Samsung phones don't support live backgrounds.

  • @skygger666 that's the most retarded thing i've ever heard, it's android, it supports live wallpapers on my Galaxy S. Which is made by Samsung

  • @savyfight3r The galaxy may be an exception, but so far every Samsung phone I have had a chance to use has neither run 2.2 "Froyo" or supported live wallpapers

  • @skygger666 What the hell are u talking about? Have u ever used a Samsung phone? If I would want a live wallpaper I would want it on a Samsung Galaxy S model (which I have the Epic 4G). They have the best GPUs as of now

  • A few apples saw this video and didnt like it.

  • Ah Jean Baptiste avec ces blagues à 2E! ;)

  • I want a free Nexus One :'(

  • @vitorgatti Then go to Google IO next year. XD

  • @vitorgatti i got an extra one i dont use, do you want it?

  • @kcolin6701 yes I want! :-P

  • Bump for everything.. :) Thumbs up for everything Google

  • I am dying to work for Google!

  • Eric should speak in front of the public more often, he appears to be as charismatic as Steve Jobs.

  • @MANICDVLN and less misleading. Notice how he admits that certain technology has been available for a while.

  • I broke my voice to much fun this weekend?

  • What a great guy-- he inspires sobering thoughts of sane business practices and promising technology. Go team.

  • LTE first in america!? we have had LTE in sweden since december 2009!

  • @gustafgagge we had sprint 4g since june 2009!

  • @TheAndrolibrary sprint 4g is not technically 4g speeds if you look up the definition, and i read a study saying its slower than tmobile hspa+

  • eric can be a dick at times!

  • 5 Apple fans saw this video.

  • free ice creams for everyone

  • Thumbs up for opensource! Thumbs up for free, honest and open! =)

  • pretty cool this video the only problems is that i don't understand it all lol , big provblem for a french google fan ... I hope that apple's annoucement and google first place in the video list of the web summit 2.0 evenment will a little bit mitigate' the conference from mark kücker berg !!!!! Really hope so , and hope that google is gonna show us all huis strenght against facebook , where microsoft doesn't do anything !!!!.

  • "Forget search" -Google CEO

  • apple fans... stop disliking the video haha

  • Last time I checked TeliaSonera was a swedish company, and Stockholm, Göteborg, Lund and some other cities is not cities in America. But of course, when it suites the americans best, USA is global. USA sometimes want to be swedish so much that they convince themself that they really are swedish

  • i love listening to Eric and totally looking forward to Gingerbread

  • Eric Schmidt is the man!!!

  • 2:50 I thought he was going to steal the phone:

"I WANT TO SEE IT YOU B****!!!!!!!!*

  • Comment removed

  • Is it cool to interrupt him all the time?..

  • Haha USA will never be the front of technology, not anymore so...well Eric Schmidt should do some research!

  • the manufactuers should first update all current devices to 2.2 froyo

  • @snargk They should, but they launched devices with customised interfaces sitting on top of Android. Until their custom interfaces are updated to work with Froyo, they can't offer Froyo. This is why I love my Nexus One - no extra crap on it and updates directly from Google. Hopefully Gingerbread's updated look will persuade most device manufacturers to customise their phones a little less.

  • As usual! USA == The world

4g/lte lanched almost one and a half year ago in Scandinavia. The Swedish operator Telia launched the worlds first publicly available LTE-service in 19 December 2009 in Stockholm, Sweden and Oslo, Norway.

Make a search here on youtube for "telia 4g" and you will see speed's of 95-20mbit down and 25-5mbit upload...

  • Comment removed

  • @90joka haha well the usa is the world most of us commenting on this video live in

  • @kcolin6701 Technically nothing currently available is 4G. It doesn't matter that LTE or Wimax will eventually reach 100mbit/s(the minimum speed necessary during peak times in a busy area to be 4G) as they'll only be 4G once they reach the aforementioned conditions.

  • @britishcoder true i dont see that happening anytime soon

  • i need to correct him. streetview is not open in germany yet! and no, there was not a discussion about not taking pictures of requested house-owner but also of bluring the house afterwards. still its a question of time it will be available in germany. and yes, most people will love it!

  • Billionaire and not married (I dnt see a ring on his finger), he must buy a lot of Escorts!

  • @flamz4000 At leased he's getting some, unlike sexless celibate Mr Steve Jobs, who seems to be in love with himself and can only get a hard on with his black turtle neck sweater and jean mirror image!

    ZING!

    :]

  • @onizukademongto I know I wasn't saying it in a bad way, I was saying it in a good way. i'm glad i didn't see him in a hot as turtle neck either. haha!

  • The Nexus One really set a benchmark in build quality for android phones, why on earth would they go with cheap looking black glossy plastic for its successor?

  • @tipoomaster You obviously don't know about the other google official phone, the LG Optimal "Star". Dual Core Tegra 2, 1.2GHz, 8Mb Camera with 1080p video, topped with STOCK 2.3 Gingerbread and a 1500mAh battery, chrome aluminium back with stand and 4.3inch (estimate) screen! We think it'sa out next year! but in the meantime check out the pictures of this beast! As if google would put alll of it's eggs in Samsung's basket! VIVALA OPEN ANDROID!

  • Sorry Eric it was TeliaSonera that was the first operator in the world to commercially launch LTE in December of 2009. During the first half year 2010, TeliaSonera has also opened up 4G for pilot customers in Finland, Denmark, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia.

  • Thanks for that great video. So much great stuff.

  • Google Nexus S looks crap. It's made by Samsung so why the hell hasn't it got their Super AMOLED display instead of an inferior AMOLED one? and with a new 1.2GHz processor, why isn't there 768mb of RAM like the less powerful HTC Desire HD and MyTouch 4G? The 5mp camera isn't great either. Half-arsed piece of shit :l

  • @MEareCAT who says it has 5mp camera? no one knows except samsung and google.

  • @MEareCAT that would make nexus S too expensive and probably another geek exclusive product. clearly google is tapping on the mainstream craze over that 5 million units of galaxy s sold. but i do not speak for google.

  • @MEareCAT It will have Super AMOLED. It's a standard set by Samsung for all of their devices.

The specs are still unknown but there are rumors that its going to be dual core.

  • Did he say the states are the first in the world to bouild LTE (aka, 4G) network? Bullshit! Its was first in Norway, officialy open for use in Oslo Since December 14. 2009, and they are building to reach 80% of the whole country in this moment.

  • just buy google share

  • This is the first time I've seen Schmidt talk (I've read a few interviews etc.) and he is a dude.

  • @QuiffSoup He comes across really well, seems to know a lot about each of the services Google offers and seems to genuinely believe in Open

  • @QuiffSoup

    What are you saying? LoL...

  • "I said there wouldn't be a Nexus Two... I never said there wouldn't be a Nexus S."

    - Eric Schmidt

    Can't wait for Gingerbread!

  • forget the search... i lol'd ^^

  • Nexus S! T_T
