The diner scene was originally how the movie ended - the C.H.U.Ds crash through the restaurant windows followed by fade to black (at least on the VHS copy). Has anyone seen the theatrically released version of this film? If you have, enlighten me about the ending.

This is a BRILLIANT point. It's something that a lot of today's horror film directors forget. Films like "Black Christmas" (1974) and "Halloween" (1978) don't show a ton but what you envision is much scarier. Same could be said with Texas CHainsaw Massacre. You think it's really violent, but there's barely any blood.
