  • The 70s have alot to apolagize for.

  • Don't do kids, drugs.

  • FIGHTIN CRIME WITH GAY MUSIC

  • I watched this a kid in the 70's back to back with "Fat Albert" lol Thanks for posting this only been about 30 plus years..

  • In Chile, The Osmonds it was broadcast by UCV Television from Valparaíso in 1989, but did not have the same popularity of Jackson 5

  • Damn! Why couldn't I be like Donny Osmond? HE GETS ALL THE GIRLS!

  • I saw the band with ssiter Marie (swoon...!) billede, of coruse, with Donny, at the Flamingo, where they sitll apppear as regulars, in Vegas. I can assure I preferred them over New Kids on the Block and Backstgreet Boys, neither of whom had the neighborly warth to me that the Osmonds do..and I STILL wish that Marie were my girlfriend when I was a teenager.

  • The 70s desprately needed a new hobby.

  • Childhood!

  • the jackson 5 is better then the osmonds

  • @willowbreeze121 Nope...The Osmonds were on the Andy Williams show during the sixties..Long before the "J5" came around

  • WTF!?! They get a mutha%$#ing JET to tour the world ???

  • are you crazy. We all still love the Donny

  • people do remember the osmonds, crazy horses rules

  • If nothing else Rankin-Bass' cartoon versions of The Osmonds and The Jackson 5 are among the most semi-surrealistic cartoons ever made, and this makes them compelling viewing even 40 years later.

  • little jimmy has the high pitch voice since he was the youngest.

  • @pnfl07 No, jimmy wasnt even in the group. he was too youg. He was being set up for the future lead singer of the group, but it never happend. After donnys voice changed it was the end for the group

  • who has the high-pitched voice?

  • @tulllguy Donny who was 12 I think.

  • How to torture Mormon boys: Send them on a rock tour and forbid any sexual activity

  • No one told JIMMY he was adopted :(

  • so sweet

    love them

    x

  • Who was Hortence Bird based on? I always wondered about that one. I remember reading that Fuji was based on a real dog.

  • Man these guys did some ownin on the Jackson 5 huh? Yeah!

  • LOL

  • Where's the ubiquitous anthropomophic animal?

  • @shmuli9 oh that was Jimmy

  • @teehonky LOL Evil, evil, evil! :-) Jimmy DID look sort of like a fat squirrel, or a tall Oompa-Loompa...

  • Wow this aired about the same time as the Jackson 5 cartoon . It was me and my sisters favorites. The two families mirrored each other when this country was so divided on racial issues. These two groups of sibblings taught all of us the value of family fun and fantastic music. I'm 45 now and remember rushing home to watch both shows. I hope both families watch youtube , cause I would like to send out my thanks to them all for entertaining us , and forgetting about that one bad apple. Racisim !

  • @wyzard214 Hello wyzard214, I am 46 and I definitely remember BOTH cartoon shows - quite frankly, I liked both of them, even though my older sisters liked the Jackson 5 cartoon much better - I never thought of it as a rivalry of sorts - both groups of families made great music, and I always tried to look beyond the color of things - I guess that's what most music does, it makes you look beyond color-

  • @wyzard214 I preferred the Jackson 5 slightly. The "written by staff" songs the Osmonds had were good (like One Bad Apple" and "Down by the Lazy River"), but the songs the Osmonds wrote themselves I thought were rather horrible ("Crazy Horses... wraacccckk")...

  • Chinese children didnt watch this cartoon show BECAUSE......

a they preferred to watch "the Jackson 5ive instead

b asians hated the goody-goody music

c the Osmonds had WHITE teeth, they DONT

  • @teehonky O, and then there was that cartoon "Charlie Chan and the Chan Clan", where the teenaged Chan kinds were all in a band (of course, the girl played the tambourine).

  • @shmuli9 which nobody really cares to remember, since kids could barely watch this crap o saturday mornings

  • @teehonky I know I couldn't. (Sometimes I'd fall back asleep and miss "Josie and the Pussycats".)

  • @shmuli9 Hanna- Barbera screwed up a lot of kids minds in the 70s, and dont get me started on those Rankin-Bass people

  • @teehonky Rankin-Bass productions are sort of the televised equivalent of "Keene Paintings"...

  • @shmuli9 okay.....

  • Who are the Osmonds?...lol I dunt' remember. Donny Oddman.....lol

  • is best the jackson five cartoon

  • Every time I see Donny Osmond, I flash back to watching him on Johnny Bravo

  • what's up with the one blond kid, haha

  • fuck you old people!

  • Come on guys. NOBODY CAN'T MESS WITH THE JACKSON FIVE.

40 yeras later nobody remembers the Osmonds but everybody knows the Jacksons.

  • @atosh76 umm you know who the Osmonds are.

  • @atosh76 Yeah, everyone knows about the Jacksons because of how disfunctional the Jacksons are lol.

  • The Osmonds with no Marie? This can't be right.

  • this is stupid

  • well to me they don't sound anything like the J5. But interentestingly enough "One Bad Apple" was written initially for the J5.

  • my fave love the osmonds

  • Reminds me of the jacksons ABC thing, is the apple suppost to despict a vajayjay or something..... kinda looks freaky from 0:20

  • Wow Donny's voice is so high!!

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, here it is: Jeremy Osmond on Guitar on Flickr - Photo sharing.

Definitely "hispanic". And that is not a insult if someone thinks I'm being cocky, Unless you think bing hispanic is a bad thing. I DO NOT!

  • Why does Jimmy have blonde hair? I've seen video of him as a little boy, here on You Tube, and he didn't have blonde hair. And while we're at it... they look hispanic.

Infact, look up Donny's son Jeremy, they have to have hispanic blood - even if their name is Osmond.

  • too much similar to the Jacksons!!!!!!

  • I heard these guys like to waste water..=p

  • Used to love watching this all those years ago, just realised it premiered on my 11th birthday :-)

  • Did the actual Osmonds do the voices of their cartoon counterparts? Somebody let me know. God bless!

  • The Osmonds were equal in terms of Talent with the J5

It was MJ who was exceptional! and Nobody will ever top that!! Not Ever he was a One Off! RIP Michael x

  • Hard to believe that this has been almost forty years.

  • lolz my aunt showed me this because she got a DVD somewhere and I laughed so hard at them dancing in unison.

  • MyxChemxGirlx, You are SO right! The Jackson 5 had "IT," and can't you still feel it 35-40 years later? Amazing! As a child of the early 70s, when both families were on t.v., it was the Jackson 5 that won every time hands down! They had the best specials, were fun to watch as guests on other t.v. shows (Carol Burnett, Sonny & Cher, etc.)--and as for performing, OMG! AMAZING!

  • LOL--Joseph Jackson was REALLY pissed off that Motown passed on this song for the Jackson 5.

  • @garyifny Who cares? Joe Jackson was garbage.

  • @garyifny For some reason that makes me happy.

  • i miss the osmonds cartoon show i liked them better than the jacksons micheal jacksons life spun out of control where you did not see donnys did not

  • The Osmond bros' choreography in the opening sequences is similar to that of the Jacksons...limited animation much?

  • Ha you should see these guys now days. I see Donnie around town at least once a week hahaha and the old one looks like Kenny Rogers

  • I never understand why they made Jimmy blonde when he was dark-haired like the rest of them.

  • I watch this and remember how silly it was and how I would never miss it. Good old Saturday mornings and yes it was campy and dumb but we were kids and we were dumb. Like Davey and Goliath. You might fight later that day but you didn't pull a knife.

  • I have been reading some of these comments and I really don't like alot of them. First of all if you don't like the Osmonds why did you watch this video. I liked the Jackson 5 and I was sorry to hear about MIchael's death. Yes he had some great songs but his life seems to have gotten out of control. Donny and the rest of his family managed to not only find fame but personal happiness. Not everybody is going to like the same music but to say they suck is just wrong.Listen to what you like.

  • I still remember an awards show in the 70's where Michael Jackson came out to present the award in a white tuxedo and Donny Osmand came out from the other side of the stage at the same time in a black tux, clever they were back then. Now a days you need a wardrobe malfunction to get it going. By the way did anyone see Roger Daultrys tit fly out from Petes grab at the Superbowl halftime show? It wasn't pretty, roger had the same star that Janet had on, thank goodness for tape delay.

  • the osmonds are just a white version of the jackson 5

  • @mibevan Or at least tried to be

  • Osmonds claimed Donny was coughing up blood from pushing his voice too hard after studio sessions to make this song... but who knows because show biz is so phony & filled with showy BS stories!

  • Donny said he wished Michael had taken him up on that offer, to see what normal was. Because Michael's life was always so hounded.

Donny could have been such a good infuence on Michael. I wish Michael had let Donny in his life more.

I wish Michael could have had the loving wife, father, brothers that didn't get jealous and distance themselves...It's sad. May God hold Michael close now and also his family.

  • Recently I saw a clip of Donny saying that he saw Michael's vitiligo when he would visit him at Neverland. Michael trusted him enough to show it to him. That it was all over his body. Donny said he didn't understand why Michael's word wasn't good enough for the public. He said he had invited Michael and his kids to his house to spend time with his family after the trial to rest that he wouldn't tell anyone where he was but Michael said he'd had it and just wanted to get out of the country.

  • omg i had this song for like 3 years as the jackson 5 in my computer.... I realy thought i was the jackson 5 ....damnnn

  • is it just me or are they just a racist alternative to the Jackson 5?? C'mon!

  • is this actually an osmond song?

  • @INTERNETISREAL

yh. everyone thinks its j5 its not! lol

  • michael jackson private phone conversation leaked part 1 of 4

    Put this title into YouTube

It will give you real insight into Michael's bitter feelings about his father.

He had a friend, she was a wife and mom. They talked about her kids..PTA, innocent stuff. Her husband evidently suspected an affair and taped some conversations years ago. When Glenda found out, she gave the tapes to Michael. I don't know how they got leaked recently.

  • I certainly agree with you there.

I wish to God Michael could have had a dad more like Donny's.

Michael's dad would also bring women into the hotel to sleep with and tell him "you'd BETTER NOT tell your mother". With his religion he was torn and ultimately obeyed the patriarch and the one he feared. He hated his father for it. When the osmonds training circuit was the fairgrounds, the J5 were doing strip joints. The man was a horrible father figure.

  • they were so much better than the J5 but i do love ABC and I'll Be There :)

  • this is a Jackson 5 RIP OFF! but i still like the osmonds too lol

  • I have won so much money taking bets on who sang this song.

Everybody always thinks it was The Jackson 5 who sang it (I think it was originaly written for them but they didn't want it so it went to The Osmonds).

  • @AnElephantsChild Hey, I lost money betting that the J5 sang this. And, you're absolutely right, the song was turned down by Motown as "too bubblegum". When the song became a hit Papa Joe Jackson was mad because the J5 lost a hit to Mormons, whom Papa Joe thought were racists, It was one of the reasons why he got 4 of his sons to leave Motown. I'll bet you knew that.

  • @AnElephantsChild To be honest with you,I thought it was the Jackson 5 at first too.A young Donny and young Michael's voices sound so identical.

  • @landrykkb and they both represented freakish religious cults.

  • @andrelebaron Say what you want about the Osmonds being Mormons & what have you,but at least their Mormon faith had kept their feet on the ground.

  • @landrykkb

That's probably because George Jackson who wrote the song, wrote it specifically for the Jackson 5, who rejected it.

  • Yes there was competition and comparisons between the groups..mainly the heads of companies. But Donny has talked about how he and Mike sometimes found themselves in the same hotels and all the brothers would play ball indoors. A few times something got broken and he and Mike looked at each other and said, "woops!"

He said once he and Mike took turns hanging their heads out the windows and the crowd would scream, "Donnie", then the crowd would scream "Michael" and the two of them cracked up.

  • @8mycrab

thts true! aww. sweet mates. gd to no tht they were friends til Mjs death

  • What were Jimmy and James doing in London?

  • Once it came onto 'Jimmy', I was all "I'm outta here." But...It's an explosion of bad 70's color. x_x I can't look away.

  • eww...I can hear donny or whoever is singing second lead trying to imitate the jacksons or whatever funky style...and it's not cute. the song itself is good, but I can totally hear the Jackson 5 tearing this song up.

  • jackson r better

  • I love MJ, but the Osmonds debuted first - and its a fact that Joe Jackson mimicked them

  • LIES!

  • @loquaciousthe3RD

hes not copyin mJ! thats his really voice. some people think that donny n Michael, when they were liek 11-14 sounded the same. n in soem ways they did! after all, iv heard someone discribe the osbros as white w/ black voices. lol

  • i think the same people behind the Jackson 5 cartoons where behind the osmonds cartoons. The dance step and are simuliar

  • How can you compare the jacksons to the osmonds. One group has the biggest selling artist in the world and the other group doesn't. End of story.

  • well in basic terms there are 5 males in a pop singing group, but from there on out any common ground is over.

    Osmonds SUCK.

Its a near crime to mention the Jackson 5 in the same comment , but it was someone else who made that HUGE mistake FIRST.

  • @pearclips

if u dnt liek osbro, y r u here? they dotn suck! thye rock! (n since its up alot on these comments, so does j5)

  • @tsb049 Sad for you to think that that's the only measure of success, as if ethics, happiness, respect and quality of life...all areas in which the Osmonds certainly excel over the Jacksons...are irrelevant. If your goal is to live the life (a downward spiral to death) of Michael Jackson versus Donny Osmond then someone did as poor a job raising you as Michael's parents did raising him.

  • The Osmonds is like a rip off of the Jackson 5. Even the music mirrors what the Jackson's did.

These guys were a white photo copy. BOOoooooo

  • the jackson five formed after the osmonds o.o

  • i stand corrected. I should have done my research.

    Osmonds began in 1957

    Jackson 5 began in 1964

But the Osmonds cartoon came out after the Jackson 5 cartoon. In that respect they copied from the Jackson 5.

  • The Osmonds began as a "Country and Western" group. It wasn't till the 70's that they became huge pop stars second to the Jackson 5 with the hit "One Bad Apple" and onward.

  • The original 4 Osmonds did not debut as a Country and Western Group. They did church and barbershop. It was when Jay Williams ( the dad of Andy) saw them sing barbershop impromptu at Disneyland that they went on the A Williams show. Osmonds were long before the J5. Both were great... just different from each other.

  • LITTLE BEATLES

  • I remember this cartoon I was about 10 at the time, I thought it to be pretty boring. Channel check, what else is on.

  • Let's compare where it really means something. Donny Osmond is still performing on the strip in Las Vegas - The Flamingo - and he and Marie are signed on though 2012! Michael Jackson is dead. Oops, I guess Donny wins!

  • I actaully saw an interview with dDnny, where he said that he had been critized constantly for what was peceived a "goody-goody" image, but he had outlived so many 70's entertainers who died from their lifestyles.

  • let's do the comparison with ALL the factors. Major factor #1 Donny & Marie Suck! & Michael Jackson was one of the greatest ever. Its like comparing high school sports to the pros. 100 years from now MJ will still be popular, &Donny will be long forgotten. Its not the fact that Michael won, its the fact that D&M were NEVER up to being in the same league as MJ. Not even close.

    Too bad for you MORmON!

  • MJ is dead. That's not better than being alive. Osmond gets to enjoy several more decades of life. He gets to do what he enjoys most, he gets to watch his children grow up and have children of their own. You are so stupid to think dying is better than that or having a tormented life of trials and tribulations from parental abuse to courtrooms is better than a long happy life. Your stupid and sick, but mostly WRONG. If MJ could live his life over he would do it differently, not so for Osmond.

  • Its amazing that after all the coverage about MJ's death you still think what's important is how it effects YOU or fans, not how it effects MJ. The fact that he's dead doesn't matter to you one bit and if MJ could have lived a long happy life of without fame YOU would have considered that a failure. That's a sad, and pathetic description of who YOU are. I'm glad you posted it here, no one would have believed someone actually had that opinion.

  • MJ has a body of recorded work that is supreme.

D&M has a body of recorded work that sucks.

yes MJ is dead but I can still listen to his music.

Those are the facts as they weigh in on my life. If only there was a way to permanently silence the POS Osmonds!

Its amazing that you cant get that.

any other extranneous personal judgements you try to project onto me about MJ only display YOU as as an idiot & asshole. believe it or not. thanks!

  • MJ wasn't as happy about him dying as you are. The fact that you were completely ok with MJ destroying himself as long as it brought YOU happiness tells the world everything they need to know about you. MJ died, that's a major fuck up that negates everything else. Its like saying "I won the Oscar, the Grammy, the World Series, the Super Bowl and killed myself...wow I did good." Right now, Nov. 2009, Donny is doing a lot better than MJ and if you can't figure that out you're stupid.

  • who ever said I was happy about MJ dying? ..... BESIDES an ASSHOLE KNOWN AS YOU!

    "that negates everything else"

only in your MORmON values pimping pathetic world !

Your life is so pathetic, that you have su

  • your life is so pathetic

you are so desperate for any validation you do absurd contrived mental gymnastics to requalify everything to take down others so you are left in de facto triumph

you tell others what to think as if it really works, but back in reality you are still just an AH & loser.

MJ's death did not bring me happiness

    but his music did

    something D&M will never do

although D&M (& their insane AH fans like you) dying would put a smile on my face!

  • No pearclilps, you're wrong. Doesn't get more complicated than that.

  • it must be really depressing to live as a MORmON like you, having to assert your stupid ass LDS values into every scenario in some desperate attempt to displace the reality of your own life being so pathetic & worthless. I have seen your MORmON mentality a millions times, always framing things in MORmON terms, alway elevating your Stupid ass cult, alway telling others all what they really think & how they should be.

Being called wrong by a MORmON is GOOD. Now go suck off your bishop, AH!

  • You're an idiot. I was born and raised Catholic and now practice a non-traditional belief that predates Christianity. Don't ever try out as a detective or any profession that requires deduction or analysis because you suck at it. Of course your comment indicates you suck at a lot of things. As far as Mormonism goes all I know is that they don't drink coffee, I'm not allowed inside their temple, and extreme sects have multiple wives. Besides that I really don't know more about it. Nice choir.

  • being called an idiot by a phony POS like you is nothing. YOU have already been pinned down on everything that matters

BY YOURSELF. YOU pimp MORmON style values as if that is all that matters, because you are pathetic POS loser going around trying to dictate to other people about what really matters because you dont matter. You told me that I was glad MJ was dead. you were totally wrong. Just ONE example of your AH MORmON Tactic from your AH MORmON world.

  • im sat here watching donny and marie live on uk tv

  • Plug this in-

    Donny Osmond On Michael Jackson

  • Donny and Mike used to talked about what it was like growing up kids in a business where the grownups called the shots and you were at the mercy of a judgemental public- Moonwalker

  • They both said they hated how they were pitted against one another for ratings.

There was room in the world for both.

  • C'mon people.

If Donny and Michael could be friends and call each other on the phone, then why are we even fighting about this?

Donny said that the whole rivalry thing was nonsense and that they were good friends. I even read in Moonwalk, Michaels book (that HE wrote, that they were friends).

  • @8mycrab Joseph Jackson was a slavedriver to his kids. George Osmond wasn't. He just told them to get out there and have fun with it. Joseph did what a lot of parents are guilty of: living their dreams through their children, not caring what kind of effect that will have on them later. That is why Michael became the way that he did. He even fired his dad as his manager in 1979 when he became a serious solo artist (Off the Wall).

  • 1 bad apple was a good song but u cant compare the Osmonds to the J5..it's not even close!!! The Jackson 5 were the first act in recording history to have their first four major label singles ("I Want You Back", "ABC", "The Love You Save", and "I'll Be There") reach the top of the American charts.] Several later singles, among them "Mama's Pearl", "Never Can Say Goodbye" and "Dancing Machine", were Top 5 pop hits and number-one hits on the R&B singles chart.

  • The Osmonds on the other hand knew what being a "ten idol" as they were was all about. morally...and part to being Mormon [though as Don Bluth would later show, that too can be used as a smoke screen even if you are one]. Either way I liked the gorup and Donnie and marie [but NOT DOnnie, Jordaon, Jay or Nick Carter or posr 1977 Michael Jackson! LOL again.]

  • and lets not forget at least the osmonds can still do a reunion show.......whereas......

  • gee maybe if mr osmond had beaten them more maybe the osmonds woulda been sharper??? who knows. osmonds as a whole were bigger i think until michael dropped his bros then he kinda left everyone in his wake. as for hassling the mormons , werent the j5 jehovahs witness? i mean come on people really.....

  • As coined by Barry Scott of Lost 45s radio fame in Boston Ma. As well as to a point in Nationwide syndication The Osmonds and the Jacksons are two groupsthat sound very much alike but are each from very 2 different backgrounds and part of the start of this misconception was when people would call up saying "I want to hear One Bad Apple by the Jacksons."then they'd be told "That's by the Osmonds."Then this cartoon's opening & with it after The Jackson 5 Cartoon in '71 on Saturdays caused this.

  • True story...1 bad apple was a song intended for the J5...but barry gordy thought the song was silly....thats why it sounds like a J5 sound...it was intended for michael and jermaine to sing the lead parts.

  • Funny, considering how ludicrous the lyrics to "ABC" are.

  • Nit ludicrous if you consider the genre back then was termed "bubble gum"....it was for youngsters and teenagers...and the "hook" from the song is undeniable thats why it was a number 1 record.

  • Jackson 5 - Pure Legends

I didnt even here of these Osmonds until Michael died and they were showing how they were rivals. Jackson forever {:

  • That's really what made the Osmonds who they are......Family Values. I got to meet Donny back in 1988 on his comeback.......You couldn't meet a nicer guy.

  • But Donny still had firm rules to follow due to his Mormon upbringing. The Mormon Church is known for its abstinence and work ethic.

  • One of my favorite intros. They showed that Mormons could be funky.
